10 Ideas: Prayers for an Unbelieving Spouse

After 34 years of marriage, my husband, Lamar, announced that he wanted a divorce. I dont
love you, he said. I dont need you. I dont want you.
I was devastated.
Either you get a divorce or I will, Lamar said. Im sick of hearing about God.
I told Lamar that I couldnt file for divorce.
Well, just leave me alone, he said.
And I did.
I knew that I was powerless to change my husbands unbelieving heartonly the Lord could do
that. Through Gods amazing mercy and grace, our marriage and Lamars soul were saved.
The following are 10 prayers that I prayed for my husband. You may not face the same situation
as I did, but if you have an unbelieving spouse, these prayers can help you focus on the God who
changes hearts. (Just substitute the name of your spouse.)
1. Lord, may Your wise and knowing Spirit rest on Lamar. Be Lamars counselor. May Lamar
delight in You and obey Your commands. Convict Lamar of sin, the righteousness of Jesus
Christ, and of the coming judgment. (Isaiah 11:2-3)
2. God, You will fulfill the purpose in each of our lives. Your love endures foreverdo not
abandon the works of Your hands. Do not abandon Lamar. Draw him to You. (Psalm 138:8)
3. Bring Lamar to the end of himself and into a living, vital, intimate, overpowering relationship
with Jesus Christ. Open his eyes that he may see wonderful things in Your law. (Psalm 119:18)
4. Your hands made Lamar and formed him; give Lamar understanding to learn Your
commands. (Psalm 119:73)

5. Bless Lamar. Your Word says that Your kindness leads to repentance. Dont allow Lamar to
continue to store up wrath for himself. (Romans 2:4-6)
6. Lamars heart is in Your hand; You direct it like a watercourse where You please. I can trust
You. (Proverbs 21:1)
7. Give Lamar singleness of heart and action so that he will always fear You for his own good
and the good of our children. (Jeremiah 32:39)
8. Instruct Lamar and teach him in the way he should go. Counsel Lamar and watch over him.
Your unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in You. (Psalm 32:8, 10)
9. Help Lamar to humble himself under Your mighty hand, that You may lift him up in due
time. (1 Peter 5:6)
10. I pray a hedge of thorns around Lamar, that those with wrong influence will lose interest
and leave him alone. I pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of His
blood. (Hosea 2:6)

A Prayer for my Husband Father in the name of Jesus I seek

you for the mind of my Husband for the weapons of his warfare
are not carnal but mighty through you to the pulling down of
strongholds. For these strongholds have set themselves up
against his mind, his emotion, spiritual relationship, his
finances, family and marriage. Therefore I cast down
imaginations, and every high thing that has set itself up in his
mind to exalt itself against the knowledge God, and to bring
into captivity every thought of lust, pride, guilt, insecurity,
uncleanness,promiscurity and unforgiveness. But transform his
mind by renewing it through the power of prayers, songs,
spiritual teachings redirect his mind. Where his conscience has
been seared by the negative instill that which is moral and
good. Stir the Holy Spirit to convict him when he is making
wrong decisions. Never let him lean to his own understanding
but acknowledge you in all of his way. Where Satan wants him
to doubt and believe the lies that he has placed in his mind
give him the helmet of salvation to protect his mind for Lord
your word is sharper that any two edged sword it penetrates
to the dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow; it judges the
thoughts and attitudes of his heart. Nothing is hidden from
you. I pray that thou would keep him in perfect peace. May he
come to know you and trust in you. No more shall past
relationships come to mind, or be remembered, visit, nor be
repaired neither shall he be able to start new ones that are not
of you Father. He will love you with all his heart with his entire
mind and with all his soul. With readiness of mind he shall
search the scriptures daily for his daily walk with you. He will
serve the Lord with all humility of mind. That he will know the
mind of the Spirit because it maketh intercession for him
according to the will of God. Therefore let this mind, which was

Deliver him from every cage mentality in the name of Jesus.
Every demonic cage restricting his life receives the fire of God
on it. Every cage of non-achievement working against him
return to the sender, bring him out every house of bondage.
Every good thing that has been kept from his life I thank you
Lord that it will find him by fire. He will achieve what no one in
his family has been allowed to achieve. And I pray that he will
love his wife as Christ loves the church and also died for it,
that he will love her as he loves himself. In Jesus name

It's really important when standing for a marriage to do everything you're able to
build your faith. It's faith that moves mountains (Matthew 21:21). I know from my
own experience during my stand that I need to regularly set aside specific time to
pray and allow the Holy Spirit to build my faith and speak to my heart. Often I will
just feel a sense of peace but sometimes the Lord gives me a small instruction to
carry out or I can receive a picture to encourage me. Below are the prayers I use
regularly in my stand for my covenant marriage.

