Creemos que, a raz de todo lo previamente analizado, el enfoque sealado
como Grammar Translation method, no genera un aprendizaje eficaz en
trminos de comunicabilidad, aun considerando sus efectos positivos.
Por otro lado, el objetivo actual en la educacin chilena respecto al aprendizaje
del idioma ingls, est orientado especficamente hacia la comunicacin.
Ciertos anlisis de la situacin chilena como el de Sheehan (2004) sealan por
ejemplo que:

1- Shih-Chuan Chang (2011). In the Western world, foreign language
learning in schools was synonymous with the learning of Latin or Greek.
Latin was taught by means of what has been called the Classical Method:
focus on grammatical rules, memorization of vocabulary and of various
declensions and conjugations translation of texts, doing written exercises

6- Richards, J., & Rodgers, T. (1986). 1.- The goal of foreign language study
is to learn a language in order to read its literature or in order to benefit
from the mental discipline and intellectual development that result from
foreign-language study.
2.- reading and writing are the major focus; little or no systematic
attention is paid to speaking and listening.
3.- Vocabulary selection is based solely on the reading texts used, and
words are taught through bilingual word lists, dictionary study, and
memorization.
4.- the sentence is the basic unit of teaching and language practice.
Much of the lesson is devoted to translating sentences into and out of
the target language, and it is this focus on the sentence that is a
distinctive feature of the method.
5.- Accuracy is emphasized. Students are expected to attain high
standards in translation,
6.- Grammar is taught deductively-that is, by presentation and study of
grammar rules, which are then practiced through translation exercises
7.- the student's native language is the medium of instruction. It is used
to explain new items and to enable comparisons to be made between
the foreign language and the students native language. Traduccin ma.
7- Shih-Chuan Chang (2011). Translation helps us understand the influence
of one language on the other, e.g., areas of potential errors caused by
negative transfer from the first language. Fully aware of the interference,
students will try to avoid making such errors when performing in the
second language. When errors do occur, the students will be able to
explain why and try not to make the same mistakes again. Traduccin
