Standards, and Artifacts
The Budget assignment in MEDT 6461,
gave me the opportunity to manage funds
for the school library media center by
allocating those funds to support the
instructional needs of the school.

Analysis

By completing the Collection Analysis

Map, I was able to gather information
and analyze it to determine the quality of
information being provided by the
nonfiction section of the library. This
also gave me an insight as to why the
circulation of this section was lower than
the fiction section.
The Impact on Learning assignment
allowed me to explore a need in the
school library, plan for it, and deliver a
lesson. The students in my schools
library relied heavily on the schools
media specialist to locate information.
By teaching them how the nonfiction
section was laid out, they became selfusers of the media center.
The Two Year Plan I created gave me the
opportunity to explore different

support the students, teachers, and the
school as a whole. I was able to take
what I knew was in place and create new
programs based on the school wide plan
and student needs (i.e. basic computer
skills for Milestone testing).

The Media Center Webpage I created

included information for all patrons of
the media center. I was able to include
resources that could be used in and
outside of school for all students. The
teachers were allowed to request material
and collaboration through the website
and parents could see upcoming events
as well as resources to use to help their
students.
I created a power point format Media
Center Orientation to give the students
an alternative to a paper and ink format.
Through this orientation, students were
given policies and procedures pertaining
to the Media Center. This assignment
gave me the opportunity to familiarize
myself with proper protocol, procedures,
and policies related to the Media Center.

The Pathfinder was my first experience

of gathering resources for a grade other
than the one I teach. My group decided
to go with high school standards so it
would be a new experience for us all.
This assignment gave me the opportunity
to gather factual information and compile
it all in one location for student research.
It also showed me how to teach students

what is reliable information vs

unreliable.
Before creating a digital story, I was very
comfortable with creating videos. The
digital story gave me the chance to take
my videos to another level. I was able
to incorporate photos and words to teach
something to someone else. I also
learned how to select music that helped
sell the story. This new acquired skill
will be very useful when teaching my
students how to create projects in
alternative formats for differentiation and
students with special needs.
By creating the Facilities Floor Plan, I
was able to ensure full use of the Media
Center by all patrons. I was also able to
configure a layout that includes
classroom, small group, and individual
learning, as well as students with special
needs (i.e. handicapped accessible). I
created a functional space that gave all
learners access to the facility
(handicapped accessible, appropriate
seating for all)
