Theatre Workshops for Children


WHAT

HOW

A workshop for children which will work towards helping each child
express and give creative directions to their unbound energy and enthusiasm. The workshop will aim at exploring the ideas of rhythm,
movement, story-writing, emotion, space, voice and speech.

Age group: 6 9 Years OR 10 13 years (separate batches for

The workshop will culminate with an experience where each child


will be part of performance developed by them during the worshop.

WHY
Theatre can provide children with a creative outlet to their emotional, mental and physical being. To express and watch others express helps build a sense of comradery and compassion like no other.

As much as theatre has the capacity to instill confidence and selfbelief, It also teaches a child the joy of being completely involved and
focused in things that they do

Duration of each session: 120 Min (Ideally) / 90 Min (Minimum)

Total no of sessions: 10

These 10 sessions can happen across 10 consecutive days or


spread over 2 months with classes once/twice a week.
Fee: Rs 4000/The workshop will culminate with an informal presentation
which will showcase short performance pieces developed
by the children during the workshop. The childs parents,
friends and family will be invited to come as audience.

Vivek Vijayakumaran (Artistic Director / Our theatre)


Vivek has been working as an actor, director and theatre facilitator with children and adults for over 8 years in Bangalore. He has had
the fortune of training with Shri Adil Hussain, Shri Kanhailalji and Shri Venu G over the years. His trainings include Kalaripayattu,
Kutiyattam, Yoga and Contemporary dance to name a few. He is also the founder and artistic director at Our Theatre.Recipient of the
Inlaks India Theatre Award 2012.
As a theatre facilitator for children, he has worked independently with HeadStart Montessori house of Children,HeadStart Educational
Academy. CRY, Shristi Special Academy ,Kara4Kids Mindtree as well as Libraries & Slums.
Vivek was recently featured in Forbes India life (Oct ,2015 issue) as as one of the 12 theatre practioners who are pushing boundaries and
innovating in India today.

Ganavi Laxman (Actor and Theatre Facilitator /


Our Theatre)
Ganavi Laxman is an actor , choreographer , dancer , a certified
yoga instructor and has done her B A in Psychology. She has had
training in Kathak, Contemporary dance , free style and was one of
the finalists at India s got talent 2013

Ajithlal (Actor and Theatre Facilitator / Our Theatre)


Ajithlal is a theatre actor with a diploma in acting from National
School Of Drama (Bengaluru) in 2015 where he got introduced to
more than fifteen forms (folk , classical , ritualistic and Martial art )
of India including forms like Kutiyattam , Therukoothu , Yakshagana , Theyyam , Kalari etc...

Besides being a dance instructor at residence at Amber Valley


residential school (Chickmangaloor) from 2010-2014. She has also
worked as a choreographer on several Dance Drama projects like
Fiddler on the Roof, Krishna Kujela , Kalidasa etc.
She has been working with children in Bangalore and other parts
of Karnataka for more than 6 years

Received training in modern acting from eminent personalities


like Ramanujam ,Shankar Venkateswaran and Michael Casanova .

Presently she is working as an actor and theatre facilitator at Our


theatre.

Presently working with Our Theatre as an actor and a theatre facilitator

Has directed more than twenty street plays and plays for the proscenium. To his credit is also three live art performances and a
collaboration on a video art project called Glass of water.