I also regularly pray a hedge of thorns around my husband. This is to protect him
and separate him from any other lovers and I pray that the Lord will give him eyes
only for me his covenant wife.

Build a 'Hedge of Thorns' by Prayer:

The Scriptural basis for the "hedge of thorns" is found in several passages. First of
all, God looks for an intercessor to make up a "hedge" of protection. (Ez.22:30). Job
is an example of such a man in the O.T. (Job 1:5-12)
He prayed for God's protection over his family - including his sons and daughters
whom he feared cursed God in their hearts. The result was that God "made an
hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that He had on every side".
By building a "hedge" around an unfaithful partner, his/her "lovers" lose interest and
Satan is no more able to take your partner captive "at his will". Satan must get
clearance from God for whatever he does, and his actions become God's dealings in
love. II Timothy 2:25-26; II Corinthians 12:7; Job 1:5-10)
A further illustration of the hedge is found in Hosea. God promised to make a hedge
of thorns around Hosea's adulterous wife so that her lovers would lose interest in
her. (Hosea 2:6-7)
After God built a hedge of thorns around Hosea's unfaithful wife, and her lovers left
her, she decided to return to her husband. However, if she was to remain under his
authority and protection, there were several things that he had to do. These are
listed in Hosea 2:14-16.
The NT counterpart to this truth is illustrated in Christ's interecession for Peter
(Lk.22:31-38) and for his disciples (John 17:12 - the hedge of prayer - none lost but
the son of perdition). It is also illustrated in Paul's prayer for those under his spiritual
care.

The basic teaching of Scripture on the hedge is found in II Cor. 10:4-5 "For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down
of strong holds."
This emphasizes the fact that Satan is able to have powerful holds on our mind, will,
and emotions, but that through God we can and must pull them down.
The purpose of "binding Satan" (Matt.12:29) and building a "hedge of protection"
around your partner is so that you can proceed "casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
PRAY: 'Heavenly Father, I ask you in the name and through the blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ, to build a 'hedge of thorns around _________. I pray that through this
hedge, any other lover will lose interest and depart. I base this prayer on Your Word
which commands that what You have joined together, let not man put asunder'
(Matthew 19:6)

Restore a Spirit of Oneness:

The Bible teaches over and over the importance of forgiving others. Before we are
able to begin restoring a spirit of oneness we will need to be sure we have forgiven
our spouse for all past offences. Forgiveness releases us and our spouses and allows
the Lord to move into our circumstances and begin to bring about his will in our
lives. In Hosea we read about how he wooed his wife back from her lovers and the
methods he used to bring this about. This can be applied to our own situations.

Prayer for a Healed Marriage

I have put Husband or Him in the prayer. Replace it with Wife or her if need be.
Lord, deliver my husband from the power of darkness, and cause him to put on the
armor of light. Help him in his daily walk to put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and Cause
him to turn his eyes away from worthless things...to come to his senses, and escape
the snare of the devil. Deliver him from immorality, strife, and envy, and draw him
close to You, Father, with a true and contrite heart. Create in him a hunger and thirst
for You and Your righteousness, and revive him in Your ways. I ask that You and fill
him with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that
he might have a walk worthy of You, Lord, fully pleasing You, being fruitful in every

good work,and increasing in the knowledge of You, strengthened with all might,
according to Your glorious power.
Bring him into the calling that You have predestined for him; help him to serve You
with a loyal heart and with a willing mind, and instruct him in the way he should go.
Let him a be doer of the Word and not a hearer only, meditating in Your Word day
and night. Establish his heart, so he will never be shaken, and show him a way of
escape with every temptation. Let him owe no man anything except his love. A love
that is in deed and truth, not just in word and speech. Let him be a volunteer
serving You in the time of Your power. Seeking first Your kingdom so that he will reap
abundant blessings.
I pray that he will honour You with his possessions and with the first fruits of his
increase; Praising the Lord with his whole heart in the assembly of the upright and
in the congregation, walking humbly with You Lord, being determined to act justly,
loving mercy and righteousness, being gracious and full of compassion.

