Unit 2 Assignment 2

Introduction
This is a report about the issues of domestic abuse and
how I am going to address this issue through a short
film.

What type of abuse is it?

The abuse that I am doing for my short film is Physical
abuse and this is domestic violence is where someone
gets beaten in a relationship and has to live in fear and
isolation from other people. Victims are generally
isolated from the rest of the world and can see no one
other than the perpetrator. This stops them from
getting out of this abusive relationship. This allows the
perpetrator to get away with what he or she is doing to
the victim.

Unique selling point

My short film of domestic violence will be different from
other films on domestic violence as most of them is just
about the partner getting abused. So I will focus on the
victims point of view. I will make a short film that will
help explain to thirteen year old's about domestic
violence, what it really is and how it can effect a
number of people.

Primary research

I had undertaken my research by designing a

questionnaire about domestic violence and to show
how many people are aware about it and what it can do
to people. From my research I have gathered
information by given people a questionnaire on
domestic violence and from the results they are all
aware what domestic violence is.

Goal of the short film

I hope to achieve a lot of awareness of this short film
and help inspire people to stop that rates of domestic
violence that is happening by the short film making
them more aware about domestic violence. I am also
going to make my short film about domestic violence
national so there will be a lot of people aware of this.

Also by showing people this short film I want to show

that anyone can be victims of domestic violence and
not just one gender can be a victim.

Target audience
The target audience for my short film will be for
teenagers around the age of 13. It is a good time for
teenagers at the age of 13 to understand that these
things can happen. This should help them be aware
about Physical abuse by seeing the short film.

Costs
When making my short film about domestic violence I
will have to consider the costs of the productions that I
do. The production of the short film will cost around 20k
or a higher price than that as I am planning to
broadcast my short film on TV.

Funding
For the funding of my short film I am a student who is
funding it so I will be borrowing the equipments from
the school to shot my short film. So I will not really fund
or spend any money on the short film of domestic
violence.

The picture that I have above the text is a statistic on
domestic violence and it is showing the difference of
the number of women and men get abused. From this
the statistics shows that more woman through the
years that are getting abused more than men but its
not just women who are getting abused. This is what I
will show as Proof in my short film that both genders
are suffering from domestic and that it is not only
women who get abused but anyone can be victims of
domestic violence.

Production schedule
Week 1: This week will be based on the pre-production
of my short film which is about domestic violence. So I
will be planning out story boards from the first scene of
the short film and then to the middle and then the end.
As part of the post production, for the short film of
domestic violence. To prepare for the shooting of my

short film about domestic violence I will make a

shooting list of all the shots that I am going to do for
my short film. so I will plan out the locations and what
type of shots that I am going to do.
week 2: In this week this is where I will start to shoot
my short film about domestic abuse as I will have my
shooting list which I will follow step by step to complete
the production of this short film.
Week3: On this week I will plan the editing of the
camera shots and putting each of the shots in order. I
will also see what scenes is could include into this
movie. There could some scenes that i could cut out
but would not affect the movie by doing this.

Copyright issues
One of the most important things I should be aware of
when making my short film about domestic violence is
copyright as I should be careful as to what I shoot as it
could lead to a copyright issue. I should also be aware
of how I am filming this short film and how I am doing a
scene because someone might think that it is similar to
another film and this would lead to copyright issues
because of that. Also, when I am shooting my short
film, I should be aware of websites like Of com as they
could stop this short film from happening as someone
could complain about something that they do not like
on the film so I will have to be careful not to make this
film not too violent or offensive to some people.

What type of short film will it be?

My short film of domestic violence will be a drama as I
think that having this short film being dramatic will be
good as it is based on domestic violence and having the
type of abuse as physical will make it more dramatic.

Requirements
The requirements that I am going to need for my short
film will be things such as a camera because I will need
this in order to make my film.
I will also need cast and crew as I will need actors and
camera man for the production
I will need to require a location which is best to shoot
for a short film that is based on domestic violence.
Another piece of equipment that I will need to require
for my short film will be Speakers for the sound of my
short film.
The type of short film that I will be doing will be Drama
so I will need speakers to help make scenes Dramatic
with the loud sounds of the speakers.

This chart shows that the results of domestic violence
are increasing one year then decreasing another year
and increasing again. This shows that throughout the
next years that domestic violence could increase even
more which is why it should be made aware to people
as I will use these facts and put them into my short film
about domestic violence to create more awareness.

Conclusion
Overall, I hope that I will be able to make my short film
of domestic violence by given my reasons of why it will
be unique for my target audience to see this short film.
I hope that the commissioner will take, what I have
shown him about domestic violence, into consideration
and allow it to be shown national.
