CARSON CITY – The 38th annual Carson City
Frontier Days will be “a weekend to celebrate” ac-
cording to event organizers. The festival will take
place Thursday, June 3, through Sunday, June 6, in
Carson City.
“Our group works for an entire year to bring the
best celebration we can to the community,” said Car-
son City Frontier Days President Lainie Niemi. “It is
our goal to provide a great, family-friendly event to
the community and to visitors so that everyone has
a wonderful time, all without breaking their budget.
Our sponsors are the best; we are honored to have
them. And we’re especially excited about the addi-
tion of Saturday-night fireworks this year.”
Hot-air balloons will be the showcase event of
the festival again this year, with 20 pilots on deck
to take center stage in the sky to thrill the crowds.
Each balloon is sponsored by a different individual
or business in the community.
The title sponsors for the entire Frontier Days
weekend are Carson Health Network/Carson City
Hospital and Sparrow. The site host is Carson City-
Crystal High School, which is where the majority of
the planned activities will be taking place.
“We know how important it is to help support
the continuation of this event in any way we can,”
said Carson City Hospital President and CEO Bruce

able Bassett Hound/
Lab mix who’s looking
for a new home. He’s
just one of the many
dogs and cats avail-
able for adoption at
the Montcalm County
Animal Shelter in Stan-
ton. Duke is about 4
months old, weighs
about 8 lbs, and will
not be very tall when he grows up,
up on account
acco of his short stumpy
legs. This unique puppy was picked up as a stray on May 11, and
unless his owners come to claim him, he’ll be available for adoption
starting May 18. Duke is started on all his vaccinations except ra-
bies, but will need a booster shot after he is adopted out. His shelter
ID# is 10/05/14.
Many other dogs besides Duke are available to be adopted,
and plenty of cats too. Go online to
www.petfinder.com/shelters/montcalm.html
for a full list of adoptable animals.
There is a $40 adoption fee for dogs, $20 for cats, as well as a re-
fundable spay/neuter deposit ($50 for dogs, $25 for cats) unless the
animal is “fixed” already. New animals are brought into the shel-

you call, the Montcalm County Animal Shelter will do its best to
