An Alignment Chart is used by the course designer to plan their course. The chart is organized by theme or topic to
avoid having to re-design the course if the course were organized by a text or other resources that might change over time.
The objectives for the activities must be measurable. The objectives use active verbs to describe the activities. Assessments
must match the activities. Modules need to be arranged in a logical order. The quality of written reflection and discussion
are also methods used for assessment and are evidence of student reading and watching required material Quizzes may be
taken as many times as needed to achieve mastery. Checklists and rubrics are provided to help students do self assessments.
A rubric is the best method used to evaluate project based work because of the many elements of the project and different
levels of mastery possible. The student can use the rubric as a checklist while working to be aware of what is expected and
to what level.
