Taking an overview of the company and try to learn the whole process of
merchandising to find out the various problems for which there is need
to do value management.

Week 3& 4
Collecting the previous data of Abercrombie and Fitch. Go through the
time and action calendar of various styles, previous orders and present
orders.
In this I had found that in sampling there is not any separate stitching
line available for brand Abercrombie n Fitch. At same time there are
more than 5 styles had to be cut or stitch but because of the line
unavailability there is more waiting time. And after that in finishing
more time will be taken to finish the garment. Due to that samples are
not ready on time and bad feedback had come from buyer and further
process of samples will also dis balanced which creates a lot of variation
in T&A.
As sample is getting late to reach the buyer we have to wait for the
comments from the buyers and then we cant arrange the trims and
fabric on time for the next sample.

Week 5 & 6
After handling some styles i am able to understand the process
properly and get more to know about the styles.
I have found that at the time of shipment there are always some
problem occur in the garment like measurement problem and then
either the garment has sent it like that only or it has to go on
machine again. Quality checker rejects the sample at the time of
shipment which creates lots of problem for the merchandiser.

Do value management in sourcing or purchasing for Abercrombie
and fitch
For any style there are many things to source like fabric, trims,
laces, labels, etc
Lets an example
We have lace in one style and we have to source it for better quality
and less costly lace we have to source from various suppliers.

These are 3 suppliers who offer different price for the same lace we have
to choose best one which will be set in our pricing. 2 suppkiers have
minimum quantity order but having low price but 3rd one is having no
minimum order quanity but high price. but we only want 30 mtrs lace
for making samples in product development we dont want it for
production at this point so for that we have choose supplier 2 for lace
supply because it does not have any minimum order quantity yet its
price is high. We are beneficial to choose this supplier only.
