TAX CONCERNS
What is HRA and what are its tax implications
Salaried employees usually receive HRA (House Rent Allowance) from their employers to
meet his/her stay expenses. The Income Tax Act allows for deduction in respect of the
HRA paid to employees and the exemptions are covered under Section 10(13A) of the
Income Tax Act and Rule 2A of the Income Tax Rules. However, it is to be noted HRA is an
allowance and is subject to income tax with exemptions.
