FADE IN

INT. – AMANDA BECKETT’S SUBURBAN HOUSE

HALLWAY

AMANDA BECKETT, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed All-American


type college girl in her late-teens, is standing in the
hallway of her parents’ home saying goodbye to her PARENTS
as she’s preparing to leave for the airport.

With a large traveling bag slung over her shoulder, she


hugs her mom and then her dad.

AMANDA
Bye mom…bye daddy!

AMANDA’S MOTHER
(worriedly)
Bye baby, I’ll miss you!

AMANDA
Ohh mom, I’ll only be gone for a week.
Besides, we hardly see each other since
I’ve been in college anyways.

AMANDA’S MOTHER
I know, but still, you’re traveling all
the way down to Mexico. It’s my job to
worry.

AMANDA’S FATHER
Yeah honey, you watch out down there and
take care of yourself.

AMANDA
Dad, I’ll be fine! I’m going to be with
Michael and his friend Brendan, not to
mention my friend Julie. We’re hanging
out as a group for the whole time, we’ll
be safe.

AMANDA’S FATHER
I hope so, I don’t want to regret my
decision to let you go down there.

AMANDA
(laughs)
Ohhh dad, like you had a choice in the
matter.

AMANDA’S FATHER
Hey let your old man think that he still
has some power in his family.

A car horn HONKS off screen.

Amanda walks over to the door and sees a convertible drive


up to the front of the house with her boyfriend, MICHAEL,
driving and her other friends BRENDAN and JULIE, a cute
petite brunette, riding in the back.

She gives them a big wave upon seeing them pull up.

AMANDA
I have to go now.

AMANDA’S FATHER
OK, if you run into any problems, just
head to the American consulate.

AMANDA
Dad, you watch too much Dateline NBC.

AMANDA’S FATHER
That may be so, and I may be an over
protective dad, but I’m just looking out
for you.

Amanda kisses her dad on the cheek.

AMANDA
I love you dad.

AMANDA’S FATHER
Love you too honey.

Amanda skips out of the house.

EXT. – AMANDA BECKETT’S SUBURBAN HOUSE – DAY

Amanda excitedly runs across the yard and into the waiting
car.

INT. – MICHAEL’S CONVERTIBLE

All four of them are dressed in their beach gear and


sunglasses, ready to hit Cancun for Spring Break even
though the suburban Chicago area that they live in isn’t
that warm yet.

The other three friends are laughing and giggling,


listening to loud hip hop music, as Amanda enters the car.

Once in the car, Amanda leans over and gives her boyfriend,
Michael, a tall, good-looking guy in his late teens, a kiss
on the lips.

After she kisses him, she raises her arms up in excitement.

AMANDA
Spring Break!!!

THE OTHER THREE


Spring Break!!! Whooo!

Amanda turns the already loud radio up even more.

AMANDA
Let’s turn the music up! It’s time to
party!

MICHAEL
Yo guys, this Spring Break is going to be
sick!

BRENDAN
You got that right! I’m hoping for
legendary, epic stories!

Michael puts his hand up and gets high-fived by Brendan who


is sitting behind him.

AMANDA
Well I’ll try my best to deliver those
stories.

MICHAEL
Hey, don’t try too hard, ok baby? I want
you all to myself.

AMANDA
Mike, I didn’t mean it like that! I’m
just going to have fun and get drunk,
that’s all!

JULIE
I’m so excited! No school for the next
week, no worries…

BRENDAN
(interrupts her)
And we’re going to a place where we can
legally drink!

Everyone cheers to that comment.

BRENDAN
How awesome is that?!? We don’t have
to worry about our fake IDs getting
confiscated or underage drinking
citations.

MICHAEL
Cancuuuuunnnnn!

Michael drags out the second syllable for an extend period


of time.

THE OTHER THREE


(in unison)
Cancuuuuunnnnn!

EXT. – SIGHTS OF CANCUN, MEXICO – SUNNY DAY

Several scenes of the typical “fun in the sun” sights of


Cancun – girls walking down the street in bikinis, groups
of beefcake guys drinking outside at bars, people surfing
and parasailing on the water and high waves crashing into
the shore as girls and guys lay out on the beach.

EXT. – A CANCUN BEACH RESORT – DAY

A Jeep Wrangler carrying the four friends pulls up to the


front of the resort. All of them get out of the car and
look around in amazement at the size of the resort and the
sights of the palm trees lining the property.

AMANDA
This place is beautiful.

Michael walks up to her and gives her a kiss on the cheek.

MICHAEL
And so are you…

Michael grabs Amanda’s hand and leads her to the front


entrance of the resort.

MICHAEL (cont’d)
Come, let’s check-in so that we can hit
the beach.

INT. – HOTEL ROOM

Amanda, Julie and Brendan are unpacking their suitcases on


their separate double beds when Michael barges into the
room carrying a bottle of tequila and margarita mix with
some cups.

MICHAEL
Margarita time!

The others stop unpacking and jump up and down in


excitement.

AMANDA
Woo hoo!

MICHAEL
Come, take a cup.

Everyone grabs a cup and Michael puts the bottles down on


the table and starts making margaritas for everyone.

MICHAEL
Ice, we need ice.

BRENDAN
I’ll grab some.

Brendan picks up a trash can, dumps out the trash and runs
out the door to get ice.

MICHAEL
Let’s do a quick drink here then head
down to the beach.

AMANDA
Sounds good. I bought a new bikini just
for the trip. Here, check it out.

Amanda goes through her suitcase and takes out her new
bikini to show Michael. He walks over to feel it.

MICHAEL
Wow, that looks nice. I hope you enjoy
putting this on now as much as I’ll enjoy
taking it off later.

JULIE
Ewww, gross! Come on guys.

Brendan walks back into the room with a trash can full of
ice and puts it down on the table.

BRENDAN
OK, I got the ice!

JULIE
Ice in a trash can? Classy!

BRENDAN
Hey, it’s Mexico! This is probably the
cleanest thing we’re going to put into
our mouths this week.

All four of them huddle around the table and finish making
their margaritas.

MICHAEL
Especially for Julie, assuming she blows
you this week Brendan.

Julie slaps him in the stomach.

AMANDA
Nice, really nice.

JULIE
Talk about class.

BRENDAN
Asshole.

MICHAEL
I’m just screwing around.

Michael makes a toast.

MICHAEL (cont’d)
OK, put your cups up. Here’s to a kick
ass Spring Break in Cancun!

All four of them “cheers” and take a sip of their drink.

AMANDA
Let’s listen to some tunes!

Amanda runs over to the stereo on the other side of the


room, turns it on and starts playing around with it until
she finds a good station playing Latin music.

MICHAEL
Turn it up Amanda!

Once Amanda turns up the stereo, all four of them get into
the middle of the room and start dancing together as they
drink their margaritas.

EXT. – THE BEACH – DAY

Julie and Brendan are splashing each other in the water as


waves crash all around them.

Amanda and Michael are close by laying on the beach.


Amanda, who is wearing sunglasses, is laying on her back
soaking up the sun.

Michael is laying on his stomach, practically sleeping.


They’re holding each other’s hand.

AMANDA
This is the life Mike.

MICHAEL
(drowsy)
It certainly is.

AMANDA
Let’s move down here.

MICHAEL
And do what?

AMANDA
I don’t know, do we have to work?

MICHAEL
If we want to live, yes.

AMANDA
OK, well maybe you can become a bartender.

MICHAEL
I like that, what would you do though?

AMANDA
(thinking)
I don’t know, maybe a be shot girl.

MICHAEL
(laughs)
A shot girl? I was thinking more like
a tourist guide, or hotel concierge, for
you. Don’t those shot girls have to put
test tubes of booze in their cleavage
and have sweaty, disgusting men drink
them out? I don’t know, I thought I
saw that on a Wild On E! show once.

AMANDA
(thinking)
Yeah, maybe a tourist guide is better.

Julie and Brendan run up to them and pour a bucket of water


on Michael’s back. Startled, Michael flips around and
immediately gets up to chase Brendan.

MICHAEL
Ohhh you’re dead, you’re so dead!

Julie sits down next to Amanda where Michael was laying.

JULIE
Beautiful day isn’t it?

AMANDA
Yeah, it is. It’s hot though.

JULIE
The water’s nice and cool.

AMANDA
Good idea, I think I’m going to take a

dip while the boys horse around like a
couple of kids.

JULIE
They are so immature, aren’t they?

AMANDA
Yeah, yeah they are. But we love them
anyways.

JULIE
Yes we do.

AMANDA
OK, I’m going in.

JULIE
I’ll stay with the blanket.

Amanda stands up and slowly walks down to the water’s edge.


She sticks her foot into the water, fixes her bikini then
jumps right in head first for a swim.

LATER ON

Michael and Brendan are tossing the football to each other


on the beach as Amanda and Julie lay on a blanket close by.

MICHAEL
Yo, let’s go to the bar, my buzz is
wearing off.

BRENDAN
Yeah, we’ve done enough stressful
activity for the day anyways.

Michael and Brendan run over to the blanket where the girls
are laying on their stomachs. Michael playfully drops the
football on Amanda’s ass; she flips over in anger.

AMANDA
Jerk!

MICHAEL
Have you girls had enough sun yet?

Amanda looks at the time on her cell phone.

AMANDA
Yeah I think we’re good. We don’t want
to end up too burnt on the first day.

MICHAEL
Good, we’re heading up to the bar over
there to get our drink on.

JULIE
Sounds good, let’s do it.

Julie and Amanda stand up and grab the blanket while


Michael picks up the football, then they all walk up the
beach and over to a beachside bar.

EXT. – BEACHSIDE BAR – DAY

The four of them walk immediately up to the bar and Michael


gets the attention of the blonde bombshell-type BARTENDER.

MICHAEL
Can I get four beers and a funnel please?

AMANDA
A funnel?

MICHAEL
Hell yes! We’re on vacation!

BRENDAN
Spring Break!

MICHAEL, AMANDA, JULIE


Spring Break!

The bartender comes back carrying four beer cans and a long
funnel and gives them to Michael.

MICHAEL
OK, who’s up first?

BRENDAN
Lemme show the girls how it’s done.

Brendan gets in position by getting low to the ground and


putting the hose by his mouth.

MICHAEL
OK, you ready?

Brendan gives Michael a thumbs up.

BRENDAN
Yeah.

Michael opens the can of beer and pours it into the funnel,
he lifts it up and Brendan pounds the beer in seconds.

MICHAEL
Chug! Chug! Chug!

After he’s done, Brendan takes the hose out of his mouth,
shakes his head and gives Mike a high five.

BRENDAN
Damn that was good!

MICHAEL
Who’s next?

AMANDA
I’ll do it.

Amanda takes the hose, gets low to the ground and puts it
in her mouth.

MICHAEL
You ready honey?

AMANDA
Go for it dear!

Michael opens another can of beer, pours it into the funnel


and lifts it up.

Amanda funnels the beer much more slowly than Brendan but
she does do it with only minimal spilling.

Amanda jumps up in celebration when she’s done and hugs


Michael.

MICHAEL
OK, Julie your turn.

JULIE
Ohh, I don’t know, I’m not much of a
funnel girl.

MICHAEL
Come on don’t be a wimp.

BRENDAN
Honey, don’t embarrass me. Do it.

JULIE
(reluctantly)
OK, OK, OK, I’ll do it.
(pause)
I don’t even know what to do.

BRENDAN
Grab the hose.

Brendan grabs the hose and gives it to Julie.

BRENDAN (cont’d)
And get down on your knees.

Julie gets down on her knees and places the hose over her.

MICHAEL
Yeah, like you’re blowing Brendan.

Amanda hits Michael in the stomach.

AMANDA
Hey, be nice.

MICHAEL
I’m just trying to help her visualize
funneling so that she can do it.
Imagine the hose is Brendan’s dick…

Michael holds up the can of beer.

MICHAEL (cont’d)
…and this beer is his sperm.

JULIE
Ewww, gross.

Amanda hits Michael in the stomach again.

AMANDA
Mike, please stop it!

MICHAEL
(laughs)
OK, OK, OK, I’m sorry.

Julie puts the hose in her mouth.

MICHAEL
You ready?

JULIE
(mumbles)
Yeah.

Michael opens the beer can and pours it into the funnel,
then he lifts it up very slowly.

Julie starts drinking the beer very slowly until the hose
slips out of her mouth a few seconds later and the beer
spills all over her bikini soaking her.

The other three laugh at her misfortune, even Amanda.

MICHAEL
Ha, ha, nice.

Amanda walks over to the bar and grabs several cocktail


napkins so that Julie can dry herself off.

BRENDAN
Here, I’ll take care of that.

Brendan starts licking Julie’s neck and chest until she


pushes him away.

JULIE
Ewww, gross.

BRENDAN
You didn’t think that when I was doing
that to you last night.

JULIE
Well, that was different.

MICHAEL
Ahhh, Julie, you’re funny. You couldn’t
even do a funnel! What are you, eight
years old?

JULIE
OK big mouth, why don’t you do one?

MICHAEL
I don’t mind if I do.

Michael turns to the bartender and gets her attention.

MICHAEL
Excuse me, can I get two more beers
here?

The bartender drops off two more beer cans for him.
Michael grabs them and puts them next to his other beer.

MICHAEL
Watch this. You mere mortals looked
cute pounding a beer. I’m going to do
three.

Michael pours all three beers into the funnel, then he


lifts it up over his head and quickly pounds the beer in a
matter of a few seconds.

Once he’s done, Michael throws the funnel down in


celebration and high fives Brendan then makes out with
Amanda.

MICHAEL
That’s what I’m talking about! See
Julie, that’s how you do it!

BRENDAN
Let’s get more beers.

AMANDA
And margaritas.

All four of them go up to the bar and grab more drinks.


They walk over to a corner of the bar that looks out to the
water.

AMANDA
Such a beautiful day, it really is.

MICHAEL
You know what would make this day even
more beautiful?

AMANDA
No, what?

MICHAEL
Recreational drugs.

BRENDAN
Like what?

MICHAEL
I don’t know, weed, coke, crystal meth.
Whatever man, I just want to get fucked
up.

BRENDAN
Well, we’re in the right country to do
that.

JULIE
How are we going to score some drugs?

