Book review: Narnia, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Narnia, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is an Novel written by English
Oxford University professor C.S Lewis and part of the Chronicles of Narnia
series, which include seven books. The Novel is a best seller and has been
traduced into 29 languages. On the other hand The Lion, The Witch and The
Wardrobe has been made into a film by Disney.
Besides being an enjoyable book and an entertaining movie this story also
teaches important lessons of love and self-sacrifice. The book has many
awards and is recognized worldwide. The novel has been included on TIME's
unranked 2005 list of the 100 best English-language novels published since
1923 and a 2012 survey by the University of Worcester determined that it was
the second most common book that UK adults had read as children.
It tells the tale of four siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy; who leave for
the English countryside during air raids in London during World War II. They
stay at the large house of a distinguished professor and find a magical
wardrobe during a game of hide and seek that leads them to another world, the
world of Narnia.
The first part of the story deals with the move of the Pevensie, who are the
siblings, who due to the bombings in London during World War II have to move
to the countryside with a professor, here accidently Lucy, the youngest, finds
and hides in a wardrobe in a game of hide and seek and goes into a magical
parallel world, Narnia. Narnia is a land blanketed with snow and ice, inhabited
by mystical and magical creatures Narnia has fallen under the spell of the White
Witch, the self-proclaimed queen of the land. Lucy who tells her brothers but
they do not believe her, goes back on a night she cant sleep, this time followed
by her brother Edmund. Edmund is found by the white witch who treats him
kindly and makes him promise to return with his brother and two sisters with the
promise of making him king and all the Turkish delight he can eat, a desert he
liked.
Several days later all four children find themselves forced into the wardrobe and
into Narnia. They start the mission to find Aslan, who has come back to Narnia
to help them on their quest to defeat the White Witch. Aslan is a giant,
talking Lion who originally created Narnia and many times is compared to God.
Finally they defeat the White Witch, and restore peace in Narnia.
I really enjoyed and liked The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. C.S Lewis has
an outstanding ability to write just enough to give the reader a description of the
setting, scene and characters and leave the rest to your imagination, and
behind everything it leaves a message that throughout the lecture you will
understand and it will just sink in. I highly recommend this first book of the
Narnia Series to people of all ages to the little sister up to the Grand dad that
Im pretty sure he has already read it as its a classic childrens book and for the
little ones Im also sure they will see themselves in one of the 4 children. Its a

magical story, full of adventure and most importantly a heartwarming lesson,

that can be read in family.
