Important !

Introduction of new control unit software identification online for cars and smart model series
451
With DVD 03/2013, we will introduce the identification of new control unit software online via
requests sent to Daimler central systems. This will initially involve cars and the smart model series
451. Workshop employees are not required to make any manual selections for this procedure.
Requests occur unnoticed in the background during the program run.
There is a new process for the offline workaround that will be supported by the User Help Desk for
diagnosis.
An overview of the new workaround process, as well as detailed process descriptions for XENTRY
Diagnostics and XENTRY DAS can be found in the INFO information system or in the Support Tool.

New features & information specific to XENTRY systems

Description of update process
XENTRY Connect:
1. Please save your StartKey via the StartKey Center before starting the update.
2. Supply XENTRY Connect and the Blu-ray drive with power. Make sure there is no LAN cable
connected to XENTRY Connect. Only use the Blu-ray drive's original power supply unit.
3. Connect the Blu-ray drive to XENTRY Connect using both USB connectors and push the XENTRY
Connect Update BD into the drive.
4. Set XENTRY Connect to standby mode (via Switch off device). Then start the update process by
simultaneously pressing both buttons on the XENTRY Connect display (check mark and x). A
display prompt will appear (Start Update?), which you need to confirm with the green check mark.
After a brief period, the update process will start.
5. You will see a progress bar on the XENTRY Connect display. After approx. 2 hours, a disk with a
check mark will appear on the XENTRY Connect display which signals that the update has ended. The
unit automatically shuts down after a brief period.
6. If starting XENTRY Connect for the first time after the update, make sure it is connected to an
external power source. After starting up again, the Unit starting message will appear for approx. 10
minutes and the red Busy LED lights up; the unit cannot be operated during this time.
XENTRY Connect is ready for use once the message disappears and the green LED is lighting.
XENTRY Tab:
1. Supply XENTRY Tab and the Blu-ray drive with power. Connect the Blu-ray drive to XENTRY Tab
using both USB connectors and push the XENTRY Control Update DVD into the drive.
2. The Windows Explorer "AutoPlay" menu will open automatically with the contents of the DVD:
Open the "Runstart.exe" file by clicking on it and confirm the prompt with "Yes". The Windows
installation dialog will open which will guide you through the necessary steps.

 WIS/ASRA online on XENTRY Kit

Following the market launch of XENTRY Kit in November 2012, WIS/ASRA will only be available in
online mode via the central installations. Should you not yet have online access to a central
installation, please request this from your WIS/ASRA contact or WIS/ASRA First Level Support in
your market. You too can then benefit from all the advantages of the online mode for diagnostic
systems, such as access to the latest documents 24/7. If access to a central installation is not
possible or excluded, WIS/ASRA may also be ordered and used as a stand-alone version in
exceptional cases. The order is then made via the familiar StartKey ordering process.
Important note:
Should you wish to change to the online WIS/ASRA, please remember to remove your details from
the distribution list for the WIS/ASRA-DVD channeled automatic dispatch or to reduce this.
In this case, please contact your national organization (or for operations in Germany, the Customer
Support Center).
Display of data content for buses
On XENTRY systems, data content for the vehicle CD for buses is displayed via the XENTRY Tab. Data
can be simultaneously accessed online via the EvoBus documentation "BusDoc". The HTML Viewer
has been deactivated.
The EvoBus documentation "BusDoc" can be accessed via the XENTRY Tab browser.

New features specific to Star Diagnosis systems

Delta update
This update is a delta update. When updating from DVD 01/2013 to 03/2013, only this data medium
is required. If DVD 03/2013 is imported following a recovery, you will need the full-update DVD from
Release 11/2012 and update 03/2013.

No SDmedia update
There is no new content in SDmedia for 03-04/2013 and therefore no DVD 03-04/2013. The latest
version is the release from 01-02/2013. For required installations, use the DVD from the release 0102/2013.
SDmedia no longer installable on Star Diagnosis compact3
SDmedia can no longer be installed on Star Diagnosis compact3 systems. An installation is still
possible on Star Diagnosis compact3w systems.
Display of data content for buses
The display of data content on the vehicle CD for buses has been disabled for Star Diagnosis
systems. Data can be simultaneously accessed online in the EvoBus documentation "BusDoc"
using the Star browser. The vehicle CD can be loaded on a standard PC or laptop. The HTML
Viewer tool has been disabled.