MICHAEL
It’s fucking Mexico! It shouldn’t be
too hard to find drugs here.
(looks at Brendan)
Brendan for your sake I hope Julie gives
good head, because there’s not much up
there in the brain department.

Julie takes a sip of her margarita through her straw then


spits it in Michael’s face.

JULIE
Screw you Mike. And what is your
fascination with blow jobs anyway? This
is like your third reference to it today.

MICHAEL
What can I say? I love head. Right
Amanda?

AMANDA
Keep me out of this.

MICHAEL
Anyways, I figure we can buy some drugs
off some street corner around here. It
should be as easy as that.

Brendan eyes two shady looking Mexican guys sitting over at


the bar.

BRENDAN
What about those guys over there? They
look shady, they might have some drugs
to sell.

Amanda, Julie and Michael look over to the bar.

AMANDA
Brendan, you are such a racist. You
think just because they’re Mexican,
they’re drug dealers?

BRENDAN
Well, yes.

AMANDA
So stereotypical.

MICHAEL
There’s only one way to find out. Let’s
go over there.

AMANDA
You know what, you guys can figure this
out on your own. Just find some dope
and tell us later what we owe.

MICHAEL
Fine. Brendan, you rolling with me?

BRENDAN
Yeah, I’m going.

MICHAEL
Let’s go then.

Michael and Brendan walk slowly over to the two MEXICANS


sitting at the bar quietly drinking beers by themselves.

Once they get to them, they spend a couple brief seconds


standing there in awkward silence until Michael finally
speaks up.

MICHAEL
(coughs)
Hola.

BRENDAN
Donde esta ingles?

MICHAEL
(whispers)
Dude, you just completely butchered that
line.

BRENDAN
(whispers)
No I didn’t.

MICHAEL
(whispers)
Yeah, you did.

BRENDAN
(whispers)
I doubt it…don’t forget I took two
semesters of Spanish in high school.

The Mexicans, not amused at all, just look at the two of


them and continue smoking their cigarettes.

One of them even intentionally blows smoke into Brendan’s


face.

MICHAEL
(whispers)
This is awkward, should we just walk
away?

BRENDAN
(whispers)
No, we got this far, we have to go through
with it.

MICHAEL
Habla ingles?

Finally one of the Mexicans, JUAN CARLOS, speaks up in a


very measured tone.

JUAN CARLOS
Yes, we speak English. What do you boys
want?

BRENDAN
(nervously)
Ummmm, we were just ummmm, looking for,
ummmm, we were thinking about maybe,
ummm, well, you know, ummm.

JUAN CARLOS
Are you guys OK?

Juan Carlos’ friend, PACO, leans over and whispers to him.

PACO
(whispers)
Gringos.

JUAN CARLOS
(laughs)
You got that right.

MICHAEL
Look, we’re just trying to score some
weed. Maybe coke too if we can find it.
Do you know where we can find some?

Juan Carlos looks Michael and Brendan up and down a few


times, sizing them up then he finally speaks again.

JUAN CARLOS
We can help you out in your predicament.

BRENDAN
(smiles)
Ha, I knew it!

MICHAEL
(whispers)
OK, no need to gloat.

Brendan takes out his wallet.

BRENDAN
Sooo, what can we get, how much is it?

Juan Carlos quickly puts his hand on Brendan’s wallet and


pushes it back down to his pocket.

JUAN CARLOS
Whoa, whoa, whoa essa. Not here, too

much heat from the police, especially
the undercover cops.

MICHAEL
OK, where then.

Juan Carlos points to a general direction outside of the


bar.

JUAN CARLOS
There’s a house two blocks down from
here, halfway down that road on the left.
Meet us there in a half an hour. There
you’ll be able to buy whatever you want,
in absolute safety.

MICHAEL
Sounds good.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, give them the address.

Paco writes down the address on a cocktail napkin and


passes it along to Michael.

JUAN CARLOS
Make sure you’re there in a half an hour
sharp. We don’t like to be kept waiting.

Juan Carlos stands up with Paco.

JUAN CARLOS
Make sure you bring cash too.

Juan Carlos and Paco finish their beers and walk away.

MICHAEL
Those dudes were kind of scary.

BRENDAN
Yeah, that must mean they’re good drug
dealers. I bet they have some grade A
shit.

MICHAEL
I guess that’s one way to look at it.

Michael and Brendan walk back over to the girls on the


other side of the bar.

JULIE
So what’s going on?

AMANDA
Did you get anything?

MICHAEL
We have to meet them at a house down the
street in a half an hour then they’ll
sell us stuff.

JULIE
So they were drug dealers?

MICHAEL
It sounds like it. I mean they haven’t
proved that they have any drugs yet, but
it sounds promising.

BRENDAN
Let’s grab another drink then we’ll head
over there.

JULIE
We’ll?

BRENDAN
Yeah all four of us. It’s on the way
back to the hotel so I figured we’d all
go there.

AMANDA
I don’t know, it sounds a little scary,
to go to a house down an alley way to
score some drugs.

BRENDAN
Oh come on, I’m sure this happens all
the time around here, all the time.
It’ll be fine.

MICHAEL
Besides, we don’t want you girls walking
around this city by yourselves. You’re
safer with us.

AMANDA
OK, fine.

EXT. – DIRT ROAD – DAY

Michael, Brendan, Amanda, and Julie are walking slowly down


the middle of a dirt road that’s bordered by small, rundown
houses on each side. Scary MEN are staring them down from
their front porches at a few of the houses along the road.

They’re still dressed in their swimsuits; but the girls are


each wearing short skirts and the guys are wearing t-
shirts.

Brendan is carefully studying the cocktail napkin that has


the house address on it.

MICHAEL
Do you know where we’re supposed to be
going?

BRENDAN
I’m not sure. I mean I think we’re on
the right street, I just don’t know which
house it is.

MICHAEL
It is kind of tough to see the numbers
on these houses.

The four come up to a house that has four luxury sports


cars parked in front of it.

MICHAEL
I’m going to bet that this house here is
the place we’re looking for.

JULIE
Why do you think that?

MICHAEL
Look around, none of these other houses
have a car in their driveway worth more
than $500. This house has not one, but
four nice sports cars in front of it.
I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

BRENDAN
That makes sense.

MICHAEL
Brendan, check that cocktail napkin again.

The four of them stand in front of the house as Brendan


examines his napkin again.

He looks up at the front of the house then looks back down


at the napkin; he does this a few times before noticing a
house number hidden behind a bush.

BRENDAN
49. This is it.

All four of them stand there for a few seconds in awkward


silence until Michael speaks up.

MICHAEL
OK, let’s do this.

BRENDAN
Let’s pool our money first so we don’t
have to stand in the house and fiddle
around with our money in front of the
dealers.

MICHAEL
Good idea.

Amanda and Julie reach into their purses and fish out some
money.

AMANDA
I have $80 on it.

JULIE
I have $60.

Brendan and Michael both reach into their pockets and pull
out money.

BRENDAN
I have $150.

MICHAEL
I got $150 too.

Michael collects the money from everyone.

MICHAEL
OK, let me handle this. I’ll do the
talking and negotiating too.

AMANDA
Fine with me.

The four of them walk slowly up to the front door, Michael


knocks.

After a few seconds, a YOUNG MEXICAN, only in his mid-


teens, opens the door.

MEXICAN TEENAGER
Yo.

MICHAEL
Hi, we were invited over here from the
bar down the street about a half hour
ago.

The teenager doesn’t say anything further, he just opens


the door wide and steps out of the way so that the four of
them can walk in.

INT. – RUNDOWN DRUG HOUSE OFF DIRT ROAD

The four enter a dark, mostly vacant house where the only
light is provided by the sunlight that manages to peek
through the windows which are mostly covered up.

They are greeted silently by three MEXICANS in a living


room that is nearly empty except for a beaten up couch, a
couple chairs, a broken table and a small TV.

The three rough-looking young Mexicans in their mid-to-late


twenties, standing in the middle of the room looking tough,
are a stark contrast to the four pristine young American
kids standing by the front door.

MICHAEL
(innocently)
Hi, we’re here to buy some drugs.

The young Mexicans continue to stare them down until one of


them walks out of the room. The others stare intently at
the beautiful Amanda, who is wearing a bikini top and a
very short skirt.

Visibly nervous, the American kids stand there silently


while they wait.

The young Mexican walks back into the room followed by Juan
Carlos, whose holding a cigar in his hand.

BRENDAN
(innocently)
Hey, it’s the guy from the bar…

Paco also walks into the room so that now the Americans are
outnumbered by the Mexicans.

BRENDAN
And it’s the other guy from the bar,
Paco.

Juan Carlos walks up to Michael and shakes his hand firmly.

JUAN CARLOS
I’m Juan Carlos.

MICHAEL
(nervously)
I’m Mike.

JUAN CARLOS
What can I do for you?

MICHAEL
We’re looking to party.

JUAN CARLOS
I know that, what exactly are you looking
for?

MICHAEL
As much blow as $440 can buy.

JUAN CARLOS
I think we can do that. You got the
cash?

MICHAEL
Yes, yes.
(reaches into his pocket
and takes out the money)
First we have to see the product.

JUAN CARLOS

(turns around to Paco)

(looks back at the Americans)

Paco leaves the room.

MICHAEL
(looks to his friends)
No, we’re fine here.

JUAN CARLOS
Very trusting of you, don’t worry we
won’t screw you.

A couple of the young Mexicans continue staring intently at


Amanda. She finally notices their eyes going through her
and becomes self-conscious so she hides behind Michael.

MICHAEL
(whispers)
Are you OK?

AMANDA
(whispers)
Yeah.

JUAN CARLOS
So you all down here for spring break?

MICHAEL
Yeah, we’re in college and came down
here to blow off steam.

BRENDAN
…and party.

MICHAEL
Hence the coke.

I hear you, that’s cool. Where are you
from?

MICHAEL
Just right out of Chicago, a suburb
around there.

Juan Carlos look both Julie and Amanda up and down.

JUAN CARLOS
You’re women are very beautiful.

MICHAEL
(nervously)
Thanks.

Juan Carlos walks right up to Julie and gently rubs his


finger down the side of her face.

JUAN CARLOS
Very beautiful.

Julie stands close to Brendan and grabs his hand.

Juan Carlos is standing in front of the four while his


Mexican friends stand behind him and stare the Americans
down.

He takes a big puff from his cigar and blows the smoke
right in Michael’s face as a sign of intimidation.

MICHAEL
(coughs)
Thank you for that.

JUAN CARLOS
I’m sorry, did you say something?

MICHAEL
(nervously)
Ummm, no.

The tension is incredibly high in the room and continues to


grow during the silence.

Juan Carlos backs off and walks around the room.

First time down here?

MICHAEL
Yeah, first time.

JUAN CARLOS
Once you get your stuff, how are you
going to celebrate?

MICHAEL
(confused)

JUAN CARLOS
Where are you all partying tonight?

MICHAEL
Oh, I’m not sure.

BRENDAN
We were thinking about hitting up Senor
Frog’s tonight. I’ve heard it’s awesome.
Party Central.

JUAN CARLOS
Senor Frog’s, good place. Nice vibe.

Paco comes back into the room carrying a bag of coke and
hands it over to Juan Carlos.

JUAN CARLOS
Well, here you are.
(takes the money out of
Mike’s hands)
Enjoy the party.

MICHAEL
Thanks.

The four Americans walk over to the front door and Julie
opens it.

JUAN CARLOS
If you need anything else during your
stay in Cancun, you just come back, OK?

MICHAEL
Sure.

As Amanda walks out the door, she turns back and sees a
couple of the Mexicans staring at her again. She quickly
leaves.

Paco closes the door once all four of the Americans walk
out. Juan Carlos walks over to a window and moves the
curtain slightly to watch them walk down the street.

PACO
There walks some fine-looking American
bitches.

JUAN CARLOS
You got that right.

PACO
So fine.

JUAN CARLOS
It sounds like they’re going to Senor
Frogs tonight.

PACO
I guess we know what we’re doing tonight
then.

JUAN CARLOS
Yeah, I’d like to get to know those girls
a little bit more.

PACO
We could make some serious money off of
them.

JUAN CARLOS
Yeah, especially that blonde one.

EXT. – DIRT ROAD – SUNSET

Amanda, Julie, Michael and Brendan are walking up the


street away from the drug house.

MICHAEL
That was a little nerve-racking.

AMANDA
A little? That’s an understatement.

BRENDAN
Ohhh it was fine.

Brendan runs up behind Michael, grabs the bag of coke out


of his back pocket and holds it up.

BRENDAN (cont’d)
And we got party favors now!

AMANDA
Those guys were scary.

MICHAEL
(sarcastically)
Yeah and thankfully Brendan was nice
enough to tell them where we’re going
tonight for some reason.

BRENDAN
Relax, they were fine, they’re harmless
little drug dealers.

MICHAEL
Well I wasn’t comfortable telling them
what we were doing tonight, you should’ve
just followed my lead.

Brendan throws his hands up to dismiss Michael.

BRENDAN
Whatever.

AMANDA
Those little Mexican guys were staring
at me the whole time. It’s like they
were undressing me with their eyes.

MICHAEL
(laughs)
You’re just imagining things babe.
Look you’re hot, you’re ridiculously hot,
I know that; but you can’t think that
every hard up guy is undressing you with
their eyes. Seriously.

AMANDA
I know that Mike, but they made me
uncomfortable.

Amanda’s right, did you not see that
creepy Juan Carlos guy rub my face?

BRENDAN
Oh come on Julie, maybe that’s how they
greet people in Mexico. It’s not like
we know all the cultural nuisances down
here, we’ve only been in Cancun for a
few hours.

MICHAEL
Look, let’s forget about all this. We
got our stuff now let’s go and party.

AMANDA
Fine by me.

INT. – HOTEL ROOM

Amanda snorts a long line of cocaine off a glass table with


a dollar bill. Once done, she immediately sniffs in, looks
up to the ceiling and rubs her nose.

There’s loud music playing in the background, she, Brendan


and Julie are dressed up in their best club clothes and
there are several other lines of coke laid out on the
table.

Brendan taps Amanda on the shoulder to get her to move.

BRENDAN
OK, OK, OK my turn.

Brendan takes the rolled-up dollar bill from Amanda and


snorts a line of coke.

