About This
Document

This document provides the steps necessary for installation and


configuration of the McAfee AntiVirus Protection products on a system
running RES, server and win32 clients, or MICROS e7.
This document contains installation and configuration steps pertaining to
the following McAfee products. A site only needs to install one of these
versions. The most recent version is listed first.

Installation
Procedures

Follow these steps to install McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013.


1. Insert the McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013 CD, if the installation screen
does not appear automatically, locate the CD drive in Windows
Explorer and double click on Install.exe.

2. Leave the option Download and install the latest version of your
software from the web (recommended) selected. This is critical as
significant issues have been found when installing only from the CD.

3. Verify your PC is connected to the internet. Accept the License


Agreement and click Install.

4. McAfee will download and install.


If the installation stops before the files are downloaded, verify you
can connect to McAfee.com and try again.

5. After the installation completes, click Next.

Only the McAfee AntiVirus sections mentioned in this document have


been changed for testing with RES. Any section not mentioned has been
left with the default settings. Configuration is divided into the following

McAfee allows Micros applications permissions, but you may still


occasionally see a prompt from McAfee that a program wants internet
access.

If it is a Micros program like the example above, click Allow always.

Follow these steps to configure your Firewall settings:
1. Open McAfee to Home | Web and Email Protection | Firewall.

2. Open the Traffic Controller tab.

Firewall Networks
Follow these steps to configure Firewall Networks:
1. From the McAfee home page, click Navigation | Firewall | My
Network Connections.

The range of IP Addresses that the Restaurant uses needs to be entered


here. If the correct range is already listed there, click on that Range to
select it and click Edit.

2. Set Connection Protection Type = Home.

Note

Selecting Work will NOT allow communication with the database


and POS Operations will NOT load.

3. If the correct range of IP Addresses was not already listed, click Add.
Enable Range and enter the IP addresses your Restaurant uses. Click
Save.

Set Connection Protection Type = Home. (POS Operations will not
load if set to Work)
Save.
4. If you have any IP addresses that should be trusted that do not fall
within your defined Range, then click Add again and enable Single.
Add each additional IP address one at a time and click Save each
time.

From the McAfee home page, click Navigation in the upper right
corner.

2. Click Firewall | Ports and System Services.

3. Scroll down to find Web Server (HTTP) Port 80 and Enable it.
If that record is not already there, click Add to create it. Otherwise,
highlight the Web Server record and click Edit.

Note

RES 5.x requires both ports (TCP 80) and (UDP 1701) to be open.
RES 4.x requires only port (TCP 80) to be open.

System Service Name: Web Server (HTTP) (TCP 80) (UDP 1701)
System Service Category: System Ports
Service Description: HTTP Web Server Ports / Micros
Local TCP/IP Ports: 80
Local UDP Ports: 1701
Open ports to: All PCs
Leave YES box UN-checked.
Click Save.
Use these settings for RES 4.x:
System Service Name: Web Server (HTTP) (TCP 80)
System Service Category: System Ports
Service Description: HTTP Web Server Ports / Micros
Local TCP/IP Ports: 80
Open ports to: All PCs
Leave YES box UN-checked.
Click Save, or if no changes made click Cancel.
4. Click Add to enter a new port.
System Service Name: Micros ODBC Connection (TCP 2638)
System Service Category: Micros
Service Description: Database connection
Scroll down to see the rest of the form.
Local TCP/IP Ports: 2638
Open ports to: All PCs
Leave YES box UN-checked.
Click Save.

Important Instructions for running RES Patches


This section discusses important steps and information when running a
RES patch.
1. Immediately after starting a RES patch, you may see a prompt
regarding a file named Psexec.exe. This is a patch file and must be
permitted to run. This file cannot be permitted in advance because it
is not present until the patch begins.

For RES 4.x and 5.x systems


RES 4.x and RES 5.x service pack patches will fail unless Real-Time
Scanning is disabled while the patch is running.
A service pack patch is any patch that changes the second digit of the
build number.
Example:
Upgrading from RES 4.8 to RES 4.9 or upgrading from RES 5.0 to 5.1.
Just before running any RES service pack patch take the following steps:

1. Open McAfee AntiVirus Plus.

Note

It is not necessary to disable Real-Time Scanning when running a


Maintenance Release (MR) or Nova fix patch.

2. Click on Real-Time Scanning | Real Time Scanning Settings, and


Click Turn Off.

3. In the When do you want to resume Real-Time Scanning? drop down


box, select When I restart my PC.

