COMPUTER CLASSES
community leadership program for people
age 50+, provided in partnership with the
Tallahassee Chamber Leadership Tallahassee
Program. TALLs purpose is to provide
actively engaged adults with snapshots of
the cultural, political, safety, legal and justice,
educational, and health and human services
climate of our community through site visits,
interactive activities, and contact with
community leaders. The goal is to inspire and
better equip adults to enhance positive
change and growth in the community, while
enriching their own lives. You are invited to
attend a Preview Reception. TALL Graduates
will be on hand to share their experience.

A Matter of Balance is a tried and true 8-week falls prevention program. It emphasizes
practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and to increase activity levels. Participants
learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity,
change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and

The dolphin cruise ship pulls out of the Destin Harbor with GaP grand-families who
spent a festive day at sea thanks to a grant from St. Johns Episcopal Church. For many
families, it was their first time aboard a boat, sighting a dolphin, and visiting Destin.

Duplicate Bridge Club (TDBC) and its
companion Capital City Duplicate Bridge
(CCDBC) have classes at all levels to educate you in standard approaches to the

10 requests a day from home-bound seniors needing assistance with paying their
utility bills or looking for ways to help
them stay cool this summer.
One of the challenges with the summer
season is that as temperatures rise, so do
electricity bills for seniors. Seniors who
are trying to stay cool and save on utility
costs often request fans. Elder Care Services relies on individual and community
donations to help meet these needs. Currently we only have few fans in stock, and
requests are expected to increase over
the next two months as Floridas hottest
weather approaches. The donations we
receive will allow us to continue to assist
those in need.

Welcome
John Buck
We welcome John Buck to the Tallahassee Senior Foundation Board of
Directors. John and his wife Marilyn
own FastSigns on North Monroe, which
employs 12 people. The couple has two
daughters, Abby and Laura, and they
enjoy walking and hiking with their dog
Rooster, and traveling.
The Buck family has visited 41 state
capitals in 13 years! John spent three
years in the U.S. Army as a military
police officer, stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He earned a B.A. in
business from the University of Missouri, with emphasis in finance, and a
minor in economics. John worked in the
mutual fund industry after completing
a masters in management from Baker
University.
John is excited to become part of the
foundation board and the board looks
forward to benefitting from his business knowledge and experience in process and service improvements.