BRENDAN
Arrrgh, this coke is awesome!

Michael walks out of the bathroom wearing his best club


clothes – an Ed Hardy t-shirt and designer jeans.

AMANDA
Looking good honey!

MICHAEL
I’m feeling good babe! Let’s party!

BRENDAN
Have a party favor first.

Julie snorts a line of coke then passes the bill over to


Michael.

MICHAEL
I don’t mind if I do.

Michael snorts the last line of coke on the glass table.

Julie and Brendan are sitting together on one of the beds.

BRENDAN
Hey Jules, I heard that if you put coke
on your dick it makes it go numb, can I
do that and you snort it off of me?

JULIE
(hits him in the stomach)
Ewww, you’re so gross sometimes.

BRENDAN
Thought I’d just ask.

Michael grabs a bottle of tequila off the dresser, takes a


swig of it then grabs Amanda and starts dancing with her.

He puts the bottle up to Amanda’s mouth and makes her drink


some of it, then he grinds with her to the music.

Brendan and Julie stand up and start dancing in the middle


of the room as well.

Michael takes out some more coke from his pocket and takes
a quick hit then he gives some to Amanda so that she can
take a hit.

He passes some of it over to Brendan so that both he and


Julie can take a hit.

Then Michael passes the bottle of tequila over to Julie so


she can drink some with Brendan.

MICHAEL
Should we go hit up the club now?

BRENDAN
Yeah, let’s do it!

You good Amanda?

AMANDA
(throws her arms up in
the air)
Let’s party!

Amanda grabs her purse and digs through it to find her pack
of Trident chewing gum.

AMANDA
First though, anyone want a piece of
gum? We don’t want to hit the club
without having minty-smelling breath.

MICHAEL
Yeah, I’ll take a piece.

JULIE
Me too.

BRENDAN
And me.

Amanda passes out a piece of gum to everyone and the four


of them get ready to leave the hotel.

MICHAEL
(points to the table)
Brendan, grab the coke for the club.

BRENDAN
Ahhh yes, we don’t want to forget the
most important thing.

Brendan grabs the bag of coke on the way out the door.

INT. – SENOR FROG’S

The nightclub is packed with young people dancing and


grinding on each other to the loud music.

It’s a very festive, energetic atmosphere – people are


dressed in their best club clothes, some guys are shirtless
while some girls are barely clothed.

Amanda, Michael, Julie and Brendan are dancing together in


the middle of the club.

A sexy, female bartender grabs a megaphone and jumps onto


the bar.

SENOR FROG’S BARTENDER


(screams)
OK all you bitches in here, I’m talking
to you guys too, come over here for a
free shot of Ass Juice, it’s my own
special concoction!

The bartender grabs a bottle filled with red liquid off of


the bar.

SENOR FROG’S BARTENDER


(screams)
Come here now!

Michael grabs Amanda’s hand and drags her over to the bar.

The bartender walks over to the end of the bar and starts
pouring shots into the mouths of guys and girls standing
with their backs to the bar and their heads tilted back.

She makes her way along the bar until she gets to Michael.

SENOR FROG’S BARTENDER


Hey cute stuff!

MICHAEL
Hey.

SENOR FROG’S BARTENDER


I’ve got something special for you.

The bartender puts a shot in her mouth then leans over


until she’s just a few inches away from Michael’s mouth.

She spits the shot into his mouth then leans all the way
over to make out with him.

This lasts for a few moments until Amanda pulls him away
from her.

AMANDA
(angrily)
What are you doing?

MICHAEL
It’s Cancun baby!

Michael high fives Brendan who is standing behind him.

BRENDAN
I want in on that!

Brendan rushes to the bar and takes Amanda’s place. He


quickly turns his back to the bar and tilts his head back
to get ready for the shot.

The bartender just pours the shot down his throat like any
other normal customer.

BRENDAN
(disappointedly)
Hey where’s my kiss girl?

SENOR FROG’S BARTENDER


Sorry, you’re not as hot as your friend.

MICHAEL
(laughs)
Ohhh, diss!

Julie hugs Brendan to comfort him.

JULIE
Awww, honey I think you’re quite hot.

BRENDAN
Thanks Julie, come on let’s get back on
the dance floor.

Brendan grabs Julie’s hand and leads her back onto the
dance floor. Meanwhile, Amanda is angrily staring down
Michael.

AMANDA
So are you done making out with other
girls mister?

MICHAEL
Stop, it’s no big deal. Come on, it’s
Spring Break Cancun! Stuff like this is
bound to happen.

AMANDA
No big deal, huh?

MICHAEL

AMANDA
OK, we’ll see how you like it.

Amanda jumps onto the bar and sits on it, then she grabs
the megaphone from off the top of the bar.

AMANDA
(yells)
OK all you players and pimps…who wants
to take a body shot!

MICHAEL
What are you doing?

Michael is quickly pushed out of the way by a hoard of guys


that are rushing to the bar.

Amanda reaches behind the bar and grabs a bottle of tequila


then she lays down on her back across the bar and pours
some tequila in her navel.

AMANDA
Come and get it boys!

A guy immediately leans over and takes the shot off of her
body then grabs a lime off of the bar and sucks it.

AMANDA
Next!

This time Amanda sprinkles some salt around her stomach


before pouring another shot in her navel, then she grabs a
lime and puts it into her mouth.

Another guy walks up and licks the salt off of her, then he
drinks the shot out of her navel and leans over to suck the
lime of her mouth.

Amanda grabs the back of his head to keep him down there
and makes out with him.

Once done the guy turns around to his buddies and high-
fives all of them.

Juan Carlos is standing with Paco on the other side of the


room, far from the bar, watching Amanda.

AMANDA
Mike, this is so much fun, doesn’t this

Michael has had enough with watching Amanda’s antics and


pushes his way through the crowd to get to her.

MICHAEL
OK, you’ve had your fun, you’ve proved
your point, are you happy?

Michael picks up Amanda and carries her off the bar as the
other guys around him boo, he finally puts her down several
feet away.

AMANDA
Hey baby, why are you being like this?
It’s Spring Break Cancun! Stuff like
this is bound to happen.

MICHAEL
OK, I get it. I’m sorry!

AMANDA
That’s all I wanted to hear. You’re
not going to kiss anymore bartenders,
are you?

MICHAEL
No way, baby.

AMANDA
Good!

MICHAEL
Let’s get back on the dance floor, OK?

AMANDA
Yes, I just want to be with you anyways.

keeping a safe distance from them.

PACO
Those Americans do like to party.

JUAN CARLOS
Stupid Americans.

Paco notices Julie and Brendan dancing in the middle of


club and points them out to Juan Carlos.

PACO
There’s the other two JC.

JUAN CARLOS
Yep, I see them.

PACO
What do you want to do?

JUAN CARLOS
We can’t get too close since they’d
recognize us…call the boys in.

PACO
No problem.

Paco takes his cell phone out of his pocket and walks away
to get some quiet.

Back on the dance floor, Michael and Amanda dance over to


Brendan and Julie. All of them are pounding their beers.

Brendan pats Michael on the back.

BRENDAN
This is the life my man!

MICHAEL
I know, I’m drunk!

BRENDAN
Me too!

JULIE
Enough with all this talk.
(grabs Brendan’s face)

Brendan passionately kisses Julie on the dance floor, he


starts groping her and rubbing his hands up and down her
body. He also grabs her breasts and ass during their make-
out session.

MICHAEL

BRENDAN
We might have to in a few more minutes!

As Brendan and Julie stop making out, Amanda dances over to


Julie and grabs her around the waist. They start drunkenly
dancing together and Amanda starts making out with her.

Brendan and Michael are both in shock. Brendan starts


playfully hitting Michael on the back.

BRENDAN
Oh my god, oh my god, this is amazing!
Our girlfriends are making out with
each other!

MICHAEL
I don’t know what to say, I’m speechless,
I’m without speech.

BRENDAN
This is like my wet dreams come true.

MICHAEL
I don’t know exactly how I feel about

Brendan and Michael continue to stand there watching the


two of them dance with each other and make out.

Julie and Amanda slowly turn from making out with each
other to making out with their boyfriends.

After they’re done making out, Julie and Amanda drunkenly


light up cigarettes for themselves and start smoking in the
middle of the club.

MICHAEL
Ahhh jeez, again with the cigarettes.

AMANDA
Hey, I only smoke when I drink.

MICHAEL
But you drink all the time.

AMANDA
So?

MICHAEL
I’m just worried, those things will kill
you.

AMANDA
What are you my mom?

MICHAEL
No, I just care about you.

Amanda takes a puff of her cigarette and playfully blows


the smoke in his face.

Thanks, you’re acting like that drug
dealer now.

Amanda turns around and spanks her ass in front of Michael.

AMANDA

As she’s turned around, Amanda starts dancing with a


stranger.

MICHAEL
OK drunk girl.

Michael walks over to the bar again while the guy dancing
with Amanda gets a little physical with her – grinding with
her, lifting up her leg, putting his hands on her ass.

In a moment of clarity, Amanda finally realizes what’s


happening and she pushes the guy away from her.

AMANDA
Creep!

Amanda stumbles off of the dance floor. A shady-looking


MEXICAN in his mid-to-late twenties is eyeing Amanda from
across the club.

Amanda walks over to Michael at the bar and runs her


fingers through his hair.

AMANDA
(hiccups)
What are you doing baby?

MICHAEL
Just drinking another beer.

AMANDA
Can I join you?

MICHAEL
Of course. I even got you another beer.

Michael hands her a cup of beer, they “cheers” and take a


quick sip.

The shady-looking Mexican slowly makes his way closer to


Michael and Amanda.

MICHAEL
So what do you want to do tomorrow?

AMANDA
How about we just stay in our hotel room
all day tomorrow and fuck?

MICHAEL
OK, we can definitely do that but then
again we can do that back at my dorm
room in the States anytime. I thought
maybe we could do something tomorrow
that we can’t do in Chicago.

AMANDA
Like what?

MICHAEL
I don’t know, like parasailing or a
nature hike or checking out the ancient
ruins…this is Mexico, they must have
ancient ruins around here, or more
ancient ruins than what we have back
in Chicago.

The shady Mexican has now made it up to the bar and is


standing close to Amanda. He just stands there minding his
own business.

AMANDA
Let’s go hiking, that way we can have
sex in nature, alongside all the other
animals.

MICHAEL
I am down with that.

AMANDA
I thought you would be my little stud
muffin.

Amanda kisses Michael.

MICHAEL
How are you liking Cancun so far?

Amanda drapes herself on Michael and gives him a big hug


then a playful lap dance.

AMANDA (cont’d)

Amanda starts kissing Michael all over his face. While her
back is turned from her drink, the shady Mexican next to
her slips a pill into her beer cup which quickly dissolves.

At about the same time, the bartender gives him a new beer.
He takes it and walks away.

MICHAEL
OK, OK, OK baby, you’re tickling me.

AMANDA
I’m going to be doing a lot worse to
you when we get back to the room later.

MICHAEL
Let’s get back on the dance floor.

Michael grabs Amanda’s arm and tries to lead her to the


dance floor but Amanda stops him and drags him back to the
bar.

AMANDA
Wait, I need to get my beer.

Amanda grabs her beer, takes a large sip from it and walks
with Michael back to the dance floor and up to Brendan and
Julie.

BRENDAN
Gimme another bump Mike.

MICHAEL
Geez, another one?

BRENDAN
Yeah, I’m jonesing for more.

MICHAEL
You my friend are a drug addict.

Maybe so, but I need a hit.

Michael looks around to make sure the coast is clear from


cops, then he reaches into his pocket, takes out some coke
and discreetly passes it over to Brendan.

MICHAEL
Go easy on it though, I don’t want to
have to make another stop to that drug
house tomorrow. Pace yourself.

BRENDAN
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Brendan takes a bump of coke and then lets Julie take a


bump as he holds it in his hand.

Michael and Amanda go back to dancing but Amanda starts


getting visibly disoriented.

MICHAEL
Are you OK?

AMANDA
Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.

MICHAEL
Are you sure?

AMANDA
Yeah, I’m cool.

BRENDAN
Mike, Julie wants to get laid real bad.

JULIE
(hits Brendan on the arm)
Hey, like you don’t?

BRENDAN
We’re going to go christen the hotel room.

MICHAEL
OK.

Well we’re certainly not going to go back

to hang out here for a little bit longer.

BRENDAN

Baby I’m so drunk and so fucked up I’ll
probably need the full 45 minutes to
come.

JULIE
Amanda, don’t worry; just give us 30
minutes, tops.

MICHAEL
Sounds good.

Julie notices that Amanda isn’t looking too good.

JULIE
Amanda, are you OK?

MICHAEL
Yeah, she’s fine. I think she’s just
tired.

JULIE
OK, well if that’s the case, give us
just 25 minutes.

Brendan and Julie leave the bar.

Michael and Amanda go back to dancing, she periodically


takes a sip of her beer as she dances.

After a while the room starts spinning for Amanda and she
starts having double vision.

MICHAEL

Amanda grabs her forehead and shoos him away with her other

Yeah, yeah, I’ll be fine.

MICHAEL
OK, I’ll only be gone for a minute or
two. You can come with me to the bath-
room.

AMANDA
No, I’ll just hang out here. I’m a grown-
up, I can handle myself.

MICHAEL
OK, suit yourself.

Michael walks off to go to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Amanda


stays by herself in the middle of the dance floor. The
room is spinning even more for her and she’s completely
disoriented.

Several guys walk up to hit on her but she barely notices


it and completely dismisses them.

GUY AT SENOR FROG’S #1


Hey baby, how you doing?

Damn girl, you’re hot!

She starts stumbling across the dance floor. A few other


guys try to forcibly dance with her, one guy literally
grabs her and starts grinding on her, but she manages to
get away from each of them.

Dazed and confused, Amanda stumbles out of the bar.

notice her stumble out.

JUAN CARLOS
Call Miguel, tell him to get the van

The two Mexicans follow Amanda outside.

EXT. – STREET OUTSIDE OF SENOR FROG’S – NIGHT

Amanda is stumbling down a dimly lit, nearly empty, street.


She’s being trailed by a gang of Mexicans – Juan Carlos,
Paco and three of their associates – who get closer and
closer to her as she zig zags her way down the sidewalk.

