Lesson Plan: Theoretical Class (16)

Class: Year 9

Date: 23/6/2015

Time: 9.45-10.45

Key Learning Area: TAS (Industrial

Technology)

Lesson Topic: Drawing to AS1100 (Orthogonal Projections and 2-Point Perspective)

Recent Prior Experience:

Students have been taught in Year 7 and 8 the nature of drawing with AS1100. In this class we will focus on developing these skills further so that the students can
utilize these newly formed skills in the development of their folio.
Syllabus Outcome(s):

Indicators of Learning for this lesson:

By the end of this lesson, the students will:

5.4.1 selects, applies and

interprets a range of suitable
communication techniques in the
development, planning,
production and presentation of
ideas and projects

Any safety issues to be considered:

-

Safe use of pencils and drawing tools

Potential hazards with paper cuts etc

WHS while in the classroom

Understand the protocols of drawing to AS1100

Have developed a 2PP drawing of their Hall Stand that

concurs with the protocols of drawing to the AS1100
standards

Resources:
- Whiteboard and marker
- Teacher drawings of the project
- Drawing paper
- Drawing tools

Assessment:

Over the course of the 4 classes we will

be going through the development of
isometric and orthogonal drawings. In
order to assess the development of these
skills the students will submit these
drawings on submission of their Hall
Stand folio so that they can be officially
marked.

INTRODUCTION

Line the students up at the door,

allow them to enter after they are
in single file
Introduce the lesson, their task,
and the expectations that I have
for the class

By begin the my first lesson in this orderly way I hope to

establish an identity and expectation for how I would like the
students to act in the class, and for the amount of work that I
would like them to get done in the class.

DEVELOPMENT
Orthogonal Drawings:

What is an Orthogonal drawing?

How do you do you create one?
But first lets go through 2-point
perspective!

Demo of 2-point perspective (get

students to follow the process)
Demo of Orthogonal development
(get students to follow the process)

Give students the A3 paper to start their

Isometric drawing of their Hall Stand.

Over the course of the class it is important that I

continually move from student to student, monitoring
their actions, and to assess whether or not they are
making progress in their drawing developments. If so,
then great, if not then individual assessment is
needed. Furthermore, I am intending to get through 2
types of drawing techniques, both 2-Point Perspective
and Orthogonal, so it will be important to make sure
that students waste as little time as possible.

CLOSURE

There are a number of practical

components associated with closing this
lesson. All drawing instruments must be
packed away; students must be debriefed
on the class and understand what is
expected of them for their next class.
At the end of this class I will also explain to
the students that their next class will be
another drawing class that will work from
the Isometric development that they have
made today

5 min

All cleaning will be undertaken in the closure of the lesson and

it is important that I walk around and coordinate the packing
away of drawing materials and drawing tools. This will be
followed by a short debrief where I will ask the students
whether they felt they had a productive lesson, what is on their
agenda for the next lesson, and what they can learn from this
lesson for their next class.
