1. Explain the concept of teaching as a profession and characteristics of a


teacher as a professional. (C2, LO1, LO8,EM1)
2. Discuss critically issues on teachers ethics and integrity with reference to
teacherscode of ethics, accountability and integrity. (C4, LO3, LO8,
CTPS1,EM2).
3. Interpret the teachers role as a leader who is a professional based
on the teachers development stages of and with reference to various
relevant resources.(C5, A5, LO3, LO6, LO8, CTPS2, LL1,EM1)
4. Create a self development and career plan that will enable a teacher to

Teaching-learning strategy:
1. Lecture,tutorial and discussions.
Assessment strategy:

Assessment is divided into two parts that is the Coursework (50%) and the
Final Examination (50%). The coursework is carried out throughout the course
while examination is administered at the end of the semester.
The coursework includes a critical review and also an academic writing. The
coursework is prepared based on the Course Work Guideline Manual (Buku
Panduan Penggubalan Kerja Kursus).

This course discusses the concept of a profession; characteristics of a


teacher as a professional; ethics and accountability; stages of teachers
development; leadership and roles of a teacher; organizational structure of
the education system, and the development of teachers professional skills
in schools.
