ATTENDANCE HITS 36 YEAR RECORD HIGH...
The 19th Society of Petroleum Engineers Middle East Oil & Gas Show and
Conference (MEOS 2015) attracted a record total of 8,227 attendees,
marking a 12% increase over the 2013 edition and reaching a new high in
the 36 year history of the event.
Confirming MEOS position as one of the most important events in the Middle Easts oil
and gas industry calendar, attendance growth was matched with robust participation by
240 regional and international exhibitors, a strong conference programme and high
levels of satisfaction amongst participants.
MEOS 2015 was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of
Bahrain Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The exhibition was ocially inaugurated by
Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The Exhibition
The world class exhibition of oil and gas products and services spanned 14,800 square
metres of space at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre and
showcased 240 exhibiting companies from 28 countries.
Principal exhibitors included GCC national oil and gas companies - ADNOC, Bapco,
Kuwait Oil Company, Qatar Petroleum, and Saudi Aramco - who participated alongside
international supermajors, service industry giants and independent specialist suppliers
and distributors from across the globe.
The exhibition also featured a large national group from North America, and for the first
time in show history, an ocial delegation of some of the largest oil and gas companies
from Egypt.

The Conference
The parallel conference organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) delivered
a pace-setting programme featuring 201 papers and e-posters from 28 countries,
representing 58 companies. Divided across 42 sessions, presentation topics included
reservoir, production and facilities, exploration and appraisal, drilling and completions,
project management, human resources, business models and HSSE.
The packed agenda also included a high level ministerial session, an executive plenary
session, a special financial session and 6 panel sessions.
The conference opened on 8 March with the ministerial session on this years theme
Energy Beyond Limits Through Innovation and Collaboration.' Following welcome
addresses from H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, Bahrain Energy Minister;
AbdulHameed Al-Rushaid, MEOS 2015 Conference Co-Chairman, Chief Drilling
Engineer, Saudi Aramco and Nathan Meehan, 2016 SPE President, the keynote
speakers included:

Plenary and panel sessions over the subsequent 3 days were led by chief executive
ocers, managers and presidents of NOCs, IOCs and the service industry. Discussion
topics included academic and industry collaboration, in country value, unconventional
resources, environmental stewardship, innovative collaboration and cyber security in the
energy sector.
Other highlights during the course of the conference include a special session entitled
The Current Turbulence in Oil & Gas Markets and its Possible Implications: A
Perspective from the IEF, led by Aldo Flores-Quiroga, Secretary General, International
Energy Forum (IEF).
Two one-day SPE training courses and a four-day programme of events for students and
teachers were also held alongside MEOS 2015.