A PRAYER AGAINST INFIDELITY IN MARRIAGE!

Right now, in the name of Jesus, we plead the blood against the demon of
unfaithfulness in marriage. We command the words of 1 Corinthians
6:18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside
the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. We
speak a halt to the violation of the body and marriage, perpetrated by sexual
sins, committed outside of the marriage. We break down and dismantle the
spirit of lust that ensnares husbands and wives to step outside of their
marriage for physical and visual satisfaction. We pray the words of Matthew
5:28 over every husband in marriage; But I say to you that everyone who
looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her
in his heart. We band the spirit of lust and loose the spirit of marital
satisfaction. We speak that the bed of the other woman/man would reject
and expel every cheating spouse. We block the passage of every sexual
disease acquired outside of the marriage from infecting the innocent spouse
and the guilty alike.
We speak strength to the husbands in marriage that he will be able to resist
the temptation of the enemy. We expose the tricks of the enemy
today!! Proverbs 6:25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let
her capture you with her eyelashes. We establish a wall of protection around
the mind and desires of husbands and wives from being pulled into adultery
by those the enemy sends to destroy their marriage.

We pull down the strong hold of infidelity and loose the spirit if
fidelity. Satan, we command to loose your grip off of God ordained
marriages. We now expel you from your seat of infidelity and command you
to vacate the bonds of Gods holy covenant in marriage.
We declare and decree the restoration of every Godly marriage that has been
affected by infidelity and pronounce failure upon every attempt my he
enemy to separate what God has joined together, in Jesus' mighty name,
amen!

YOUR DEAD MARRIAGE CAN COME BACK TO LIFE!

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set
me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I
saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, "Son
of man, can these bones live?" I said, "O Sovereign LORD, you alone know." Then he said to me,
"Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what
the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.
I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put
breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'" Ezekiel 37:16
Is your marriage dead in the eyes of your husband or wife? Do all your friends and loved ones
see you hurting so badly that they want you to get on with your life? What has the Lord been
speaking to your heart? Yes, in those darkest hours of your life when you feel like you cannot cry
anymore. Your heart is hurting so badly that it feels like it is going to explode and you wish that
the horrible pain in your heart would go away. It will, but the Lord wants You to seek His face
and ask Him to remove the pain as He takes you on a spiritual journey.
The righteous cry out, and the Lordhears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The
Lordis close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous
person may have many troubles, but the Lorddelivers him from them all Psalm 34:17-19
What is God speaking to your heart? I know that God is speaking one special message to you
that you must believe now. "I love you. I will never leave or forsake you. Turn to Me for your
hope. Seek Me for doing My will and way for your life and marriage. Nothing is too hard for Me.
I can restore your dead marriage."
I pray that you will throw away the "time" card that the enemy keeps tormenting you with, as
nothing is too hard for the Lord. He can breathe new life into your dead marriage in His perfect
timing.
Tonight read Ezekiel 37 for your devotions. You will be blessed. The Lord gave this scripture to

