A continuacin les presentamos una gua explicativa y de ejercitacin.
Confiamos en que se comprometan a hacer un muy buen uso de este material.

Comparative Adjectives
Cuando queremos hablar de dos cosas o personas, podemos compararlas.
Podemos decir que son iguales o diferentes. Los adjetivos comparativos pueden ser
usados para describir esas diferencias.
Para su formacin requerimos utilizar la base con los adjetivos.
Formation of Comparative Adjectives

There are two ways to make or form a comparative adjective:


Short adjectives: Son los adjetivos que se componen de una slaba o de dos terminados
en Y.

1-syllable adjectives
2-syllable adjectives ending in y

old, fast, tall, clean


happy, easy, tidy,funny

1. Normal rule: add "-er"

older, faster,

taller, cleaner

2. Variation: if the adjective ends in -e, just add r

Si el adjetivo finaliza en la vocal e, solo se agrega la letra r.


3. Variation: if the adjective ends in consonant, vowel, consonant,

double the last consonant.


Si el adjetivo termina en consonante, vocal y consonante, se
repite la ultima consonante y se le agrega er.

Exception

Irregular adjectives

The following adjectives have irregular forms:

good better
well (healthy) better

bad worse

far farther/further

Superlative Adjective
Un adjetivo superlativo expresa el ms alto grado con
respecto a otros. El ms alto
La ms rpida
Usamos el adjetivo superlativo para describir la cualidad
extrema de algo o alguien dentro de un grupo.
En el ejemplo a continuacin biggest es la forma
superlativa del adjetivo big.

Formation of Superlative Adjectives

As with comparative adjectives, there are two ways to form a superlative adjective:

short adjectives: add "-est"


long adjectives: use "most"

Exceptions
With some 2-syllable adjectives, we can use '-est' or 'most':
Con algunos adjetivos de 2 slabas, podemos usar cualquiera de las dos

narrow the narrowest/ the most narrow

simple the simplest/ the most simple

Irregular Adjectives
The following adjectives have irregular forms:

good the best


bad the worst

far the furthest

Examples:

John is 1m75. David is 1m80. Chris is 1m85. Chris is the tallest.


Canada, China and Russia are big countries. But Russia is the biggest.

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