INT. – SENOR FROG’S

Michael is standing in a line of about five guys waiting to


use the bathroom.

He taps his foot on the ground to pass the time and checks
his watch to make sure he hasn’t been gone for too long.

EXT. – STREET OUTSIDE OF SENOR FROG’S – NIGHT

As Amanda walks to the intersection of a quiet street, she


is approached by the group of Mexicans.

JUAN CARLOS
There you are girl!

AMANDA
(confused)
What?

JUAN CARLOS
Ahhh, come on, you already forgot me?
I sold you and your friends some stuff
earlier today.

AMANDA
(confused)
What?

JUAN CARLOS
Wow, you must really be fucked up.

The five Mexicans make a circle around Amanda so she has no


escape.

INT. – POLICE CAR

Two officers, who are sitting in a parked police car


alongside the road, see Amanda get surrounded by five
Mexicans.

One of the officers points out the girl to the other.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #1
Hey look over there, that blonde girl
looks like she might be in trouble!

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #2
Let’s check it out.

The two patrolmen get out of their car.

EXT. – STREET OUTSIDE OF SENOR FROG’S – NIGHT

The two patrolmen approach the gang of Mexicans and Amanda.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #1
Excuse me gentlemen.

PACO
Officers, is there a problem?

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #2
I guess that all depends on what you’re
up to this evening and what you’re
doing with this white girl here.

PACO
We’re just escorting this fine young
lady back to her hotel to make sure she
gets home OK.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #1
Miss, are you OK?

Amanda is so disoriented she can’t even answer the cops.

Juan Carlos, whose back has been to the cops the entire
time, finally turns around to face them.

JUAN CARLOS
What we’re doing with her is none of your
concern.

The two cops look mortified after seeing Juan Carlos since
they obviously recognize him.

JUAN CARLOS
You know who I am, right?

Juan Carlos lifts up his shirt slightly to reveal a handgun


in his waistband.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #2
(nervously)
But of course Juan Carlos.

JUAN CARLOS
It’s in your best interest to turn around,
walk the other way and forget what you
saw here.

Both patrolmen look back and forth a few times between Juan
Carlos and the helpless Amanda before answering.

Gracias senor.

JUAN CARLOS
Get going.

The two patrolmen walk away leaving a helpless Amanda to


fend for herself. She looks scared but she’s unable to do
anything about it.

INT. – POLICE CAR

The two patrolmen get into their car.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #2
Life’s too short to go against the Cancun
Drug Cartel.

MEXICAN PATROLMAN #1
At least we made some money out of it.

The cops slowly drive through the intersection and past the
group of Mexicans and Amanda. They look right at Amanda,
who is close to passing out and is being propped up by a
couple of the Mexicans.

EXT. – STREET OUTSIDE OF SENOR FROG’S – NIGHT

Juan Carlos looks back at Amanda.

JUAN CARLOS
Now it’s just you and us.

Juan Carlos runs his hands through her hair.

JUAN CARLOS
Too bad we couldn’t get your cute brunette
friend, but if anyone were to ask me,
I’d say we got the much prettier one.

Amanda ends up finally passing out and falls into Juan


Carlos’ arms.

Just as that happens, a white van pulls up right in front


of them and the side door opens up.

JUAN CARLOS
Get her in there.

Paco and the others help Juan Carlos put Amanda in the back
of the van. Once that’s done they all get in and drive off
quickly.

INT. – SENOR FROG’S

Michael returns from the bathroom and goes back to the


dance floor to find Amanda.

He goes to the exact spot where they were hanging out


before but he doesn’t see her so he does a 360 to look for
her.

When he doesn’t see her he starts walking through the club


looking for her.

MICHAEL
(yells)
Amanda! Amanda!

GUY AT SENOR FROG’S #3


Hey, shut up pal!

MICHAEL
Go fuck yourself asshole, I’m looking
for my girlfriend.

GUY AT SENOR FROG’S #3


She’s back at my hotel room waiting to
give me head.

Michael ignores his comment and continues walking around


the club.

Having walked through the whole place and not seeing her,
he walks up to the bartender behind the bar.

MICHAEL
Excuse me, but have you seen a cute,
blonde American girl about five feet
six, five feet seven, blue eyes…drunk?

Michael looks around the club and sees that most of the
girl’s are cute, drunk American blondes.

MICHAEL
(deflated)
Point taken.

Michael takes one more look through the club – walking


around a bunch of drunk people hanging out, people
funneling beers and doing body shots, guys grinding on
girls and others practically simulating sex on the dance
floor – but he doesn’t see her so he runs out of the club.

EXT. – STREET OUTSIDE OF SENOR FROG’S – NIGHT

Michael runs into the street from the club then takes out
his cell phone and dials Amanda’s number. It rings several
times then goes to voicemail.

AMANDA (O.S.)
Hi, you’ve reached Amanda, I can’t
come to the phone right now so please
leave a message and I’ll get back to
you as soon as I can.

MICHAEL
Amanda, Amanda, it’s me, where are you,
where did you go? Call me as soon as
you can, I’m worried.

Michael hangs up the phone then immediately texts her:


“Where are you?”

He puts his phone back into his pocket and looks up and
down the street, then he yells out.

MICHAEL
(yells)
Amanda! Amanda!

He looks both ways again but he doesn’t see her anywhere,


so he runs down the street and back towards his hotel.

EXT. – CANCUN BEACH RESORT – NIGHT

Michael runs up from the street and heads towards the front
entrance of the resort.

LOBBY

Michael runs through the lobby, past the concierge desk and
towards the elevator bank.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
(yells)
Hey, slow down there!
(to himself)
Stupid, drunk over privileged American
kids.

INT. – HOTEL ROOM

Michael opens the door to the room. It’s pitch dark in


there so he flips on the light.

Julie and Brendan are under the covers of their bed and
Julie is in the middle of moaning when Michael barges in.

Annoyed, Brendan throws a pillow at Michael.

BRENDAN
What the hell, bro?

JULIE
Yeah, didn’t we say 25 minutes? It’s
been, it’s been like only 17-18 minutes.

Michael ignores them.

MICHAEL
Where’s Amanda?

BRENDAN
(confused)
What?

MICHAEL
Amanda, did she come back here?

BRENDAN
What, do you think we were having a
threesome?

MICHAEL

BRENDAN
Really?

JULIE
She wasn’t looking good when we left her,
I hope she didn’t wander off.

MICHAEL
Me neither.
(pause)
Shoot! I knew I shouldn’t have left her
alone in the club. Shoot!

BRENDAN
Calm down, I’m sure she’s fine.

MICHAEL
Calm down? Calm down? I can’t calm down.
We’re strangers in a strange land, she
doesn’t know her way around. Plus,
we’re Americans, it’s not like we’re
that well liked outside of the US.

JULIE
Mike, now you’re just being ridiculous.

Michael rushes out of the hotel room.

Brendan and Julie remain laying in the bed.

JULIE
I hope Amanda is OK.

BRENDAN
I’m sure she’s fine. She got too fucked
it, it happens. I’m sure it happens
hundreds of times a night in this city,
if not thousands of times. She’s
probably passed out at a bus stop along
the road, remember when we walked by
those bus stops tonight, how many people
did we see passed out there? Nine?
Ten people? I’m sure the cops will find
her and bring her back to the hotel.

JULIE
You’re probably right, but we should still
help Mike to find her.

BRENDAN

INT. – CANCUN BEACH RESORT

LOBBY

Michael is standing at the concierge desk in mid-


conversation with the CONCIERGE, an older, well put
together gentleman wearing a crisp suit.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
You Americans are all the same, aren’t
you?

MICHAEL
(confused)
What do you mean?

HOTEL CONCIERGE
You’re all spoiled. You come down here
to our beautiful city and destroy it.
You drink, you party excessively, you
vomit in our streets, you break stuff,
wreck our hotel rooms, fight with the
natives. And then you’re shocked when
one of you go missing due, undoubtedly,
to the overindulgence of drugs and
alcohol.

MICHAEL
Let me know when you’re done lecturing me.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
I see this happen all the time. I will
call the cops for you, they’ll come,
maybe ask a question or two, but they
really won’t be able to help. They have
bigger things to worry about, like an
ongoing drug war…a drug war, mind you,
that’s being funded by American kids
like you and your insatiable appetite
for drugs.

Michael is joined by Brendan and Julie at the desk.

HOTEL CONCIERGE (cont’d)


Besides, I hate to say it but when a
girl goes missing like this and her
boyfriend comes looking for her, she’s
usually hiding in a bathroom stall
giving some guy head or shacking up at
another guy’s hotel room, a guy that she
probably met on the dance floor of some
random club.

MICHAEL
I should fucking hit you.

Michael winds up to punch him but is held back by Brendan.

BRENDAN
Whoa, whoa, whoa don’t do that Mike.
I’m sure this prick is willing to help
us if we only ask nicely.

MICHAEL
Fine.
(regains his composure)
Sir, will you please call the cops for
me so I can find my missing girlfriend?

HOTEL CONCIERGE
Since you’re a guest of the resort, I
am forced to do that for you, so I
will.

The hotel concierge picks up the phone and calls the


police.

INT. – THE RUNDOWN DRUG HOUSE

Amanda is laying on a couch in the same rundown, nearly


empty, house where she bought drugs earlier in the day.

There is a small TV on in the corner of the room tuned to


Fox Sports Espanol and showing soccer.

Amanda is still passed out unconscious when Juan Carlos


enters the room and approaches the couch. He moves her
legs and sits down beneath them on one side of the couch.

Moving her legs wakes her up; she is still completely dazed
and is barely awake.

Paco enters the room and stands by the TV.

PACO
So what are we going to do with her?

JUAN CARLOS
Probably hold her for ransom. Look at
her, she seems like she comes from money.
She looks as though she has a family
that would care terribly if she went
missing and would do anything to get
their little baby back.

PACO
That’ll probably take a little while to
facilitate, what are we going to do with
her in the meantime?

JUAN CARLOS
Well I don’t want her having any chance
of escaping, she’s worth a lot of money
to us. So watch, here’s what we’re going
to do with her in the meantime.

Juan Carlos puts his arm behind Amanda’s neck and gently
lifts up her head.

JUAN CARLOS
Hey, hey, you OK?

Amanda doesn’t say anything as she’s still very dazed, she


tries to open her eyes but can barely even do that.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, grab that box on the TV.

Paco grabs the box, walks over to Juan Carlos and gives it
to him.

Juan Carlos opens the box and takes out a needle. He grabs
Amanda’s arm, taps it to find a vein then injects her with
heroin.

Amanda’s eyes roll back in her head and she lays back down
on the couch.

JUAN CARLOS
We’re going to keep her drugged up so
she can’t resist her captivity.

Juan Carlos gently rubs his fingers against Amanda’s face.

JUAN CARLOS
Sleep my dear, sleep.

Juan Carlos stands up and approaches Paco.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, I’m going to get some sleep, but
make sure there’s someone in here guarding
her at all times.

PACO
No problem.

INT. – CANCUN BEACH RESORT

LOBBY

Michael, Brendan and Julie are sitting in the lobby


impatiently waiting for the cops to arrive.

Michael is nervously biting his fingernails.

BRENDAN
So Mike, do you want to play a video
game while we wait? I saw that they
have an arcade somewhere around here.

JULIE
Brendan, don’t.

BRENDAN
What? I’m just trying to take his mind
off of things.

MICHAEL
Thanks Brendan, but I’m good.

Michael notices two cops enter the resort lobby and


immediately jumps up to greet them.

MICHAEL
Officers, hi I called you all, I’m
Michael.

CANCUN COP #1
Ahh yes.

The cop checks his notes in his little notepad.

CANCUN COP #1 (cont’d)


…And you’d like to report a missing
person.

MICHAEL
That’s right officer.

CANCUN COP #2
How long has she been missing for?

MICHAEL
I don’t know, I guess an hour, an hour
and a half now.

The cops roll their eyes.

CANCUN COP #1
Really? That’s it?

MICHAEL
Yeah, what difference does it make how
long she’s been missing for? The point
is she’s missing.

The cops look over to the hotel concierge, who’s standing


close by behind his desk, and shoot him a stern look.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
I’m sorry, I tried to talk him out of it,
but he was adamant.

Is there’s a problem officers?

Kid, we have a lot better things to do
then chase around Cancun looking for
your drunken girlfriend.

MICHAEL
(shocked)
I don’t believe this.

CANCUN COP #1
Did you see her get abducted?

MICHAEL
No.

CANCUN COP #2
When was the last time you saw her?

MICHAEL
I went to the bathroom at Senor Frogs
and left her behind on the dance floor
and when I came back about 10 minutes
later, she was gone.

CANCUN COP #2
And I’m assuming she was drinking?

MICHAEL
Well, yes.

Heavily?

MICHAEL
I guess.

Was she on any other substances?

MICHAEL
(takes a step back)

The cops look at each other and laugh.

MICHAEL
(annoyed)
Is there something funny?

CANCUN COP #1
Kid, you just need to relax.

MICHEAL
What do you mean?

CANCUN COP #2
Your girlfriend is probably passed
out on the beach. I’ve seen tons
of guys and girls going to the bars
around here, drinking too much,
thinking it’d be cool to take a dip
in the water; getting down to the
beach and passing out even before
they make it into the water.

CANCUN COP #1
It happens all the time.

MICHAEL
Maybe, but my Amanda wouldn’t do that,
she’s more responsible than that.

CANCUN COP #2
That’s what they all say, everyone thinks
that their friend or girlfriend wouldn’t
do this or that but then they come down
to Cancun and turn into someone different.

log of missing people cases to deal with.

If not a year.

CANCUN COP #1
If you want us to help you look for her,
you’ll need to pay us.

MICHAEL
That’s ridiculous!

That’s Mexico.

MICHAEL
That’s extortion!

Call it what you will, but that’s the
price you’ll have to pay.

MICHAEL
Fine, I’ll just call the police department
and get someone who isn’t corrupt.

Good luck with that, I can tell you in
all seriousness that this is standard

MICHAEL

time with another officer, you’ll just
get the same offer. I can bet you that.

BRENDAN
This collusion is unbelievable.

CANCUN COP #1
Payment would need to be in cash as well.

