role in the medieval European economy, and the way in which it was influenced by physical geography (the
role of the manor and the growth of towns)

TEACHING:
Motivation:
First, we will discuss the social class of today and compare that to then. We will also discuss jobs and possible
salaries. We will then classify them on the current social hierarchy.
Teacher Procedures:
Prior to the Computer
1. Annotate a short story on Feudalism with
the students.
2. Explain all elements of the rubric for the
assignment in detail.
At the Computer
1. While the students complete their task, the
teacher will facilitate the discussion.
2. Ask probing questions that will stimulate
thought regarding the project.
After the Computer

Listening to the presentation

Completing the rubric on each students
interactive multimedia program.

Student Procedures:
1. Complete a Frayer Model on each term
hierarchy, serf, peasant, freeman
2. Discuss the social class hierarchy within
groups.

tutorial in PowerPoint that will distinguish
between the life of a peasant, serf, and freeman
in medieval Europe.

to their previously designated classmate.