4. Click Turn Off.


5. Click Done.
6. Close McAfee AntiVirus Plus.
7. Run the RES patch. After the RES patch has completed, the system
will reboot. Do not do anything to prevent the patch from rebooting
the system after completion.
8. Immediately after the patch has completed, open the McAfee
Security Center and verify that Real-Time Scanning is ON.

MICROS e7

Depending on the Operating System, McAfee AntiVirus updates could


change the McAfee AntiVirus application. Only the McAfee AntiVirus
section mentioned has been changed for testing with MICROS e7. Any
section not mentioned has been left with the default settings.

1. Open McAfee AntiVirus Plus.

2. Click on the View firewall and anti-spam settings.

Networks

Follow these steps to configure Firewall Networks:


1. On left side, click on Networks. If Networks is not available click
Trusted and Banned IPS.

2. Click Add, and enable Range. From the Type drop-down, select
Trusted.
3. Insert the IP address range for your clients / network in the From IP
Address and To IP Address and click OK.
If you have any IP addresses that should be trusted that do not fall
within your defined Range, then click Add again and enable Single.
Add each additional IP address one at a time clicking OK to save
each time.

Firewall Ports

Follow these steps to configure Firewall ports:


1.

Click System Services on left side pane.

2. Select Add.
3. In the System Service Name field enter Micros ODBC Connection
(TCP 2638).

4. In the Local TCP/IP Ports field enter 2638, and click OK. If Local
TCP/IP Ports is not listed, then insert 2638 in both the Inbound
TCP/IP and Outbound TCP/IP fields.
5. Verify that the new entry is enabled with a check mark and then click
Apply.
6. Enable Web Server (HTTP) Port 80 and click Apply.

This section discusses important steps and information when running a


RES patch.
1. Immediately after starting a RES patch, you may see a prompt
regarding a file named Psexec.exe. This is a patch file and must be
permitted to run. This file cannot be permitted in advance because it
is not present until the patch begins.

RES 4.x patches will fail with Invalid Patch file message unless
virus protection is disabled while the patch is running.
Just before running any RES patch take the following steps:
1. Open the McAfee Security Center.

4. Under Virus protection is enabled, click the Off radio button.

5. A dialog will appear. Click the drop-down and select At computer


restart.
6. Click OK.
7. Close the McAfee Security Center.
8. Run the RES patch. After the RES patch has completed, the system
will reboot. Do not do anything to prevent the patch from
rebooting the system after completion.
9. Immediately after the patch has completed, open the McAfee Security
Center and verify that virus protection is ON.

When installing McAfee Virus Software and performing a RES


installation, the user should perform the McAfee installation first.
Once McAfee has been installed, and prior to installing RES, some of the
services within the McAfee Virus Scan Console must be temporarily
disabled. See the Disable McAfee Virus Scan Before Installing RES
section in order to disable the 2 services.
This document is divided as follows:
Install McAfee Anti-Virus Software on a RES System

Note

Although MICROS believes that all MICROS products work


with the default settings of McAfee Anti-Virus software, it is
possible that you may need to make adjustments to the firewall
settings depending upon your network configuration and needs.

1. Insert McAfee Anti-Virus CD ROM into CD reader. If auto run does


not start, open My computer | CD ROM Drive | and double click
Setup.exe.
2. The VirusScan Setup screen will appear, prompting the user to
remove any previously installed Anti-Virus software. The prompt
will identify all Anti-virus software products that will be removed.
Click Yes.

3. After the previously installed Anti-Virus products have been


removed, the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Setup screen will appear.
Hit Next to begin installation setup.

4. When the McAfee Licensing screen appear, select the I accept the
terms in the license agreement and click Ok.

5. Select either the Typical Setup type, or a Custom setup type and
click Next.

6. Select Maximum Protection and click Next.

7. Click Install to begin installing the McAfee software.


8. After installation is complete, leave the default checkboxes enabled
an click Finish.
9. McAfee Anti-Virus will perform an automatic update of the virus
definitions and will begin a initial scan of the hard drive for viruses.

Services Before
Installing RES

McAfee software should be disabled before beginning a RES installation


(either an initial installation or an upgrade). Follow these steps to disable
McAfee:
1. Right click the red shield in the lower right corner of the window
desktop.
2. Select Virus Scan Console.
3. Right click Access Protection and select Disable.
4. Right click Buffer Overflow Protection and select Disable.

5. After disabling the above two protection the user may now proceed
with RES installation.
6. Once RES installation is complete, proceed to the Enable McAfee
Virus Scan section.
