APPLICATION & ADVANTAGES

TESCOs Wear Protection accessories protect the couplings and

casing used as the drill string against abrasive wear during drilling.
Two Wear Protection options are available:
Wear Band: Metal ring with a Tungsten Carbide (TC) hard facing
coating installed just below the coupling to protect integrity of the
connection.
Wear Sleeve: Steel tube with large contact area, typically placed
anywhere on the joint as required. Wear sleeves are made without
TC hard facing.

TESCOs Wear Band TC hard facing combines abrasion resistance

and toughness and is installed with a proprietary process with little
or no distortion of the steel band. The TC coating is capable of
withstanding downhole drilling loads and vibration.
TESCOs Wear Sleeves provide an economical solution to casing
protection when wear conditions are moderate, or near the bottom
of the string if buckling is anticipated.
Installation by the patented RTF (Radial Tubular Forming)
crimping process provides a strong mechanical attachment that
locks the accessory to the casing. Accessories are installed in the
field, pipe storage yard or pipe mill without the use of damaging
set screws or welding.

DESIGN & FEATURES

TESCOs TC proprietary coating is applied in a controlled

manufacturing environment and creates a metallurgical bond to the
base metal. The coating is resistant to highly abrasive formations
and will not peel or shatter under load or impact.
Diameter of the finished Wear Band TC coating is slightly larger than
the coupling for increased protection.
Wear Bands offer maximum wear resistance while Wear Sleeves provide
protection for moderate wear conditions at lower cost.
TESCOs Wear Protection accessories slide on the casing and are
attached by the patented RTF process providing a strong mechanical
attachment to the casing.
Size availability matches common pipe sizes used in CASING
DRILLING applications.