JULIE
This can’t be happening.

One of the cops reaches into his pocket and gives Michael a
card.

CANCUN COP #2
Here, if she doesn’t show up in 24 hours,
and you care to find her, call us.

CANCUN COP #1
Remember, cash…upfront.

MICHAEL
Upfront?

CANCUN COP #1
Yes, upfront; if we’re putting time into
this case we’ll need the cash first.

MICHAEL
Fine.

CANCUN COP #2

The cops turn around and walk out of the lobby.

Is everyone in this city against us?

JULIE
It seems like it.

BRENDAN
Maybe we should just call home.

MICHAEL
I don’t want to have to do that until
we know she’s missing. I don’t want
to alarm anyone, especially her parents.
They find this out and they’ll blame
me and hate me forever.

JULIE
Michael they won’t blame you, they’ll
just care about getting Amanda back.

Michael looks outside and sees that it’s almost sunrise.

MICHAEL
The sun’s coming up, I’m going down to
the beach to look for her.

JULIE
OK, we’ll go with you.

MICHAEL
No, Julie, you stay back just in case
she comes back to the hotel. Brendan,
come with me.
(pause)
Let me call her one more time though.

Michael takes his phone out and calls Amanda again.

INT. – THE RUNDOWN DRUG HOUSE

A different, shady-looking, young MEXICAN is sitting on the


floor across the room from Amanda, who’s still laying on
the couch.

He is staring intently at her as she lays there sleeping,


still dressed in her club clothes and looking sexy.

He is sweating and getting agitated as he watches her toss


and turn restlessly on the couch, her shirt is barely

covering her breasts as she moves around and her short


skirt rides up to reveal a little bit of her panties when
she moves. After watching this, he grabs his crotch over
his jeans.

Suddenly, the phone in her purse, which is sitting by the


couch, starts vibrating. After a few vibrating rings, the
young Mexican stands up and approaches the couch. He gets
down on his knees and searches through her purse to find
the phone.

Once he finds the phone, he takes it out and looks at it,


the name on the phone says: “Michael.” The vibrating stops
and he puts the phone back into the purse.

He’s now kneeling right next to the couch and is literally


inches away from Amanda. He looks at her for a few moments
then runs his dirty fingers through her beautiful blonde
hair.

Amanda’s eyes open slightly, she’s still so drugged up that


she’s in a daze and doesn’t know what’s going on.

From Amanda’s perspective, the room is spinning and she’s


completely disoriented, she can barely keep conscious.

The Mexican stands up over Amanda and looks down at her


silently for a few seconds. Then suddenly he pulls his
jeans down to his ankles and gets on top of her.

He pushes her skirt up, pulls her top down around her waist
and mounts her. He grabs her breasts and forcibly kisses
her, Amanda, unable to resist, just lays there in a daze.
Her eyes are open but she’s helpless to do anything.

He thrusts into her rhythmically, each one harder and more


violent than the last. She’s being moved around like a rag
doll.

The room is still spinning for her and, although she sees
this guy on top of her, she is so disoriented that she’s
helpless to do anything about it.

He breathes heavily on her face but she offers no reaction.


After several strokes, he lets out a slight scream as he
finishes, cautious not to alert anyone else in the house to
what he’s doing.

He sighs heavily after he finishes and kisses her on the


lips one last time then licks the side of her face.

He stands up, pulls his jeans up, fixes Amanda’s shirt and
skirt to cover her up, walks back over to his spot on the
other side of the room and sits back down to watch over
her.

He sits there quietly just watching Amanda, who is staring


at him as she continues to lie on the couch. After several
moments, Paco enters the room to check on things.

PACO
Is everything OK in here?

AMANDA’S RAPIST
Si.

PACO
I thought I heard a noise?

AMANDA’S RAPIST
No.

Paco looks at Amanda lying helplessly on the couch. She


moves her eyes off of her rapist and now looks at Paco.

PACO
OK.

Paco turns around and leaves the room.

EXT. – THE BEACH – SUNRISE

Michael and Brendan are walking along a nearly deserted


beach during sunrise.

MICHAEL
Where the hell is she?

BRENDAN
Don’t worry Mike, we’ll find her.

Michael does a 360 around the beach then yells out.

MICHAEL
(yells)

Mike, Mike. Calm down, it’ll be OK.

MICHAEL
Oh really, you think? I’m not so sure

she came back to the hotel.

MICHAEL
I’d hope she would’ve called us if she
came back.

BRENDAN
Let me just check with her.

Brendan takes his cell phone out and calls Julie.

JULIE (O.S.)
Hello.

BRENDAN
Hey it’s Brendan, you got anything?

JULIE (O.S.)
(deflated)
No, not yet.

BRENDAN
OK, let me know if you hear anything.

Brendan hangs up his cell phone.

BRENDAN
Sorry Mike, nothing yet.

Michael kicks the sand in frustration.

MICHAEL
Fuck!

BRENDAN
We’ll find her Mike, we’ll find her.

Michael sees a blonde woman sleeping on the beach in the


distance.

MICHAEL
Hey, is that her?

BRENDAN
Where?

MICHAEL
(points down the beach)
There, down there. That blonde girl,
it looks like she’s sleeping on the
beach.
(excitedly)
I think that’s her!

Michael starts sprinting down the beach. Brendan runs to


try to catch up with him.

BRENDAN
(yells)
Mike, don’t get too excited, it might
not be her!

Michael finally makes it to the blonde girl, who is laying


on her stomach. She has the same figure and hair style as
Amanda.

MICHAEL
Amanda!

Michael gets down on his knees and forcibly pushes the girl
over in order to see her face. Once he sees she’s not
Amanda, he falls back onto the beach, disappointed.

The girl, startled, immediately yells at him.

Hey, what are you doing asshole!

Brendan finally catches up to Michael and keels over to


catch his breath.

MICHAEL
(deflated)

Well, I hope you find her.

The girl goes back to laying on her stomach. Michael


punches the sand in frustration and begins to cry.

MICHAEL
(shakes his head)
Damn.

BRENDAN
Mike, let’s go. Let’s get out of here.
She’s not around here.

MICHAEL
I’m falling apart Brendan, I’m falling
apart.

Brendan puts his arm around Michael.

BRENDAN
We’ll find her Mike, we’ll find her.

Michael and Brendan start walking off the beach.

LIVING ROOM

Paco is sitting at a makeshift table in the room where


Amanda is laying on the couch. He is rifling through her
purse as she wakes up.

PACO
Ahhh, she’s awake again.

Paco finds her wallet and looks through it, he examines her
driver’s license.

PACO
Amanda Beckett of Chicago, Illinois.
Yes, I remember your little guy friend
saying that you were all from Chicago.
Well Amanda Beckett, what does your dad

(softly)
He’s…an…engineer.

PACO
Engineer? Good money in that field,
right?

AMANDA
(softly)
He…ummm, he makes a decent living.

PACO
How much do you think he’d pay to see
his little girl again?

Amanda looks around the room and finally realizes that she
doesn’t know where she’s at.

AMANDA
(confused)
Where am I?

PACO
Your new home.

Amanda looks at Paco but doesn’t recognize him.

AMANDA
(confused)

PACO
I’m your guardian.

Paco puts the cell phone in his pocket.

PACO (cont’d)

Paco takes a piece of gum out and the pack and puts it in
his mouth.

PACO (cont’d)
…and that’s pretty much all you have.
You’re a little low maintenance, I’m
surprised.

Juan Carlos, dressed in a white wife beater and jeans,


walks into the room with MIGUEL, a Mexican man in his late-
twenties.

JUAN CARLOS
We might have a change of plans. Come
on, stop playing around with her purse
and come into the kitchen.

PACO

Paco stands up and walks out of the room with Juan Carlos.

Miguel takes Paco’s place at the table; he rummages through


Amanda’s purse and takes out the pack of gum. He takes a
piece out and starts chewing it, leaving the pack on the
table.

KITCHEN

Juan Carlos walks over to the stove and continues making a


breakfast of eggs and bacon.

PACO
So what’s up?

The girl, we might have a new plan for
her.

PACO
We’re not going to hold her for ransom?

JUAN CARLOS
Maybe not.

PACO
We’re not going to let her go, are we?

JUAN CARLOS
No, but I am working on a new revenue
stream for her.

Juan Carlos takes a piece of sizzling bacon out of the pan


and passes it over to Paco.

JUAN CARLOS (cont’d)


Here, try a piece of bacon, it’s maple
flavored.

Paco eats the piece of bacon.

PACO
So what’s the new revenue source?

JUAN CARLOS
I had a meeting with the Yucatan Cartel
earlier this morning about the usual
business and they mentioned how they’re
launching a new business venture.

PACO
What’s that?

JUAN CARLOS
(eyes light up)
Human trafficking.

PACO
Human trafficking?

JUAN CARLOS
Yeah, think of it like white slavery.
I made a deal with them, we split the
profits.

PACO
How will this work?

JUAN CARLOS
We kidnap girls from here in Cancun,
teenagers, girls in their early
twenties, then we transport them a
few hours west to the Port of Yucatan.
There, the cartel will take possession
of them and ship the girls over to
Thailand or another Southeast Asia
country where they will be sold into
prostitution or whatever else they’re
needed for. Quite frankly, I don’t
care what they do with these bitches
once they take possession of them.

PACO
Sounds like an intense plan, but once
these girls land in Asia, how are they
going to be forced into prostitution
day in, day out?

JUAN CARLOS
Look, I don’t know the details, and I
don’t need to know the details, but I’m
assuming the constant presence of mind-
altering drugs in their system will keep
them in line.

PACO
So when are we moving her?

JUAN CARLOS
She’s going to be our test run, to make
sure the route and transport runs
smoothly…we’re going to move her this
afternoon.

Paco peeks out of the kitchen and looks at sweet, innocent


Amanda helplessly laying on the couch.

PACO
It’s almost sad to see a girl like that
being sold into slavery.

Juan Carlos walks over to Paco and looks at Amanda as well.

Paco, when you look at her, I don’t want
you to see a hot American blonde piece
of ass, I want you to see pesos…a lot

INT. – HOTEL ROOM

Michael, Brendan and Julie are sitting on a bed in the


hotel room.

JULIE
OK, let’s take a step back and think
about this for a moment.

MICHAEL
What’s there to think about? She’s gone
missing!

JULIE
Yes, but we have to think about whether
this was totally random or if this was
planned.

MICHAEL
(surprised)
What, you think she planned all this?
You think her master plan was to start
a new life in Mexico?

JULIE
No, I’m not saying that at all. But
what if, what if, her disappearance
wasn’t random at all? What if somebody
was watching her and saw the perfect
opportunity to kidnap her when they
saw us leave the club and saw you go
to the bathroom?

MICHAEL
Like who?

JULIE
(thinking)
I don’t know.

BRENDAN
Well let’s think about this for a
moment, Julie may be on to something.

The three of them sit there silently for a few moments as


they think. Finally, Michael looks like he has a
revelation.

MICHAEL
Friggin’ Brendan.

BRENDAN
(confused)
What did I do?

MICHAEL
Yesterday, you told those drug dealers
where we were going at night, Senor
Frog’s. Damn it! They probably cased
the joint looking for us.

BRENDAN
Oh come on, that’s ridiculous! Those
guys were just a bunch of two-bit punk
drug dealers.

MICHAEL
Were they?

Michael stands up and kicks the trash can.

MICHAEL (cont’d)
I knew you shouldn’t have said anything
to them!

BRENDAN
I was just making small talk to ease
the tension and pass the time. Those
guys were scary, I thought I’d try to
connect with them on an emotional level.

MICHAEL
By telling them where we, and our hot
girlfriends, were going to hang out and
get stupidly drunk at night?

BRENDAN
This is too much to handle, I need a hit
of coke.

Brendan stands up and walks over to the table to grab a


vial of coke. Once he grabs it, Michael knocks it out of
his hand.

Stop, that’s what got us into this
trouble in the first place.

BRENDAN
You don’t know that for sure.

MICHAEL
Well regardless, we need all our wits
about us so no more of that shit until
we find Amanda.

JULIE
So what do you want to do?

MICHAEL
I want to check out this drug dealer
angle.

JULIE
OK, and how are we going to do that?

MICHAEL
We’re going to go back to that rundown
house that we went to yesterday.

JULIE
You’re crazy. You’re absolutely crazy!

MICHAEL
It’s the only thing I can think of. How
else are we going to find them?

BRENDAN
So you’re just going to walk right up
to the house, knock on the door and ask
them if they stole your girlfriend?

MICHAEL
Yes.

BRENDAN
Really?

MICHAEL

MICHAEL

(shocked)
Are you kidding me?

MICHAEL
It’s the only way.

JULIE
Mike, if you really think these guys are
responsible, why don’t we call the police?

MICHAEL
(laughs)
The police? You saw how they treated us
last night. They’re not going to help
us. No way, no, we have to do this.

JULIE
OK, fine, I’m on board.

MICHAEL
No you’re not. Your job is to continue
waiting around here in case Amanda comes
back.

JULIE
I can help though.

MICHAEL
I know you can, but it could get dangerous.

BRENDAN
I mean we’re talking about getting guns
here. I won’t let you get in harm’s way

It shouldn’t be that hard, it’s Mexico.
It took us only a few minutes to find
drugs yesterday, how hard could it be
to find guns?

BRENDAN
You make it sound like you think guns
are being sold on every street corner.
Maybe we should just ask the concierge?

MICHAEL
Good idea.

INT. – CANCUN BEACH RESORT LOBBY

Michael and Brendan are standing in front of the concierge


desk talking to the concierge.

MICHAEL
Look, you don’t like me and I sure as
hell don’t like you. You think I’m
spoiled prick and I think you’re a
pretentious asshole. But the fact
remains that my girlfriend is still
missing and no one in this godforsaken
town wants to help me out. So I’m going
to take matters into my own hands, which
means that I need to find a gun. That’s
right, since no one is willing to help
me, I am actually contemplating going
out and buying a gun. Ridiculous I
know, but I don’t think I have any
other option.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
So what do you want from me?

MICHAEL
Where the hell can I buy a gun?

HOTEL CONCIERGE
Why should I help you? You and your
friends have been nothing but a pain
in the ass ever since you checked in
yesterday.

