It's not too late to start on the Trek Award. If you haven't started yet, here is
what you will need to do to earn it by the time we go on trek:
1. You need 1297 total miles, how many miles have you earned and you didn't
even know it? The following activities you may have doing from January to June,
if so, you have earned miles. Take the miles you can earn per month/activity
and times is by the number of months/times you did the activity

40 Mile Activities

30 Mile Activities

Get shoes for Trek, break them in by wearing them often (30 miles)
Invite a youth in your ward or stake to attend Trek with us (30 miles) #
For 2 weeks make a special effort to strengthen your relationship with a friend or family
member. Think of how these principles apply to your trek family and record your thoughts in
your journal (30 miles)
Learn the importance of patriarchal blessings from your parents/ leaders. If you have received
yours, re-read it. If you havent, begin making plans to do so. (30 miles)
Write your life story in at least 500 words (30 miles)
Think about what you would like to get out of your Trek experience. Write this and any other
Trek goals you may have in your journal (30 miles)
First two weeks of July walk at least 4 -5 times a week or participate in an organized aerobic
sport activity 4-5 times a week. (30 miles)
Last two weeks of July, walk at least 30-45 minutes every day at a brisk pace. This is important
these last two weeks so your muscles will be conditioned properly for Trek (30 miles)
Earn a Boy Scout required merit badge or rank advancement (30 miles) #
Complete a 5-10 miles hike (30 miles) #
Turn in Medical Release Form (If you haven't yet) (30 miles)

20 Mile Activities
Review clothing and packing list with parents and plan to get everything prepared (20 miles)
Teach a FHE lesson on Restoration and Prophets (20 miles)
Pray for a missionary experience. Read Matthew 24:14, 28:19 & D&C 88:81. Invite a nonmember/less-active to an activity. (20 miles)

Miles Earned

A pioneer is someone who is first to explore and apply new knowledge. Who pioneered the way
in the Gospel for your family? Learn something about them and record it. (20 miles)
Obtain and prepare a 5-gallon bucket to hold your day pack items on the trail (20 miles)
Complete a pedigree chart of your family showing the temple ordinances that have been
completed (20 miles)
Watch any of the following (20 miles) #
Ephraims Rescue, 17 Miracles, The Sweetwater Rescue, Legacy, American Prophet, A
Legacy More Precious than Gold
Add a picture or story to your family tree on familysearch.org (20 miles) #
Spend 3 or more hours indexing records at familysearch.org/indexing (20 miles) #
Make a clothing item for trek (20 miles)
Try completing 2 miles in 30 minutes if hiking along flat terrain (20 miles)
Print your personal Genealogy Fan on lds.org (20 miles)
Write down 25 things you are grateful for (20 miles)
Practice walking around in your trek clothes for a few hours to test for comfort (20 miles)
Learn something about the person you did a baptism in the temple for (20 miles)
Have clothing and supplies gathered and ready. Double check against packing list (20 miles)
Fast for a testimony strengthening experience while on trek (20 miles)
Start drinking 2 liters of water a day (8 glasses) at least a week before Trek (20 miles)
Read your scriptures daily until trek (20 miles)
Write in your journal daily until trek (20 miles)
Say prayers daily until trek (20 miles)
