Pokmon: The Journey Begins

BLACK
After a moment, a small, white screen appears. It doesnt
fill up the space, like its in wide screen.
Something begins to fill the screen...It is the intro clip
from the original Pokmon: Red and Blue versions. A Nidorino
battles a Gengar, and the Gengar faces Nidorino with its
back to us. The clip plays in its simplicity. The Nidorino
backs up to pounce...
The screen disappears to reveal the TITLE:
"Pokmon: The Journey Begins"
The screen reappears and as the Nidorino jumps toward the
Gengar...
EXT. STADIUM-NIGHT
The real-life NIDORINO bursts through the screen of pixels
and the fight takes place for real in a large arena like
that of a football stadium.
It is packed with thousands of fans who CHEER with spirit.
In the center is the battlefield.
The battlefield is a huge space made of well-manicured clay
with white outlines and a large pokball emblem in the
center. On each extreme end, outside of the actual field,
the Pokmon trainers stand. TRAINER 1 is on one side of the
arena and orders the Gengar. TRAINER 2 is on the other and
orders the Nidirino.
ANNOUNCER
Gengaaaar avoids a tackle attack!!!
Trainer 2 points and makes an order.
Nidorino, angered, circles Gengar for a moment before
pouncing once more. Gengar dodges the attack easily.
Gengar, smiling as always, stares down the Nidorino after
the failed attack.
ANNOUNCER
Gengar evades once more!
TRAINER 1, confident, makes his order.
Gengar looks relaxed, but alert.
Nidorino begins to close in again on Trainer 2s order.

ANNOUNCER
Nidorino with a charge!!!
Nidorino gets closer...
GENGAR claps its hands together to summon an attack. From
those hands, it emits a continuous circular wave that
Nidorino runs straight into.
ANNOUNCER
Its a HYPNOSIS!
Nidorino begins to stagger as it runs. It falls to the
ground, sliding beneath Gengars feet. Asleep.
Gengar hops backward and prepares to summon an attack. A
wave of black/purple energy emits from Gengar when...
PAN OUT TO:
INT. BEDROOM-DAY
The battle is being watched from a small analog television,
and before Gengar attacks, the television turns off.
The TV is on a small dresser against the wall. Beneath the
TV is a VCR with tapes littered around labeled "Round 1
1992" "Semis 1994" "Finals 1993" and the like. In the corner
of the room lies the bed. Man-made shelves sit above the
frame, decorated with Pokmon memorabilia and framed
pictures. It is a conservative living space.
The owner of the room is on the end of his bed where he was
watching the TV. His name is RED (18). His slight, athletic
frame is dressed in blue jeans and a red vest with a black
shirt underneath. He holds a red and white ball cap.
Red looks at the blank TV screen with a small smile and then
downward. Hes thinking.
BEAT
Red gets up, puts on his cap, and exits.
