LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

From the ES Administration

Step-Up Day
Next Tuesday 7th June, we will be holding a step-up
session for our students, whereby they will move to their
next Grade level for a one hour session. The purpose of
this is to acclimatize students with the new location of
their grade and to support the transition process, mainly
through allying any fears or apprehension some students
may have. This is a social and interactive session, such
that students leave, looking forward to their next school
year and excited about their new grade level. Students are
also made aware that the teacher they move to is not
necessarily their class teacher for the following year!

Reports
Your childs Semester 2 report for 2016/17 will be available from Powerschool from 7 30 am on Thursday 9th
June. Please note if you would like a hard copy generated, please contact the ES office and this will be
available for pick-up on the same day.
Thank you
As we come to the end of another school year, a heartfelt thank you to our entire community for your support
throughout the year. Your childrens education is a partnership and can never be achieved in isolation. The
more discourse we share, pedagogy we unravel together and conversations we have, the better we are able to
meet the needs of your child. Thank you.
Farewells
It is a time as well when we are farewelling some great friends and educators as they move on to new
countries and new adventures: Jenni Laing (Preschool), Graham Laing (Gr.1), Anne Courso (Gr.1), Michael
Riley (Gr.1), Christine Yamanaka (Gr.3), Martina O'Connor (Art), Lauren Erickson (LSP), Eugene Comer
(Guidance), Mitzi Bautista (Gr.1 TA), Leah Calamiong (Kinder TA), Alyanna Reyes (Preschool TA), Em Destura
(ESL TA), Jeng Paulson (Preschool TA) and Fi Santos (Reading TA).
Staying at ISM but moving on to Middle School and High School respectively, we have Kris Hamaguchi (Grade
4), Liz Godfrey (Art).
It is also time to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication of Michael (Rourke), who has left a
fundamental and lasting impression on our program and pedagogy at ISM. Michael has continued to challenge
us all to be better inquirers and we wish him the very best on his new and exciting adventure in Australia.
And last but certainly not least, a special goodbye to all those families who are moving onto new adventures
and places. Hopefully ISM will remain long in heart.

Whats New?
The Elementary School Canteen joins the
implementation of the full debit system beginning
SY16-17.

Reminder: ES Students are not permitted to purchase

food items in the MS/HS Canteen during their lunch
break.

How does it work?

The students campus cards (ID with a smart chip)
will remain in the homeroom. If there are special
classes (Art, Music and P.E.) before the lunch
break, the campus cards should be worn before
the student proceeds to the special class as they
will not return to their homeroom.
During lunch, students can purchase food at the
ES Canteen using their campus cards. Sodexo and
The Yogi Chef (international vegetarian cuisine)
will provide a well-balanced and kid-friendly
menu in the ES Canteen.
Upon leaving the canteen, ES students will leave
their campus cards in the designated box assigned
to their homeroom and the campus cards will be
distributed back to the homeroom so they will be
available the following day.
If a student misplaces/losses the campus card,
the concessionaire can access the students name
without the card so the student will have access
to food that day. If the card is lost, it must be
replaced immediately through the Security Office.

inSY1617!
Starting SY2016-2017 ISM will implement a full debit
system in the MS/HS Canteen. The debit system
provides customers with a cashless payment system
once the customer's ID has been loaded with funds.
Parents and Students are encouraged to start
using the debit system if they aren't already doing
so.
