Abstract:
Each ethnicity and / or culture has characteristics that belong only to it, which is different from
others and that constitutes its identity, although there may be some similarities between them.
Marriage is one of the greatest depictions of life in society and human fulfillment. This union
between man and woman has had and has a deep significance in the lives of men and
throughout the story, so, along with the marriage itself, various rituals, traditions or elements are
coupled to each culture has provided the which distinguishes it from other practices around the
world.
The present investigation aims to make knowledge to the scientific community the experience
marriage as a social event in San Jose and Monsef, following up from the previous step to
marriage, the fulfillment and after marriage; making a description and comparison between the
two cities.
This work focused on comparative analytical description has compiled various data regarding
marriage as symbolism, testimonials, interviews, festivities, and overall cultural elements that
have endured over time and constitute an important intangible cultural heritage that deserves to
be valued and preserved over the years.
Significantly, though still kept alive the marriage traditions, western influence has generated
acculturation, transfer and alienation of different cultural elements to their own.
To carry out this investigation we have used various techniques and methodologies for an
anthropological study such as interviews, participant observation and the use of a field journal,
which allowed us to host all the information needed for this research.
Generalities will be established between the two places and significant differences were
rescued because our research is ethnological type.
