Researcher/Lecturer, University of Exeter, Business School, 2014-Present, UK
Working in partnership with the demand strategy team at South West Water, investigating
opportunities to reduce water usage in the tourism accommodation district through the
application of the behavior change lever, social marketing. The research applies a multistakeholder approach, working with supply-side, demand-side, academics and government.
Research has included the use of focus groups, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires
and the Delphi method. Data has been analyzed through thematic coding and multivariate
stats using SPSS (descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, factor analysis and cluster
analysis). This position also includes lecturing in the undergraduate and Masters level
modules on sustainability in the tourism department at the University of Exeter. Please see

Project.
Benefit Director and Member of the Board of Directors, Keene Advisors, 2015-Present, MA, USA
Aiding in the startup of an investment bank with pending benefit corporation certification.
Communicating all environmental and social efforts in annual reports to both the state of
Massachusetts and the nonprofit benefit corporation certification organization, B Corp, for
legal designation. Advising on marketing, benefit impact initiatives and business strategies

Mentor Teacher, NatureBridge, 2008-2013, Yosemite National Park, CA, USA
Navigating partnerships between University of California Merced, the National Park
Service, Upper Merced River Watershed Council and other park partners. Supervising
staff and providing trainings in areas such as climate change, ecology, Native American
studies, geology, history and human impacts. Managing stewardship projects including:
macroinvertebrate bio-monitoring, human impact assessments, moss regeneration, water
quality monitoring, wildlife monitoring, and snow depth studies. Please see here for an
example of a project I developed. Working with students with diverse age, ethnic and
socio-economic backgrounds, including extended backpacking expeditions. Please see

Senior Instructor, The Road Less Traveled, Summers 2008-2009, Hawaii, USA
Leading multiple, one month long environmental and cross-cultural community service
trips to Hawaii each year with high school students. Working with the cultural restoration
non-profit organization, Aloha Aina. Adventure components included traditional
Hawaiian canoeing, sailing and hiking. Service work included habitat restoration,
harvesting and making of traditional Poi and supporting their youth environmental

Instructing all aspects of the wilderness therapy curriculum with at risk youth. Including
backpacking, rock climbing, vocational skills training and leading therapy sessions.

Assistant Director, Wilderness Pursuits, Western State Colorado University, 2006-2008, CO USA
Organizing logistics for up to two week long expeditions in backpacking, rock climbing,
ice climbing, mountaineering, and white water rafting. Running skills trainings for field
instructors. Previously an instructor from 2003-2006 leading climbing, rafting, mountain
biking and backpacking trips.

Collecting and analyzing data for a variety of research projects including: Collection of
insects to determine further bio-isolation events from past glaciations on Mount
Uncompahgre, Colorado; plant counts to measure biodiversity within treated areas of habitat
of the endangered Gunnison Sage Grouse; regional water fowl counts and identification to
determine corridors of vital need; point counts along set transects in remote mountain habitats
for the endangered Uncompahgre Fritillary Butterfly.