me over 25 years ago. God spoke to my heart and said, "Your husband and the courts say your
marriage is dead, but I am going to breathe new life into it." What is the Lord saying to you?
Will you listen, believe and stand firm until the Lord resurrects your dead marriage by breathing
new life into both of you?
By the power of the Spirit of God, Ezekiel sees in a vision a valley full of dry bones. The bones
represent "The whole house of Israel." The vision was given to assure the exiles who were in
captivity that they would be restored by God's power in spite of their hopeless circumstances.
God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones. The vision was to give them hope and
encouragement in spite of their present circumstances. Ezekiel was revealing to the Israelites that
they would be raised back to life and be able to go back to their promised land. They would, also
have a spiritual restoration of their faith.
Today ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart as you read this chapter in the Bible. You may
want to read this as an allegory to your marriage. Allow the Holy Spirit to breathe on you new
faith, hope, and trust in God's resurrection power to bring life back to things that appear to be
dead! Your Lord God wants to show the world His mighty power for God to get all the glory,
honor and praise when your marriage is raised back to life again.
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling
sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on
them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. Then he said to me, "Prophesy to
the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come
from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.'" So I prophesied
as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feeta
vast army. Ezekiel 37:7-10
Your marriage, just like approximately 50 percent of all marriages around the world, is dried up,
hopeless, with no life or love in the marriage. Married couples are play acting, trying to survive,
and their hearts and emotions are screaming inside with pain, hurt or rejection. Many consider
their marriage dead and hopeless. Then one spouse decides to divorce. At least one parent does
not realize what they are doing to their children for their entire life. We know because now we
are working with standers who were raised in a single parent home and do not know how to love
their spouse unconditionally or how to communicate properly with their husband or wife. God
hates divorce for many reasons.
If someone were to write a book, telling every hurting couple what to do to reignite their love as
it was at the beginning of their marriage, how long would the line be to buy that book? Jesus
Christ is the answer! God has written a manual called the Bible with His instructions regarding
marriage and so many other topics. The church needs to become the Critical Care unit for both
husbands and wives' hearts to be healed, resurrected, love rekindled and reignited and then filled
with unconditional love for each other.
Do you believe in God's awesome mighty power? How big is your God? Does everyone say to
you, "Your marriage is dead, get over it, and move on?" Your marriage may appear to be dead
right now. Yes, I had a big flashing "D" on my forehead saying it was dead! But God! That is
right, "But, God!" said, "Trust Me. Have faith! Don't give up. I will restore your marriage. I will
breathe new life back into your marriage in spite of ALL your circumstances! Believe in me!"
I had to make a choice that day. I chose to believe and cried out for my husbands heart, eyes and
ears to hear the Lords voice and to hear and see Gods truths, to set Bob free from Satans prison
of sin. I kept praising and thanking the Lord in advance for what He was doing on the other side
of our mountain of divorce and him planning a wedding with the other person. I trusted my Lord

even when it seemed impossible. The Holy Spirit CAN breathe new life into your marriage,
regardless of the condition it is in today. I pray that these verses below will become like a "rhema
word" for you personally. Your Lord God wants to show His mighty power to you and everyone
around you!
Therefore prophesy and say to them: "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am
going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of
Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring
you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own
land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.'"
Ezekiel 37:12-14
Will you start praying that the Holy Spirit will move and speak to your husband/wife and
thousands of prodigals around the world to come to their senses and surrender their lives to the
Lord Jesus Christ? Will you pray in agreement with thousands of other standers every day that
the Holy Spirit will breathe new life into dead marriages? The Lord wants your spouse to repent,
touching and changing their sinful lives forever! Right now prodigal spouses are slaves to their
own sinful lifestyle, but suddenly the Lord will call their name and they will be set free. There is
freedom in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. May God have a mighty harvest every day of the
week as we prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday. Remember, we were remarried on a
Wednesday! Expect your miracle to happen any day of the week!

Lord you are a sun and shield; my Husband life be protected by you in the day and
the night. I rebuke all spirits of witchcraft,lust,seduction,intimidation,idolatry, and
whoredom connected to Jezebel. I release the spirit of Jehu against Jezebel and her
cohorts (2 Kings 9:30-33) I command Jezebel to be thrown down and eaten by the
hounds of heaven in my Husbands life right now. I loose the hounds of heaven
against Jezebel(1 Kings 21:23) I loose my Husband from evil doers and evil soul ties.
I cast out all marriage breaking spirits of lust that would break covenant in the
name of Jesus. I release the fire of God to burn out all unclean lust from my
Husbands life. I break and destroy all ungodly soul ties with former lovers and
sexual lovers. My Husband receives the spirit of Holiness in his life to walk in sexual
purity in the name of Jesus ( Rom. 1:4) Lord Jehovah NISSI Isaiah 43:26 my case is
I'm exhausted from fighting for my Husband I have seen him committ adultery go
after women and he still is Lord please get ahold of him today and destroy Jezebel
once and for all and all lust. Everything I have went through flip today and bless me
with a loving faithful Husband to never again hurt me or our kids in Jesus Name