Michael sees a picture of the concierge, his wife and his


young daughter sitting on the desk.

MICHAEL
Because this girl is someone’s daughter.
(pause)
Don’t you have a daughter, or a niece
that you care about?
(pause)
My girlfriend is out there somewhere,
she could be in trouble, she could be
hurt, but regardless I know she’s alone,
even if there are people around her,
and she’s in this country for the first
time. I’m sure she’s scared.
(pause)
Forget about me, just think about how
this girl’s dad will feel if his precious
little daughter doesn’t come back home
to him.

The concierge stands there thinking for a moment until he


takes out a notepad and writes an address on it.

HOTEL CONCIERGE
Look, I don’t know any actual gun
dealers, but I do know where you can go
to buy a gun.
(hands the piece of paper
to Mike)
Go to the Snakes Den Marketplace, it’s
a short cab ride away. It’s this big
open-aired market in a rough part of
town where vendors come and set up shop
to sell their wares. You can find
anything there, even guns, you just
have to ask the right person.

MICHAEL

EXT. – ROAD ALONGSIDE THE BEACH IN CANCUN – DAY

A taxi cab drives along a road that parallels the Cancun


beach.

INT. – TAXI CAB

Michael and Brendan are riding in the backseat of a cab


being driving by an older AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAN. The radio
is playing Bob Marley music.

MICHAEL
Excuse me, sir. As you know we’re
going to the Snakes Den marketplace.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


(laughs)
Ohhh I know, you guys are showing some
balls going to that part of town. Some
shady shit goes on there, more so than
other parts of Cancun, if you can believe
that. Tell me something, what’s two
clean-cut American kids like yourselves
doing going to the Marketplace?

MICHAEL
We’re looking to buy guns.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


(laughs)
Whoa, whoa, whoa, no shit? Who are you
guys trying to be? Rambo?

MICHAEL
We’re just trying to right a wrong.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


You crazy Americans, you think that guns
can solve all your problems.

BRENDAN
This coming from a guy who lives in a
country where thousands of your citizens
are killed each year to drug violence?

Only because Americans make the guns and
buy the drugs is why we have all this
violence.

BRENDAN
Of course, blame someone else for your

MICHAEL

guns at the marketplace? Who we can
talk to?

TAXI CAB DRIVER


For an extra $20 I’ll tell you where to
go in the marketplace. For an extra $50
I’ll take you there directly. And for
an extra $100 I’ll make sure you don’t
get shot.

MICHAEL
I’ll give you the $100 if you take us
to the exact place we need to go. No
games.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


No problem.

EXT. – SNAKES DEN MARKETPLACE – DAY

Michael, Brendan and the taxi cab driver are walking


through a packed open-aired marketplace filled with people
walking about and vendors selling their trinkets behind
little booths.

The walkway that snakes around the marketplace is tight and


crowded with people.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


Even though I said I’ll make sure you
don’t get shot, watch your back, my eyes
can’t be everywhere at all times.

BRENDAN
Do you know where you’re going?

(looks at Michael)
Your friend asks a lot of questions.

MICHAEL
I know, don’t mind him, he’s an idiot
sometimes and he doesn’t know when to

Look boys, I told you I was going to
take you to where you needed to go and
I’m a man of my word.

MICHAEL
That’s hard to believe a guy like that
exists in Mexico.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


Believe me, I am.

The three of them approach a vendor behind a small, rundown


booth.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


And here he is.
(pause)
My man, how’s it going Jamaal?

JAMAAL, a skinny African-American in his early thirties,


shakes the driver’s hand.

JAMAAL
It’s good, it’s good. What can I do you
for?

TAXI CAB DRIVER


My friends over here would like to buy
a couple of your special products.

JAMAAL
These are your friends?

TAXI CAB DRIVER


Yes. Well they bought my friendship,
but they’re friends nonetheless.

TAXI CAB DRIVER


So what do you say, can they buy a
couple of your specials?

Jamaal looks Michael and Brendan up and down, sizing them


up, before he speaks.

JAMAAL
OK, follow me. Even I don’t do this
kind of business out in the open.

Jamaal walks through a curtain behind the booth, followed


by Michael, Brendan and the taxi cab driver.

INT. – ROOM BEHIND BOOTH IN MARKETPLACE

Michael is inspecting a handgun that Jamaal has just given


him.

JAMAAL
You see, if the cops saw me selling guns
out in the open, they’ll shake me down
for a percentage, cutting into my profit
margins. I’m just a poor vendor trying
to make ends meet, so I can’t have that
happen.

BRENDAN
The friggin’ man, trying to get his piece
of everything; especially from the
working man. It’s just not right.

Jamaal, the taxi driver and Michael all look at him like
he’s crazy.

Michael aims the gun and pretends to fire.

JAMAAL
How do you like it?

MICHAEL
It shoots right?

JAMAAL
It does, but bullets are extra.

JAMAAL
Excellent. I’m sure you’ll be quite

MICHAEL
You ask a lot of questions don’t you?

JAMAAL
(laughs)
Hey, it’s all good man. I don’t care,
I just want to get paid.

INT. – THE RUNDOWN DRUG HOUSE

LIVING ROOM

Juan Carlos is standing in the living room looking at his


watch.

JUAN CARLOS
It’s time, let’s move out.
(looks at one of his Mexican
associates)
Drive the van up to the house.

The young Mexican races out of the house to get the van.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, grab the girl.

Paco picks up Amanda, who is still laying dazed and


confused on the couch, and puts her over his shoulder.

Juan Carlos points to a couple other young Mexican


associates standing in the room.

JUAN CARLOS
You guys come with us, we’ll need some
muscle; you never know what might happen
when the money changes hands.
(yells)
Miguel, get over here.

Miguel walks into the room from the kitchen.

JUAN CARLOS
Miguel, we’re going to be gone for a
couple days taking care of this. Watch
over things while we’re away, handle
our business, take care of all the
stupid Americans that come by looking
for a fix.

MIGUEL
No problem boss.

Juan Carlos looks out the window and sees the van pull up
to the house.

JUAN CARLOS
OK, let’s go.

Juan Carlos, a few of his associates and Paco, who’s


carrying Amanda, walk out of the house and enter the back
of the van.

INT. – WHITE VAN

After everyone else enters the van, Paco lays Amanda down
in the back of the van, gets in and closes the back door.

He quickly ties Amanda’s arms behind her back with a rope


and then ties her ankles together with another piece of
rope.

Juan Carlos jumps into the passenger seat.

JUAN CARLOS
Let’s go.

EXT. – DIRT ROAD OUTSIDE THE DRUG HOUSE - DAY

The van drives off the lawn and up the street. It makes a
turn at the intersection and enters traffic.

The van passes Michael and Brendan who are walking along
the street heading to the dirt road that leads to the drug
house.

BRENDAN
Any idea what we’re going to do when we
get to the house?

MICHAEL
I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.

BRENDAN
Well maybe you should since we’re only
about five minutes away from it.

MICHAEL
OK, fine. We’re going to knock on the
door and politely ask whoever answers it
where Amanda is. If they don’t tell us
and I get the feeling that they’re lying
then I’m going to draw my gun and force
them to tell us.

BRENDAN
OK. What if there are six guys there?

MICHAEL
Then we’ll take them by surprise.

BRENDAN
Ohhhkay.

MICHAEL
Look, these guys probably cater to a
bunch of goofy, American kids just
looking to get high and not knowing
any better.

BRENDAN
Like us.

MICHAEL
Yeah, like us. They’re never expecting
a bunch of gun-toting guys that look like
us showing up and getting in their grill.

BRENDAN
They’re drug dealers, don’t you think

BRENDAN

Have you ever shot a gun before?

MICHAEL
Only at Dave & Buster’s, they have all
those cool shooting games so I’ve put
some time in on that. You?

BRENDAN
No, but my older brother had the gun
that went with the original Nintendo,
so I used to target shoot on Duck Hunt
and Hogan’s Alley, I was pretty good
too.

MICHAEL
I was more of a Gumshoe guy myself.

BRENDAN
Ohh, I liked that too.

OK, so it sounds like we’re fully
qualified to be carrying a loaded
firearm.

Brendan takes out his gun from his waistband and waves it
in the air.

BRENDAN

Michael is quick to put his hand on Brendan’s gun and push


it back down to his waistband in an effort to hide it.

MICHAEL
Jesus Brendan, are you crazy!?!

BRENDAN
What?

Brendan puts his gun back into his waistband.

MICHAEL
Do you want us to get shot right here?
Look around, this isn’t the type of
neighborhood where we should be whipping
out a pistol, because these people will
shoot first and not even bother to ask
questions later.

BRENDAN
OK, OK, OK.

MICHAEL
Just be cool. Can you try being that
for a few minutes, please?

BRENDAN
Man I’m always cool.

MICHAEL
No you’re not.

Michael and Brendan walk up to the drug house.

Michael looks back at Brendan, takes a deep breath, then


knocks on the door.

There are several seconds of silence until Miguel finally


opens the door. He only opens it a few inches and peeks
through the opening; the chain lock is still attached to
the door.

MIGUEL
What’s up?

MICHAEL
We’re here to ummm, buy some drugs.

MIGUEL
Who sent you?

MICHAEL
Juan Carlos.

Miguel shuts the door for a couple seconds, unlocks it,


then opens it up.

MIGUEL
Come in.

Michael and Brendan walk into the house.

Michael and Brendan stand in the dark living room with


Miguel.

MIGUEL
So, what do you want?

MICHAEL

BRENDAN
Yeah, we just want to get high, high.

MIGUEL
Weed, huh? OK, I can do that for you.

MICHAEL
(goofily)
Awesome, that’s great, because me and
my friend really want to get stoned.

BRENDAN
Yeah and hopefully it’ll help us hook up
with chicks. It is Cancun after all.

MIGUEL
You’ll have to excuse me for a moment.
Most of my associates are busy taking
care of other business so I’ll have to
get the baggie myself.

MICHAEL
No problem, take your time.

Brendan and Michael start whispering to each other once


Miguel walks out of the room.

BRENDAN
I’m nervous.

MICHAEL
Me too.

BRENDAN

BRENDAN
OK because I think this gun is giving me

MICHAEL
Just shut up Brendan.

Miguel comes back holding a baggie.

MIGUEL
I got your stuff. You got the money?

MICHAEL
Ahhh yes, the money, sorry this is the
first time I’ve ever bought drugs, but
I figured screw it we’re down here in
Cancun having fun in the sun, we might
as well make it a total party.

BRENDAN
(awkwardly)
Party!

MIGUEL
OK, well this is the part where you give
me the cash and I give you the drugs.

MICHAEL
Before I give you the cash, can I ask
you a question?

MIGUEL
What.

MICHAEL
My girlfriend, Amanda, a very cute,
young blonde went missing yesterday.

Kid, cute blonde girls grow on trees
around here, they’re everywhere.

MICHAEL
That might be true, but did you see a
blonde girl get in some trouble last
night, maybe someone that was taken
advantage of by a guy or a group of
guys, maybe someone who was possibly
abducted?

MIGUEL
(shakes his head)
No, didn’t see anything like that.

Michael stares at him intently for a moment then answers


him.

MICHAEL
OK.

Michael sits down at a table in the room to count his


money.

MIGUEL
I hope you find your girl though.
Unfortunately there’s some senseless
violence going on in this city, I only
pray she hasn’t fallen victim to that.

MICHAEL
Me too.

As Michael counts his money, he notices a half empty pack


of Trident gum sitting on the table.

He stares at it until he realizes that it’s Amanda’s gum.

Without uttering a word, Michael takes his gun out and


shoots Miguel in the leg.

Miguel screams out in pain and falls to the ground, he’s


grabbing his shot leg and rolling around the floor in
agony.

Brendan instinctively jumps back in shock.

BRENDAN
(surprised)
What the hell did you do that for? He
didn’t tell us anything yet.

MICHAEL
Don’t worry, I didn’t try to kill him.

Michael stands up, grabs the pack of chewing gum and shows
it to Brendan.

MICHAEL
Look, this is Amanda’s pack of gum!

BRENDAN
Are you sure?

MICHAEL
Definitely, she gave us all a piece from
it yesterday.

Michael runs over to Miguel, kneels over him and grabs his
shirt.

MICHAEL
(yells)
Where is she? Where’s Amanda!

MIGUEL
I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Michael shoves his gun right in Miguel’s face.

Brendan takes out his gun, stands right by Michael and does
a 360 around the room to make sure no one sneaks up behind
them.

MICHAEL
Tell me where she is dickhead! Donde
esta bitch?!?!

MIGUEL
OK, OK, I’ll tell you, just don’t kill
me.

Michael helps Miguel lean up against the wall.

MIGUEL
They just left with her.

MICHAEL
Who?

MIGUEL
My associates.

MICHAEL
Where are they taking her?

MIGUEL
They’re driving her to some drop off
point. I don’t know where.

MICHAEL
Why?

MIGUEL
I don’t know.

Michael pushes the gun into Miguel’s right cheek.

MICHAEL
(yells)
Why?!?!?!

MIGUEL
OK, OK, OK, they’re selling her to some-
one that is transporting her to Thailand.

MICHAEL
Why Thailand?

MIGUEL
I don’t know, I think she’s being sold
into prostitution or something like
that. I don’t know for sure, none of
us know for sure, we just care about
getting paid. We don’t care about her.

Michael punches Miguel in the face.

MICHAEL
Well I do.

BRENDAN
How are we going to find her?

MICHAEL
This guy is going to drive us to them.

MIGUEL
I’m shot!

MICHAEL
In only one leg though, you have another
one to drive with.

MIGUEL

seconds later with a towel.

Michael takes the towel and makes a tunicate with it around


Miguel’s leg.

MICHAEL
You’re lucky I’m pre-med and know how

to help us, right?

MIGUEL
I don’t know if I can find them though.
I don’t know where they went.

MICHAEL
Don’t worry, I have faith you can figure
it out.
(pause)
You have a cell phone?

MIGUEL
Si.

MICHAEL
It’s on you?

MIGUEL
Si.

Michael reaches into Miguel’s pocket and takes his cell


phone.

MICHAEL
You got wheels?

MIGUEL
Si, it’s in the driveway.

MICHAEL
Good, let’s go then. Get up!

MIGUEL
I can’t.

