Guide to Accommodation
There is a wide variety of accommodation types in Singapore to suit different budgets and needs.
There are several private student hostels in close vicinity, some within walking distance to
campus. Some of our recommendations can be found below. Depending on your budget and
preference, you may also consider renting a private apartment or condominium.
3dsense Media School is located in the city centre, a minute's walk from Clarke Quay MRT train
station (NE5). It is easily accessible by train and bus services.
Student Hostels
Student hostels offer rooms ranging from single to two and four-bedded rooms with facilities
such as WIFI, internet rooms, cleaning services, common lounge areas and laundromats. The
following hostels are located in the city and very accessible to campus within a 5 to 15 minute
journey.

Straits Student Hostel

The Straits Student Hostel is a affordable and comfortable hostel conveniently located within a 5minute walk to 3dsense. Besides single rooms, it also has 2-sharing and 4-sharing with shared
bathroom.

Oaktree Hostel at Owen Road

Opened in 2013, this hostel houses students in single and double rooms. It is a 2-minute walk to
Farrer Park station. From there, a direct line will get you to Clarke Quay station in 10 minutes.

Alternative, you may consider renting a room in a privately-owned apartment, condominium or

Housing Development Board (HDB) apartment directly from the owner or a real-estate agent.
You may use online classified portals (google "singapore apartment rental") or get in touch with
real estate agents who can advise you and help arrange visits to apartments. Agents will charge a
fee for their services so be sure to check with them beforehand.
Some of the residential areas that you can consider within a 20 to 40 minute train or bus journey
include Novena/Balestier, Toa Payoh, Kallang, Tiong Bahru, Queenstown. Away from the city
centre, rental costs are usually lower in these areas.

Short-term Student Accommodation

If you have not found suitable accommodation before arriving in Singapore, you can stay in
temporary accommodation while you continue your search for a more permanent solution. You

Estimated Living Expenses (Monthly)

Accommodation: SGD 400 and upwards
Food: SGD 400 - 600. Local delights, or street food are not only an affordable option but some
would say a reason alone to visit Singapore! They start from SGD 2 and can be found near the
school. Eateries cost SGD 4 and up. Familiar chains such as Starbucks, Burger King and Subway
are located literally at the school's doorstep so there are plenty of food options.
Telecommunications: SGD 40 - 80. A standard mobile plan with bundled 3G/4G data would cost
about SGD 40. Pre-paid cards are also easily available and some students use them to tide them
through the first few days when they first arrive in Singapore.
Transport: $0 (if you choose to walk!) - 120.
