ECDL WebStarter Sample Tests

Introduction
The following are sample tests for ECDL WebStarter. The Sample Tests WebStarter-SV1.5
KKE folder contains all the required workfiles to do each test. There are two sample tests in
total. Each sample test consists of 20 tasks.

Answerfile Instructions
For questions where the Candidate is asked to record an answer to the knowledge-based
MCQs, an answerfile for each test is provided in the answer folder within the Sample Tests
WebStarter-SV1.5 KKE folder in the Candidate Designated Drive.

Naming Conventions and Reference Conventions

The following naming and reference conventions have been adopted within the ECDL
WebStarter tests. References to file names, file extensions, folders, directories, URLs (Uniform
Resource Locators), hyperlinks, image links, web pages, e-mail messages, field identification
names etc., together with textual insertions are presented in bold italic for ease of identification
within the test paper. Naming or insertion actions for text or numeric data should be added
without any formatting except where a formatting action is requested as part of the question
item. Authorised ECDL Testers are required to make these conventions known to Candidates in
advance of the test.

Designated Drive
A Designated Drive under Candidate identification should be provided to Candidates for the
ImageMaker tests. Where support files and folders, work files or an answerfile relevant to the
specific test are required, these are to be provided on the Designated Drive. Prior to the
commencement of a test Candidates should be informed of the location of the Designated
Drive. Test documentation must be handed up to the authorized ECDL ImageMaker Tester at
the end of the test.

Candidate Disk
Where a Designated Drive is not available a Candidate Disk is provided to Candidates for the
tests. Where support files and folders, work files or an answerfile relevant to the specific test are
required, these are to be provided on the Candidate Disk. Before the commencement of the test
the Candidate is asked to name the disk under their Candidate Identification. The Candidate
Disk is the property of the Test Centre and must be handed up to the authorized ECDL Tester
together with all other test documentation at the end of the test.

The following is the sample test for ECDL Module, WebStarter. In the test you are asked to
answer some theory questions, modify a web site for the Mountain View Primary school from
the supplied information, and apply various formatting actions to prepare the web page for
viewing by prospective parents.