MICHAEL
Brendan, help me.

Michael and Brendan help Miguel stand up and they walk over
to the front door.

EXT. – THE RUNDOWN DRUG HOUSE – DAY

Brendan walks out of the house first and stands on the lawn
to watch the street as Michael helps Miguel out of the
house and over to his car.

Michael jumps into the passenger seat while Brendan helps


Miguel into the driver’s seat. Then Brendan gets into the
backseat.

INT. – MIGUEL’S CAR

Michael sticks his gun into Miguel’s side.

MICHAEL
Drive.

Once they get on the road and start driving, Michael shoves
Miguel’s cell phone in his face.

MICHAEL
Call your boss or whoever it was that
took my girl. Find out where they’re
going.
(pause)
No funny business.

Miguel dials a number on his cell phone and calls Juan


Carlos.

MIGUEL
Juan Carlos, this is Miguel, we had a
little bit of an issue at the house just
now.

JUAN CARLOS (O.S.)


What happened?

MIGUEL
Law enforcement was snooping around.

JUAN CARLOS (O.S.)


Local cops? What are they doing

something specific.

JUAN CARLOS (O.S.)

MIGUEL
They said they were going to come back
for another inspection.

They didn’t say.

OK, I’ll deal with it.

(pause)

Miguel hangs up the phone and looks at Miguel.

MIGUEL
Port of Yucatan.

Michael shoves his gun in Miguel’s side.

MICHAEL
Take us to the Port of Yucatan then.

INT. – WHITE VAN DRIVING ALONG A DESERTED HIGHWAY IN MEXICO

The Mexicans are driving quietly along a deserted highway


road, there’s very little traffic and there’s barely any
buildings around. They are essentially out in the middle
of nowhere.

Juan Carlos hangs up his phone having just talked to


Miguel.

Suddenly, Amanda sits up from the back of the van and is


finally coming out of her blackout.

AMANDA
(confused)
Where am I?

JUAN CARLOS
Mexico.

AMANDA
Where in Mexico?

JUAN CARLOS
Out in the country.

AMANDA
I’m supposed to be in Cancun.

JUAN CARLOS
Your plans changed.

Amanda looks down and realizes she’s tied up with rope.

AMANDA
Why am I tied up? Who are you guys?
Why am I in this van?

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, the American’s asking too many
questions, take care of that.

As Paco climbs over the backseat to get to Amanda, she


starts yelling, kicking and screaming.

She kicks Paco in the face, temporarily stunning him, then


she turns around and starts kicking the back door to get
out.

Paco rubs off the blood coming from his nose.

PACO
You fucking bitch!

Paco grabs her hair and drags her away from the back door,
she turns around again and continues kicking away.

Paco then grabs her legs to subdue her.

PACO
I should kick your ass!

Amanda continues yelling and screaming, so Paco covers her


mouth with his hand to shut her up. Amanda bites down on
it so hard that she draws blood.

Paco screams and holds his hand while Amanda continues to


kick at him. Paco backhands her across the face then looks
back at his associates just sitting there.

PACO
I could use some help here.

One of the other Mexicans jumps over the seat to help Paco.

JUAN CARLOS
I can’t believe Paco needs help fighting
one little American bitch. Embarrassing.

PACO
She’s tougher than you think.
(to his associate)
Here, grab her legs.

Paco’s associate grabs Amanda’s legs as Paco puts his arm


around her neck to subdue her. She’s still yelling and
screaming.

Paco takes a needle out of his pocket, grabs her arm and
injects her with heroin.

Her eyes roll to the back of her head and she falls back
passed out and hits the floor with her head.

Paco is breathing heavily, trying to catch his breath.

JUAN CARLOS
Are you done playing around with her?

PACO
Feisty bitch.

JUAN CARLOS
Get back up here.

Paco climbs back over the seat and sits down along with the
other Mexican who helped him.

Amanda is left laying in the back passed out while they


continue driving along the deserted highway.

JUAN CARLOS
(looks at the driver)
How much time until we’re there?

WHITE VAN DRIVER


Probably an hour, an hour and ten
minutes at the most.

Juan Carlos looks at his very expensive watch.

JUAN CARLOS
Very good. That’ll get us there right
on time.

Juan Carlos rolls his window down all the way and sticks
his head out to enjoy the wind blowing through his hair.

INT. – MIGUEL’S CAR DRIVING ALONG A DESERTED HIGHWAY

Michael still has his gun pointed at Miguel’s side while


Brendan has his gun pointed to the back of Miguel’s neck.

MICHAEL
You’re not dicking us around, are you?
If you drive us to the wrong place or
you try to stall us, we won’t shoot
you, we’ll torture you. We’ll pull
over to the side of the road, drag you
out to the middle of nowhere, torture
you and leave you for dead.

Brendan taps Miguel in the head with his gun.

BRENDAN
Yeah, Dick Cheney is a distant relative
of mine, you do know who Dick Cheney is,
right? Your worst fucking nightmare to
a guy like you. You don’t want to fuck
with us or we’ll waterboard your ass.

MIGUEL
I’m taking you to the place, I swear, I
swear.

MICHAEL
OK, I’m watching you…

Michael moves the gun down to Miguel’s crotch.

MICHAEL (cont’d)
…but one bad move and I’ll blow your
balls clean off.

MIGUEL
What do you think you’ll be able to do
if you find them though?

MICHAEL
(he corrects him)
When we find them.

MIGUEL
Surely you know you’ll be vastly out-
numbered. What are you going to do?

I usually don’t think that far ahead.

MIGUEL
Your going to be outgunned too. They’re
going to look at your little, baby
handguns and laugh. They’ll all have
automatic weapons on them. You won’t

MICHAEL
Let me and my friend worry about that.

BRENDAN
(nervously)
Yeah, ummm, we should start worrying
about that, shouldn’t we Mike?

MICHAEL
I got it all under control Brendan.
(pause)
Where is this place anyways?

MIGUEL
The Port of Yucatan, it’s about an hour
fifteen minutes, an hour and a half away.
It’s where we usually do our import /
exports from. This is the first time
we’ve ever done this though.

MICHAEL
Done what?

MIGUEL
Exported a human.

MICHAEL
For your sake you better hope we don’t
get there too late.

MIGUEL
And for your sake too.

MICHAEL
Can’t this damn car go any faster?

MIGUEL
I’m driving as fast as I can, any faster
and the car will break apart.

A few tears fall down Michael’s cheeks as he looks out the


window and stares at the barren landscape alongside the
highway.

INT. – WHITE VAN DRIVING ALONG A DESERTED HIGHWAY

The Mexicans continue driving along a deserted highway


while Amanda is still passed out in the back of the van.

VAN DRIVER
Juan Carlos, we’re getting a little low
on gas.

JUAN CARLOS
OK, I saw a sign a couple miles back for
a gas station up ahead. We’ll re-fuel
there and stretch our legs.

They continue driving along the highway and it’s only a few
seconds until they see the gas station on the horizon.

JUAN CARLOS
There it is, up ahead. You see it?

VAN DRIVER
Yeah, I see it.

They come up on the gas station, which is in the middle of


nowhere with no other buildings around it, and pull off the
road.

The van pulls up to a gas pump in front of the old school-


looking gas station and kicks up a big cloud of dirt when
it stops.

JUAN CARLOS
(looks at the driver)
Fill up the car.
(pause)
Paco, let’s grab a smoke outside.

Juan Carlos turns around and looks at the Mexican who raped
Amanda sitting behind him.

JUAN CARLOS (cont’d)

Everyone in the van, except for Amanda’s rapist sitting in


the backseat, gets out.

EXT. – GAS STATION ALONG DESERTED HIGHWAY – DAY

Juan Carlos lights up a cigarette and helps Paco light his.


They both take a long drag and exhale slowly.

Juan Carlos leans into the van through the rolled down
window and looks at Amanda who is still passed out in the
back.

JUAN CARLOS
Resting like a baby. So beautiful.

Paco leans into the van and looks at her as well.

PACO
So pure too.

JUAN CARLOS
Not anymore.

Paco starts walking towards the gas station, followed by


Juan Carlos.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, make sure you pick up some water
for the girl. I want to make sure she’s
hydrated. I don’t want her looking like
shit for the cartel, we need top dollar
for her.

INT. – GAS STATION STORE

Juan Carlos and Paco browse through an aisle of the small,


rundown, nearly empty gas station store.

You can feel the heat and humidity inside as there is only
one ceiling fan working and it’s rotating very slowly.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, grab some of those cheese doodles
over there.

INT. – WHITE VAN

Amanda finally regains her consciousness while laying in


the back of the van. She just lays there momentarily as
she thinks about her options.

She feverishly begins trying to free her hands from the


ropes while also keeping an eye on the Mexican sitting in
front of her, who’s busy reading a magazine.

With his head down reading his magazine, Amanda’s rapist


speaks to Amanda whom he assumes is still passed out.

AMANDA’S RAPIST
Damn girl, I wish you were awake so I
could tell you how fine you tasted. A
good piece of American ass like yourself
was exactly what I needed this morning.

Amanda finally frees her hands from the rope by being able
to loosen the knot and slips out of it. Then she quietly
unties the rope around her ankles.

She looks at the Mexican sitting in front of her then


decides in one motion to suddenly kick open the back door
and jump out of the van.

The Mexican hears the noise, turns and notices Amanda


running out of the van.

AMANDA’S RAPIST
Damn!

He jumps out of the van to chase her.

EXT. – GAS STATION – DAY

A couple of the Mexicans are loitering around outside the


front of the gas station when they see Amanda escape from
the van and running down the road.

Paco looks up while walking down an aisle and sees Amanda


running down the road.

PACO
Juan Carlos! Juan Carlos! The girl!
She’s running away!

Juan Carlos and Paco drop whatever’s in their hands and


rush out of the store.

EXT. – GAS STATION - DAY

The two run up to the Mexicans standing in front of the gas


station. Juan Carlos hits Paco on the arm.

JUAN CARLOS
You guys chase her down.
(hits the van driver on the
arm)
Let’s take the van.

EXT. – ALONGSIDE DESERTED HIGHWAY – DAY

Amanda is running as hard and as fast as she can down the


side of the road, crying as she runs. She is being chased
by three of the Mexicans but she had a good head start on
them.

She runs out in the middle of the road to flag down an


approaching car, waving her arms in the air to get their
attention.

The car honks it’s horn, swerves to avoid hitting her and
continues speeding down the highway.

Amanda throws up her arms in frustration and anger.

AMANDA
What the fuck asshole!?!

Amanda, sensing that she’s lost hope again and will be


caught, starts crying uncontrollably.

Seeing the three Mexicans fast approaching, Amanda turns to


continue running down the side of the road.

The van peels out on the dirt in front of the gas station
and speeds down the highway towards Amanda.

It screeches to a halt right in front of her to cut her off


along the side of the road.

Juan Carlos jumps out of the van, runs in front of Amanda


and sticks his gun right at her forehead.

JUAN CARLOS
If you weren’t so valuable to me, I’d
kill you right now.

AMANDA
Go ahead, I’m already dead.

Juan Carlos simulates shooting her with his gun.

JUAN CARLOS
Boom!

The other three Mexicans catch up to the van. Juan Carlos


puts his gun down and grabs Amanda forcibly by the arm, he
leads her to Paco who is standing outside the back of the
van.

JUAN CARLOS
Will you watch her this time around?

They open the back door; Juan Carlos picks up the rope from
the floor and pushes it into Paco’s chest.

JUAN CARLOS (cont’d)


Oh and learn how to tie a rope.

PACO
Yes JC.

Paco takes Amanda and forces her into the backseat of the
van.

INT. – WHITE VAN

Everyone gets back into the van. Paco pushes Amanda


between himself and another associate.

EXT. – ALONGSIDE DESERTED HIGHWAY - DAY

Juan Carlos pauses a second to light a cigarette outside of


the van and takes a few relaxing drags from it before
leisurely getting back in.

INT. – WHITE VAN

Once Juan Carlos gets into the van, they drive off and
continue down the highway.

JUAN CARLOS
Paco, give her more heroin and throw
her on the floor in the back again.
(pause)
We need to calm her down.

Paco reaches down on the floor and grabs a bag of heroin.

Amanda, who is already being restrained by the Mexican


sitting on the other side of her, starts yelling and
screaming at the prospect of having to do more drugs.

PACO
Shut her up.

The associate manages to cover Amanda’s mouth while


continuing to restrain her.

Amanda’s eyes grow wide and fearful when she sees Paco
preparing the needle.

INT. – HOTEL ROOM

Julie is pacing back and forth around the hotel room to


pass the time since she has nothing else to do. After a
few times, she grabs her cell phone and calls Brendan.

JULIE
Hey, it’s me. Anything yet?

BRENDAN (O.S.)
No, you?

JULIE
No, nothing. I’m going stir crazy here.
Just pacing back and forth waiting. I’m
a nervous wreck.

I know baby, hang in there. I have a
feeling we might find her soon,
hopefully.

JULIE
OK, bye, love you baby.

BRENDAN (O.S.)

Julie hangs up her phone and continues pacing back and


forth around the hotel room.

INT. – MIGUEL’S CAR DRIVING ALONG A DESERTED HIGHWAY

Brendan hangs up his cell phone.

MICHAEL
Was that Julie?

BRENDAN
Yeah.

MICHAEL
Anything?

BRENDAN
Nope. And she’s getting anxious, very
anxious.

MICHAEL
Aren’t we all.

MIGUEL
We’re getting close.

MICHAEL
Almost game time.

MIGUEL
(grabs his shot leg)
You are going to take me to the hospital
after this, right?

MICHAEL
Let’s handle things one at a time, I just
want to get my girlfriend back right now.

Come on man! I’m shot! I don’t want

In anger, Michael sticks his gun at Miguel’s temple.

MICHAEL
(yells)

BRENDAN
Just drive man, drive.

MIGUEL
OK, don’t shoot!

MICHAEL
OK, like my boy just said, drive. We’ll
get you help after we find my girlfriend.

MIGUEL
I’m trying.

Everyone in the car becomes silent, Michael takes out a


piece of gum from Amanda’s pack and starts chewing it as he
looks out the window and views the barrenness of the
surrounding area.

