ACTION PLAN FOR WRITING

Writing skills cannot be improved by reading & practicing English text books----get that
straight. I have discussed on this issue for the multiple times in the class. Just reiterating
those words.
First, to harness your writing skill, U need to read & write a lot. What to read? Anything that
pleases you. I.e. sports, entertainment, business, politics, religion etc. Read anything you like
but just read.
Second, what should I write? Again anything you like. I.e. my three topics were religion,
sports & politics.
Third, how much should I write? Not less than 5 lines per day. I used to write 10 lines per
day, sometimes even more. So make it 10 lines per day. Write on facebook and blogs so that
you may receive feedback from them. You need to remember one thing that you will make
mistakes at the beginning. So do not pull yourself back by thinking that I am not a good
writer or I errs a lot. Ignore people's criticisms. Your dream carries much more importance
than that. START WITH SIMPLE SENTENCES.
Forth, quality matters quantity does not. You do not need to write 20 lines per day. At the
beginning I used to spend even 1 hour for writing just 10 lines. Try to make it better every
day. Use new vocabs in these writings.
Fifth, after doing this for 20 days, write on a topic which already came previously in IBA.
Evaluate your improvement. Then do this in every 5 days.
Sixth, you must go through Daily stars or Dhaka Tribune's business/world/National pages in
order to remain acquainted with the current issues which are vital for IBA writing.
Seventh, make a target to read at least 50 pages per day.
Eighth, if possible speak for at least 30 minutes per day.
Ninth, watch out some common grammatical structures. Most of the students usually erred
in S-V agreement, Tense, Pronoun references & misplaced modifiers. So go through this
mistakes and fix it from our lecture sheet, class lecture & cliff's tofel.

1. Some people think that development of IT will enhance human ingenuity. Others
believe that development of IT will inhibit human ingenuity. Discuss both the points
of view. Which view do you support? Give reasons for your choice.
2. Explain your views on the following: In some countries, television and radio programs
are carefully censored for offensive language and behavior. In other countries there is
little or no censorship. In your view, to what extent should the censor board or any
other body be able to censor television or radio programs? Explain, giving relevant

7. Per capita income has been increased to 3-digit figure. Do agree that we really have
prospered as a nation or the fortune of the people has improved?
8. Foreign TV channels are becoming very wide-spread in the country in such an extent
that even a 10 year old kid has started to speak Hindi. Do you consider this sign as a
boon or bane?
9. Bangladesh has the ability to become a superpower in the world. What do you think ?
Discuss briefly on the issue.
10.Entrepreneurship can be an important aspect to solve the employment crisis and push
the economic growth of the country. Do you agree? Describe with suitable examples.
