1.Geometry Creation :
New Project Select Space Units: Length =meters; Force=KN;
File Name=Conical shaped slab with a hole Next. Select Add beam
Finish.
Geometry Run structure WizardSelect Frame models from Truss
modelSelect
Reverse Cylindrical Frame and double click on it.
Model name: Reverse Cylindrical Frame
Length =6m

Radius =5m

Angle=360

No. of Bays along length=2


No. of Bays along Periphery=16 Apply Transfer ModelYes Select
bottom most beam Delete16 Beams are deletedOk. Front

Open Base Ok. Select top portion of elements (select plate cursor)

Remove the horizontal beams on top portion of conical portionDelete

2. Member Property :
Click General Property Define Circle YD=0.45m (Column) Add.
Rectangle YD=0.38

thickness) AddClose.
Highlight YD=0.45 & Select Beam Parallel toY Assign to selected
beam Assign Yes.
Highlight YD=0.38 ZD=0.23 and select Top ring beam and middle tie
beam member Assign to selected beam Assign Yes .

Highlight YD=0.20 ZD=0.20 and select top portion of slanting portion

Highlight thickness=0.10m & select plate cursor. Select Top portion of

bottom most nodes of column by windowing using node cursor

5. Analysis Type:
Click Analysis/print No print Add Close.

Click post print Define commands Load list select Load

6. Analysis:
From Main Menu ` Analysis Run Analysis Done.
7.Results :
Go to post processing mode. Top view.
Select load case 1 Ok. Click Summary of results given in Table form and
see the maximum displacement. Right clickBeam Relative
Displacement detail Table.
Right clickPlate centre stress Table See summary see highest Mx(BMD)
My(BMD). BMD is negligible & the reinforcement required is only
minimum.