INT. – WHITE VAN DRIVING ALONG A DESERTED HIGHWAY IN MEXICO

They continue quietly driving along the deserted highway.

Paco looks behind him at Amanda, who’s still laying on the


floor in the back.

Amanda starts coming out of her blackout and rolls around


the floor.

PACO
Looks like the girl is coming to again.

JUAN CARLOS
She must be getting used to the heroin.

PACO
Shall I give her another hit?

No, we’re almost at the drop point, I
want her to witness all of this.

PACO
Are you sure?

JUAN CARLOS
Yeah, it’ll be fine.

Paco and his associate turn around and lift Amanda up and
over the seat. They sit her between the two of them, she’s
still pretty disoriented but she’s alert.

JUAN CARLOS
Welcome back.

AMANDA
(dazed)
Where are you taking me?

JUAN CARLOS
You’ll see. It’s a surprise.

AMANDA
(cries)
I just want to go home.
(pause)
I just want to go home, I just want to
go home.
(pause)
I miss my mommy and daddy. I miss my
little brother.

She starts crying uncontrollably. Juan Carlos mocks her by


looking at Amanda and fake crying.

JUAN CARLOS
Don’t worry, we’re sending you to a place
where you’re going to be very loved.

PACO
Yeah, you’ll probably be loved 20-30
times a day sometimes.

JUAN CARLOS
(laughs)

AMANDA

JUAN CARLOS
I don’t doubt that, but our trafficker
will pay us more, trust me.

Amanda looks helplessly out the window at the ominous


surroundings.

AMANDA
(to herself)
Why? Why? Why?

The van continues to drive down the deserted highway; the


port can be seen in the distance.

VAN DRIVER
We’re coming up to the port.

JUAN CARLOS
I see it.

The Mexicans drive in silence as they get closer and closer


to the port.

EXT. – PORT’S FRONT GATE ENTRANCE - DAY

The van drives up to the heavily guarded front entrance of


the port. There are SECURITY GUARDS standing at the post
holding machine guns.

The van comes to a stop at the gate and a tough-looking


security guard approaches the driver’s side.

Once he approaches the van, Amanda sits up attentively and


starts screaming.

AMANDA
Help! Help! I’m being held captive!
Please help!

The security guard casually looks into the van then at all
the Mexicans. Juan Carlos manages to flash a little smirk
to him.

Amanda, shocked that the security guard is ignoring her,


pleads to him again.

AMANDA
Are you deaf?!? These guys have kid-
napped me! Help, please!

The security guard continues casually looking into the van,


then finally looks at Amanda.

PORT SECURITY GUARD


Calm down and if you listen to these
nice gentleman then maybe you’ll live
through this ordeal.

Juan Carlos passes an envelope filled with money over to


the security guard, who happily accepts it.

PORT SECURITY GUARD


Thank you.

JUAN CARLOS
(smiles)
Thank you.

AMANDA
No, no, this can’t be happening!?!?

The security guard takes a step back and signals to another


guard to raise the gate, once the gate is up he waves the
van through.

Amanda hopelessly stares at the security guard as the van


drives through the gate and past him.

What the hell was that?

JUAN CARLOS
In Mexico, everyone has their price.

Amanda slouches back down and leans up against the side of


the van, she’s seemingly given up.

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

The van drives towards the water where a large cargo ship
is docked and a black Escalade is parked in front of it.

INT. – MIGUEL’S CAR DRIVING ALONG THE DESERTED HIGHWAY

Miguel’s car is approaching the port, which is still far


off into the distance.

MIGUEL
We’re almost to the port.

BRENDAN
There’s got to be security there, right?

MIGUEL
Ohh yes, a lot of it, it’s controlled by
the Yucatan Cartel.

MICHAEL
(sarcastically)
Ohhh great.

MIGUEL
But don’t worry, I got a way around it.
Just promise you’ll get me to a hospital.

MICHAEL
I will, I will.

Michael stares at Miguel for a few seconds to size him up


while he drives.

MICHAEL
Pull over I need to piss.

MIGUEL
Now?

MICHAEL
Yes now.

BRENDAN
Really? You have to go right now? Talk
about losing your focus.

MICHAEL
(yells)
I have to piss now!

MIGUEL
OK.

Miguel pulls the car over to the side of the road.

MICHAEL
Brendan, stay here and watch him.

Michael gets out of the car and walks a few feet away from
the car and onto the grass.

With his back to the car, he takes a deep breath then turns
around, rushes back to the car and fires two shots to
Miguel’s head through the open window.

Miguel’s head falls forward and hits the steering wheel.

Brendan, who gets splattered in the face with Miguel’s


blood, immediately jumps back into his seat in shock.

BRENDAN
Why the hell did you do that?!?

Michael opens the passenger side door and starts moving


Miguel out of the driver’s seat.

MICHAEL
You heard it yourself, the port is
controlled by the Cartel. We would not
have made it through the front gate of
the port alive. Trust me.

BRENDAN
Well how are we going to get in the port?

MICHAEL
I don’t know, we’ll figure it out. Come
on, help me with him.

Brendan gets out of the car and helps get Miguel out of the
car by pushing him over to Michael.

Once Michael has a good hold on him, Brendan moves over to


the passenger side of the car and helps pick him up.

They carry Miguel about twenty feet off of the road and
drop his body in an area of tall grass.

BRENDAN
We’re just going to leave him out here?

MICHAEL
We don’t have time to do anything else,
I need to find my girlfriend.

BRENDAN
What if someone finds him?

Michael looks up at the sky and sees a few vultures


circling overhead.

MICHAEL
Don’t worry, the vultures will take care
of him in no time. Whatever, his boys
took my girl, he got what he deserved.

Michael and Brendan walk back to the car.

INT. – MIGUEL’S CAR

The two are shocked to see how much blood is covering the
windshield, especially around the driver’s seat area.

BRENDAN
Holy shit!

MICHAEL
Look around for a towel or something.

The two look around the floor of the car for any sort of
towel or blanket, Brendan finally finds one in the back
seat and grabs it.

BRENDAN
Here.

MICHAEL
You should probably use the towel first.

BRENDAN
(confused)
What? Why?

MICHAEL
You have his blood all over your face.

Brendan wipes his face with the towel and sees all the
blood wiped off from his face.

BRENDAN
(shocked)
Holy Christ!

MICHAEL
I know.

Michael takes the towel and starts wiping the windshield


off. The whole towel turns red very quickly as a lot of
the blood, but not all of it, is wiped off the windshield.

MICHAEL
That’s good enough. It’ll have to do.

Michael throws the towel in the backseat and drives down


the road towards the port.

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

The white van parks a few feet behind the black Escalade.
The Mexicans sit quietly in the van for a few moments until
there’s finally movement from the Escalade.

Three Mexican guys dressed impeccably in black suits get


out of their Escalade and stand facing the van.

INT. – WHITE VAN

JUAN CARLOS
Time to make the drop. Paco, come with
me.

Juan Carlos and Paco slowly get out of the van and approach
the three men.

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

The three men from the rival cartel stand firm in front of
Juan Carlos and Paco.

JUAN CARLOS
Gentlemen, good afternoon.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


Juan Carlos. You got the girl?

JUAN CARLOS
So much for small talk.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


I don’t want to be out here longer than
I have to. This port is dirty, and
disgusting; nothing like my hacienda in
the hills filled with my harem of
Brazilian bombshells.

JUAN CARLOS
Well, without further ado, let me
introduce you to our product.

Juan Carlos turns around and signals to his associates in


the van.

With the signal, two associates drag Amanda out of the van
and forcibly pull her over to Juan Carlos and Paco.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


(looks Amanda up and down)
Very nice…veeery nice.
(pause)
Juan Carlos, I think this could be the
start of something special between our
two cartels.

JUAN CARLOS
I know it will be, we have an endless
supply of these blonde beauties in
Cancun.

EXT. – ROAD LEADING TO THE YUCATAN PORT – DAY

Michael is speeding down the highway towards the port when


he suddenly veers off the road and heads towards a fence
that surrounds the perimeter of the port.

Michael jumps out of the car and runs to the fence with
Brendan trailing behind him. He sees a lone cargo ship
sitting at a dock in the distance and points it out to
Brendan.

MICHAEL
They must be transporting her out in
that cargo ship. It’s the only one I
can see.

BRENDAN
Do you see Amanda?

Michael looks hard around the port.

MICHAEL
No, I don’t. I see a couple cars close
to the ship though, she must be in one
of them.

BRENDAN
So what now?

Michael looks around and sees a military-style Humvee pull


over to the side of the road inside the port. The DRIVER
gets out and walks to the back of the Humvee to check the
tires.

MICHAEL
We’ll take them by surprise.

Michael scales the fence and jumps over it onto the port
property. Brendan is caught off guard but quickly follows
Michael by jumping the fence as well.

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

ROAD CLOSE TO THE FENCE

The two guys run over to the Humvee; Michael gets into the
driver’s seat and Brendan gets in the passenger’s side.

Michael peels out leaving the Humvee driver literally in


the dust.

HUMVEE DRIVER
Hey! Come back here!

The driver starts chasing the Humvee for a few feet but
quickly realizes that he can’t catch it, so he just chucks
his wrench in its general direction.

INT. – HUMVEE

Michael is speeding towards the cargo ship, which is still


off in the distance.

BRENDAN
(points)
There she is, look!

MICHAEL
I see her.

BY THE CARGO SHIP

The two rival cartel groups are finishing up their deal for
Amanda by the cargo ship.

One of the rival cartel members grabs a briefcase from the


trunk of the black Escalade and brings it to Juan Carlos.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


And to kick start our relationship,
here’s your payment.

Juan Carlos takes the briefcase.

JUAN CARLOS
Good doing business with you.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


When can I expect the next drop?

JUAN CARLOS
Next week, same time.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


Excellent.

JUAN CARLOS
She’s all yours.

Paco hands Amanda over to the cartel leader as Juan Carlos


walks back to the van.

AMANDA
No, no, no! Please no!

Amanda tries to resist as best she can – flailing her arms,


kicking her feet – but to no avail. A few of the cartel’s

goons restrain her and start leading her towards the cargo
ship.

She tries her best to continue resisting so one of the guys


just picks her up by the waist and carries her.

INT. – WHITE VAN

Juan Carlos and all of his associates get into the van.

JUAN CARLOS
Let’s head back to Cancun.

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the van is struck in the


side by the speeding Humvee being driven by Michael.

INT. – HUMVEE

Michael steps on the gas as hard as he can.

MICHAEL
Take that assholes!

INT. – WHITE VAN

The van is being crushed and moved across the road until
it’s smashed against a wall.

Juan Carlos and everyone else in the van is bruised and


injured.

JUAN CARLOS
Get out! Get out! Get him!

Juan Carlos’ door is right against the wall so he can’t get


out; the van driver tries to open his door but it’s jammed.

VAN DRIVER
I can’t! It’s stuck!

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

Michael puts the Humvee in reverse and aims for the group
of cartel members leading Amanda to the ship.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


Quick, get the guns!

The cartel associates scramble to get their guns from the


black Escalade.

Michael slams his foot down on the gas and speeds right
towards the three guys holding Amanda.

Michael hits one of the goons head on; the guy goes flying
in the air, lands on the windshield and falls off the hood
and onto the ground.

The Humvee comes to a screeching halt in front of Amanda


and the other two goons. The two guys are in shocked and
attend to their associate who just got hit, leaving Amanda
standing by herself for a moment.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


What are you doing fools?!? Get the
girl!

Brendan opens the door to the Humvee, which is now only a


few feet away from Amanda.

BRENDAN
Come on! Come on!

MICHAEL
Get in!

Amanda is in shock and isn’t sure what’s going on so


Brendan grabs Amanda’s arm, pulls her into the Humvee and
sits her between Michael and himself.

Once she’s in the vehicle, Michael speeds off down the


road.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


In the car! In the car!

The cartel leader and a few of his associates jump into the
Black Escalade and speed off to follow them.

Michael speeds down the road in the port, heading to the


heavily-guarded front gate.

INT. - HUMVEE

Brendan notices the black Escalade catching up to them in


his rear view mirror.

BRENDAN
Hurry up Mike, the Escalade is catching
up to us.

MICHAEL
Well we got all sorts of problems now
don’t we? We’re coming up on the front
gate with all those guards and their
pretty little machine guns.

BRENDAN
What are we going to do?

MICHAEL
Hang on!

Michael speeds towards the gate.

EXT. – PORT OF YUCATAN

FRONT GATE

The GUARDS take their positions in front of the gate and


start shooting towards the Humvee.

Not slowing down, the Humvee speeds right for the gate.
The guards scramble to get out of the way once they realize
the Humvee isn’t stopping.

The Humvee crashes right through the front gate and speeds
onto the highway. The force of the crash knocks over a
huge wooden pole that was standing by the gate. The pole
falls down across the gate, blocking the exit.

The black Escalade screeches to a stop in front of the


pole; they’re blocked from leaving the port.

The cartel leader jumps out and hits the hood of his car in
frustration.

YUCATAN CARTEL LEADER


Damn it! We lost the American girl!

The guards jump over the pole and run onto the highway to
continue shooting at the Humvee, but it is already far down
the road.

EXT. – DESERTED HIGHWAY - DAY

Michael is speeding down the highway in the Humvee.

MICHAEL
Are they following us?

Brendan looks in his rear view mirror and sees the port far
away in the distance. He can also barely see the guards
shooting at them anymore.

BRENDAN
No, we’re good, no one’s following us.
We’re safe.

Michael continues driving down the highway as all three of


them just sit there silently and stone-faced. Finally
after a few moments Amanda speaks up.

AMANDA
Can we go home now?

Michael gently holds Amanda’s hand as he drives.

DISSOLVE TO BLACK

INT. – AIRPLANE

Michael and Amanda are sitting in a row on a packed


airplane heading back to the U.S. with Julie and Brendan
sitting behind them.

FEMALE FLIGHT ATTENDANT (O.S.)


To all passengers we will be landing in
Chicago in approximately 20 minutes, at
this time please take your seats and
bring both your seatbacks and tray
tables to their upright and locked
position and stow away all your
electronic devices. We hope you all
enjoyed your stay in Cancun, now
sadly it’s back to reality for
everyone.

Having gone through hell, all four of them just sit there
in silence with blank expressions on their faces.
