BACKGROUND

According to the Resolution of the Council of Foreign Ministries (OIC CFM) Res.
No.:8/42-C (28 May, Kuwait,) OIC CFM welcomes different ICYF-DC initiatives
including but not limited to 10 Young Muslims who can change the World Global
Award; establishing National Youth Councils in the OIC Member States, in particular
in the MENA region; OIC Model International Relations Training Program; State of
Muslim Youth Annual report; Mevlana international student exchange programme
and Ibn Batuta international youth exchange programme all aimed at
implementation of strategic targets of 10 Goals in 10 Years Istanbul Youth
Declaration; endorses the ICYF-DC initiative to hold a Pre-Summit Youth Event as
part of the 13th Islamic Summit to be held in 2016 in the Republic of Turkey and
requests the OIC General Secretariat and the host country to cooperate with ICYFDC for successful realization of the initiative.

CONTENT AND THE THEME

The OIC Pre-Summit Youth Event (12-13 April, 2016) is the part of the 13th
Islamic Summit Conference to be held on 14-15 April 2016, in Turkey. The OIC Youth
Pre-Summit has the aim to connect 100 young leaders who has created a change in
their locals from all over OIC Member States.
The theme of the conference will be Unity in action: for peace and justice
through sustainable development. The conference will be two days and will
held in stanbul-Turkey.
The goals of the conference are, to bring together young champions of the said
causes to discuss pressing issues related to the development of Muslim youth; to
exchange best practices of civil youth initiatives; and to draw strategies of joint
youth actions. The Final Recommendation of young leaders will be presented to the
the Islamic Summit Conference.

THE FORMAT AND METHODOLOGY

The OIC Youth Pre-Summit programme will gather 100 young leaders from the OIC
region and will create a platform where they can discuss, point out the most
important youth related problems in the region and produce
their
recommendations for solutions as youth leaders.

In order to reach the goals and create a better environment for the participants the
conference will be a combination of plenary sessions and workshops. It will
encourage the active involvement of participants, giving them space to take an
active role, express themselves and share good examples of practices.

ORGANIZATION

The Pre-Summit Youth Conference will be organized by ICYF-DC with cooperation of

the host country-Turkey. ICYF-DC will be in charge of the content coordination and
implementation.

NOMINATION AND THE SELECTION

The final selection will be made by the organizing team according to the criterias
described below;

To be citizen of the OIC Member States or representative of Muslim

community in non-OIC Member States

Able to speak in English;

Age between 18-32;

Involved/coordinated any innovative youth social project,

Active in community services,

Motivated to attend the full duration;

To be one of the young leaders with a specific change in his-her local

community.

Nomination should be confirmed by MYS of the nominees country of

residence (for OIC MS citizens) or ICYF-DC recognized Muslim minority
organization (non-OIC citizens )

COSTS

Travel, Accommodation and other costs: ICYF-DC will cover all travel and local costs
(accommodation, food and transportation).
