ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants to submit the following documents:
a) National Identity Card / Business Registration Card;
b) AMBs registered dealer license for the year 2013;
c) Certificate of Incorporation (if applicable);
d) A valid Trading License;
e) Certificate from MRA showing Tax Account Number;
f) Proof of Importers Overseas Suppliers Proforma Invoice, duly sealed, in original in
the applicants name;
g) List of established customers;
h) Proof of purchase of potatoes at AMB during the year 2013 (01/01/2013 to 15/11/2013);
i) Proof of availability of funds of a minimum of Rs 500,000 as at time of application for
existing applicants;
j) Proof of availability of funds of a minimum of Rs 350,000 as at time of application for
new applicants; and
k) A bank transfer advice to show proof of transfer of funds for quota allocated for the year
2013 (Applicable only to previous importers).
N.B.: The bank transfer advice should clearly specify the date, importers name, beneficiarys name,
produce and amount transferred.

SECTION D
CONDITIONS TO BE APPLIED FOR THE ALLOCATION OF QUOTA FOR THE YEAR 2014:

Quota will be allocated on a formula approved by the AMB Board.

A new eligible importer will be allocated a quota of 28 tonnes, provided that the
applicant has purchased at least 28 tonnes of potatoes at AMB from 01/01/2013 to
15/11/2013.
(iii) A Strategic Buffer Stock fee of Rs 2.20 / kg will be charged and be payable by the
importer to AMB.
(iv) Import permits will be granted for arrival in Mauritius not before 28th February 2014.

Imported potatoes shall be put on the market not later than 5th July 2014 and proof of
sales must be submitted on demand.
Imported potatoes under quota are meant for local consumption and not for re-export.
Eligible importers will not be authorised to import through third parties.
Those who were allocated a quota in 2013 but failed to fulfill their engagement, will not be
eligible for any quota in 2014.
Any quota allocated in 2014 and not imported will be automatically forfeited and
allocated to AMB.
The quota of those having imported in 2013 without authorisation and/or in excess of the

quota allowed will be reduced by twice the quantity of any unapproved import.
(xi) Eligible importers failing to import their quota on the designated date(s) without valid
reason(s) shall be liable to a penalty fee of Rs 10,000.
