How will you express yourself?
You are about to become a part of a movement that is literally sweeping the globe. Its called
IGNITE, and its simple
There are very specific rules. Rules that have a history! These rules actually started in Japan,
with a presentation style called Pecha Kucha, which features 20 PowerPoint slides for 20
seconds each. For those of you doing the math, thats a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Some
people thought that was too long, so here in America, the format was changed to 20 slides for 15
seconds each, for a total of 5 minutes. For our book talks we will keep each slide to 15 seconds
and use a total of 10 slides.
So, youre assignment is simple, but challenging to pull off. Here are the rules and expectations:
You pick a book you care abour. Your job is to show WHY it matters!
You will use Google Presentations (there is a reason why!!!)
The presentation must be timed to 15 seconds per slide.
Your presentation will include 10 slides (thats 2 and a half minutes).
The purpose of your slides is to enhance your speech!!!
You will be speaking the entire time.
You will develop a plan for your presentation.
You will write a script for your presentation (which you may use, if necessary).
Heres what you be assessed on:
1.
Your Brainstorming, Planning, & Timed Script. You will plan, draft, edit, and revise.
2.
The presentation itself. Organization, clarity, and level of engagement.
3.
Your presentation/speaking skills. Volume, pitch, enunciation, eye contact, and hand
gestures.
