Job Title: Head -Transportation Analyst/Global logistics Greenville, SC

Position Overview:
Perform data collection, research and analysis on various segments of
transportation and logistics within Ubb, as well as, the logistics industry as a
whole. Core responsibility will be centered around supporting logistics data
management as well as the development of organizational cost and service
improvements by way of data management analysis and activity reports, which
includes network analysis on shipping characteristics, customer historical and
projected future activity, as well as variable changes with the network.
This position requires a strong aptitude for working with data and must enjoy
analyzing data, creating calculation formulas, developing data models utilizing
sophisticated analytic tools and evaluating model results.
This position requires a self managed and well organized person with a desire to
develop new solutions and improve existing ones.

Principal Accountabilities:
Maintaining systematic data warehouses on the Company's historical cost and
service parameters.
Gather data within the Company's data sources on the various transportation
modes, cost segments, service levels, etc. and compile the information into
useful summaries (tables, graphical charts and other visual tools, etc.).
Provide supporting information regarding industry trends and using commonly
used research methods and channels such as industry publications, government
data resources, internal and vendor information, academic research studies, etc.
Analyze data for opportunities for business process improvement or cost
savings opportunities.
Work with other analysts in the US and abroad to develop data management
tools, compile information from the Company's internal systems, and to develop
Company projects.
Support the company's logistics group by producing reports (including graphs,
summaries, etc.) that will be utilized by company and department executives for
improvements.

Cross train others and support others within the Company on functions tied to
freight management such as freight payment, carrier rate management, logistics
performance reporting, etc.

Major Responsibilities and Time Allocation:

Work within the logistics department team to develop cost and service
improvement projects,
including enhancements to current activity and execution methodologies, as well
as innovation
opportunities such as network optimization design, development of new
execution strategies, and
engagement with TMS and other systems development : 35%
Perform analysis of transportation data including routing compliance,
improvement opportunities
for ancillary charges, evaluation of on time performance and damage claim
activity. Work with
internal and external department partners in supporting the existing
transactional activity and
continually refine existing business practices : 35%
Create scheduled and ad-hoc reporting for communication of opportunities to
impact results;
send reports to departments and executives in the Company to improve
operational execution
and curb expense : 20%
Provide backup support for other department positions, such as rate
management in TMS, set
reporting functions, etc. : 10%

Critical Analytical Capabilities:


The candidate should possess very strong analytical capabilities
Ability to execute outside-of-the box thinking is critical. Must work with great
diligence on data changes such as evaluation of data quality, determining how to
fix gaps in data or 'clean' data. Must be able to make good decisions on data
concerns prior to going down the wrong path of execution and potentially
burning many hours of work due to data or formula errors.

Knowledge & Skills Necessary:


Working knowledge of the transportation industry including mode pricing
methodology, carrier service networks, and logistics processes utilized within the
industry. Very strong ability to take concepts and develop them into action plans.
Must be very analytical and meet skills requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management; preferably with an


Engineering Degree in Industrial Engineering / Bachelor's degree in
Business or Economics

Transportation experience in the areas of transportation management


such as carrier rate management, transportation planning, transportation
project management or logistics analysis. Exposure to various modes of
transportation rate methodology highly desirable (such as parcel and LTL
rating).

Experience in US logistics

Should possess strong Project Management skills

Strong Exposure in TMS

Computer skills including:


Advance skills in MS Excel 2007 or newer version in areas such as
linking workbooks, creating external links, re-directing links, embedding
objects filtering options, chart formatting options, and advanced use of
formulas. Skill in use of Excel VBA (Visual Basic of Applications)
programming highly desired with ability to use create Macros, utilize
ActiveX Controls, develop commands and use message boxes, user
forms, dialogue boxes, etc. that will automate and simplify tasks.
Intermediate skills in MS Access 2007 or newer version including
technical skills, planning and creating a database, saving and adding
records, finding and replacing values in a table, setting field properties,
creating expressions, creating reports, and printing reports.
Intermediate skills in MS Word 2007 or newer version, such as using
tables, columns and breaks, graphics, fields, headers and footers,
working with margins, page orientation, and spelling/grammar
Intermediate skills in MS Power Point 2007 or newer version such as
working with templates, using multimedia objects and custom
animations, adding interactions, and publishing completed
presentations.

Ideal candidate will have experience in SAP Transportation Management


System (TMS) 9.1 module
