Itinerary Parry Sound, Ontario Friday, July 15, 2016 2:30 p.m. Visit to Francis Pegahmagabow Statue 2 Bay St, Parry Sound Greeted by Parry Sound Mayor Jamie McGarvey and representatives of local First Nations, the Lieutenant Governor will view the newly unveiled statue of Cpl. Francis Pegahmagabow, a celebrated Ojibwa veteran of the First World War. A three-time winner of the Military Medal, Cpl. Pegahmagabow is best known for his outstanding record as a sniper and scout, and for his later service as a chief and councillor for Wasauksing First Nation. Her Honour will meet with artist Tyler Fauvelle to learn about the making of the statue. Her Honour will then deliver remarks during a reception.
