Annual Pay Review -Y2014 and Compensation re-structuring


Dear Ragini R,
The past year has been interesting and challenging for the organisation and your performance has helped us
ride over these challenges effectively.
It gives us great pleasure to inform the successful completion of Year 2013 Performance Review cycle, and with
that, your compensation increment with effect from 1 April, 2014.
To help with our commitment to a fair compensation process, we had engaged Mercer Consulting to conduct
a market survey for all unique job roles within the integrated Pearson organization. Your performance, along
with comparable market data for the role you perform, and overall budgetary allocations helped us take a
decision on your compensation increment.
We are also moving to a standard compensation structure for all Pearson entities in India with this financial
year. Your compensation structure will undergo revision as a result of the same. A notable change to that effect
is that gratuity component will not form part of your fixed salary, if applicable. Company will continue to
provision for your gratuity on top of the new FCTC. This will now be paid in line with the Payment of Gratuity
Act 1972 upon cessation of service post completion of five years.
The breakup of new fixed salary or FCTC (fixed cost to company) will comprise of the elements as shared in
Annexure A (next page). These compensation decisions have been reviewed by your Function Head and the
HR function.
All other terms and conditions of your employment remain unchanged. For any clarifications, please contact
your HR representative.
We remain confident of a sustainable profitable growth for Pearson in India in the coming years and I look
forward to working with you to achieve our collective success in 2014.
