THISispotentiallythegreatestclassimaginableinthehumanmind.Studentstakingthisclass
havepassedceramics1and/orarein8thor9thgradeseekingabetteropportunitytodevelop
theirtalentsinartonahigherlevel.Youwillbegivenachancetodiveintoartinahandson
settingwithourfocusbeingon3Ddesign.Theclassfocusesonmakingartwithceramics
(wheelthrowandhandbuilding),aswellasplaster,wire,andpapertobuildtypesof3D
sculptures.

2.Createworksofartthatusetheelementsandprinciplesofart.

4.Evaluateworksofart.
5.Createmeaninginworksofart.

7.Recognizesomeinfluencesonartiststhroughhistory.
8.Makeconnectionsbetweenartandothersubjects.
9.Recognizehowartfitsintoeverydaylife.
MaterialsandSupplies
Studentswillbeexploringmanydifferenttypesofmediumsusingavarietyofmaterials.Our
mainfocuswillbewithceramicswithafewcarvingandsculptingprojectsusingplasterofParis,
wireandnylon,aswellaspaperandcardboard.Thesuppliesbeingusedforthissemesters
projectswillbeavailableinclassforstudentstouse.Theonlyrequiredoutsidematerialisan
OLD,BUTTONDOWNTSHIRTtohelpwiththemessthathappenswhenusingapotters
wheelandclayingeneral.:)Anyadditionaloutsidematerialsthatstudentswouldliketobringis
encouragedaslongasitisapprovedbyMrs.Paluandschoolregulations.
Grading
Skillbasedexercisesaregradedonmastery.Studentswillassistindetermininggradesfor
finishedartworks.
4Mastered(A),3Great(B),2Good(C),1Poor(D).
Homework
Anyworknotfinishedinclasswillbehomework.Additionalhomeworkassignmentsmaybe
announcedinclass.
MakeupWork
Assignmentscanbereworkedorredoneformorecredit.Toreceiveahighergradeonany
assignmentstudentscanputinextraeffortandshowobviousimprovement.Nomakeupworkis
acceptedthelastweekofthesemester.
LateWork

Itisimportantthatyoustaycaughtupwithassignmentsastheybuildoneachother.Wewillbe
critiquingworkinclasssoitisimportantforyoutohaveyourworkfinishedbeforethe
discussion.Nolateworkwillbeacceptedthelastweekoftheterm.
