Data of different layers based on density

Questions based on scientific problems: How salt and food colorings
can create different level of layers, with the concept of density.

Hypotheses based on scientific problem: We think that the different

layer of the water was made because the difference of density, the bottom
has the most density because it is treated with more salt, and the next upper
layer has lesser density because it is treated with less salt.
Tools:
-

2 Measuring Cylinder (100ml)

Electronic Balance
Metal spatula
Petridish
Pipets
Beaker (150ml)
Materials:

500 grams of salt

Food coloring: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange
Water 100ml
Steps to make the different layers of liquid (Method):

Step 1: Add 30 ml on the 150ml of beaker

Step 2: add 4g of salt to the beaker
Step 3: add Yellow food color
Step 4: put that liquid into the 100ml cylinder with pipet
Step 5: do it repeatedly but each time you add half less salt than
before
(4, 2, 1, 0.6, 0.25 g) and use (after yellow) green, orange,
red, blue.
The data below is an estimation of density based on the amount
of water and salt; the data that we took was straight from our

experiment and its pretty precise, so please take your time to read
and understand our data.

The Graph that youre seeing here is a density data based on the
estimation data that we took straight from our experiment, so if you
are bored to read our data, you may find it more understandable in this
graph.

Discussion:

The trend in graph 1 is about the height of a layer being higher,

while the density decreases, as simple as it may seems the inside
science is quite hard (not the experiment).
This trend can be simply called density. As more salt added, the
less density increases. This occurs because the salt molecule fills the
water molecule, thus becoming denser, that means with less salt
equals to less density, and so it means that the highest layer has the
less density statement is correct? Yes! That is very correct.
The other way to check if my density theory is correct, it is that if
a wooden and steel block with the same volume drops to a pool at the
same time, the wooden block floats, while the steel block falls. This
indicates that density indicates either it floats or not.

Evaluation:

The weakness of our method is probably when we pour down straight

from the beaker to the measuring cylinder, the color mixed and we have to
restart again (Yes this actually happens), it is frustrating and we have to use
the pipet to use make the different layers. And another one is the height of
the color before we put another color was pressed and we cant change it
back
The possible explanation for the color pressure is because of the effect
of gravity, the gravity pushes down the color water making a bigger pressure
and force, creating a pressure that pressure the layer before.
Conclusion:
From The Data we get, it can be concluded that the hypotheses is
supported. The different layers of liquid can be created because of the
addition of Salt of different layers. The highest layer has the less salt and the
lowest layer has the most salt.
Suggestion:
My suggestion is that one should try to use sugar, because it can
dissolve easier than salt. If, Salt can make 6 layers, salt can make more than
six.
