Programs: Photoshop
Description: An inspirational montage made by blending

two images and using typography

Objectives: Unify a layout with a consistent theme and

dominant spiritual message. Learn to blend two or more

images together gradually, using masks. Use a mask to apply
a filter to one part of the image

Process: It took a while to figure out how I could design

something that would send the desired messge without

being too cliche. I had my project folder full of images and
ideas that I sifted through and worked with until I came
up with the image of Jesus Christ and the stormy waters.
It was difficult to find a good quality image of the sea and
waves; most imgages I found were pixalated. Once I got that
together though I went to work by placing my background
image, then I imbeded the image of Christ into it. I created
a layer mask to add some of the browns from the image
of Christ into the dark waves in order to blend the images
better. Then I created an layer maks and started with a
higher opacity and worked my way down to a 10% brush to
get the look and feel that I wanted.

Description: A two sided (Tri-fold) folding brochure.
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an origino, new logo and use it in a brochure. Use a
clipped image in Photoshop and use InDesign to wrap text
around it

Process: At first I started out by getting some ideas

because normally I dont pay much attention to brochures

that people hand out So I wasnt sure what all went into a
brocuhre. I decided that I wanted to do a tri-fold brochure
so I measeured out where my folds needed to be and I labled
my sections. I used Illustrator to design the logo; I started out
with the pen tool to draw the trumpet and then I used the
pen tool to draw the shoe as well and then I brought them
together. I later brought that logo into InDesign where I did
the rest of the brochure. I used the rectangle tool to create
the design and I added some high quality images to really
bring my message home.

Programs: Photoshop
Description: A photo manipulated in Photoshop
Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Work with
color schemes. Adjust image levels, saturation, and color
within Photoshop.

Process: I started out this project by taking some photos. I

messed around with my lighting and the placement of my

pineapple until I got the shot I wanted. Then I went to work
in photo shop and cut out the pineapple, and added the
background. I used the eyedropper tool to get the colors in
my background and the box around my text to match those
in the pineapple. I Then chose a text that fit the message of
eating a pineapple and turne it green to match the stems of
my image.

Programs: Illustrator
Description: Logo For an organization
Objectives: Create origional new logos. Conduct market
reasearch. Use only Illustrator tools to design the logo

Process: This was my first time in Illustrator. I first had to

decide which company I was going to design the logo for. I

settled on a gym that I want to start with my cousin. I used
mainly the rectangle tool and took out ancer points to get
the look and feel that I wanted. I also used the feture to draw
behind the triangles in my logo to get the fill that I wanted.
I decided to use some fonts that would communicate the
overall feel of a CrossFit gym.

Programs: HTML & CSS Coding software

Description: A web page designed to showcase a personally

created logo

Objectives: Use an origional logo. Acquire a working

knowledge of HTML and CSS. Identify hex colors and use

them in the design

Process: My process with this design included a lot of

Google searching to figure out how to get things to move as

I wanted them. I downloaded some fonts from Google Fonts
where I was also able to get imbed codes so the fonts I used
would show up on any computer. I then wrote code to get
the back ground to match my logo design and I worked on
the coding to get a good hiarchy as well.

Description: Matching letterhead and business card

designed useing a personally created logo

Objectives: Create a new logo. Apply typography and keep

designs simple for company stationary. Design a consistaent
layout for business cards and letterheads.

Process: I started this project out by doign some reaserch.

I want to maybe have my own CPA firm some day so I

looked at the Big 4 Accoutning firms to see how they laided
out their design. Once I had a pretty good idea I went into
Illustrator and made my logo, something simple but that
catches the eye and I then went into InDesign to create my
business card.

Programs: Microsoft Word

Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promot a

fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner

Objectives: Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and

inches work together). Learn to use only Word design
features without using any Adobe programs

Process: This design process was a bit more tricky because

I did the whole thing in Microsoft Word. I scanned the front

cover of the Field of Dreams movie as my image and adjusted
the settings so I could then take it into word and manipulate
it and still have a high quality image. It was a lot harder
using Word because I didnt have an eye dropper tool so I
just had to eyeball it and hope to get the right color. I added
some light gradient on my box to tie it in with the rest of the
background and make it look like the night sky.

Graduate Leadership

Course & Section: Communications 130 Section 5

Date: 04/15/2016

Programs: InDesign, Photoshop, Word

Description: Black and white flier presentinga leadership

conference for grad students

Objectives: Apply the design principles and use

appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to

improve basic flier layout. Create a project folder for this
and future projects

Process: The process for this flier was a little easier becasue
I was given all of the materials I needed to create this flier
and I just had to organize it. I began with my designs. I like
simplicity so I kept it simple and just used the rectangle tool
to create the origional design and then I copied it and rotated
the image so I could have some repatiton. Then I placed my
text in at the bottem with some nice proximity so I didnt
lose any of the message. Lastly I added my photo.
