Montag

Description: A montage of a female staring into a Dream

Catcher that shows her visualizing the Philadelphia
Pennsylvania Latter-day Saints Temple.
Program Used: Photoshop
Date: May 28th, 2016
Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objective:

Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow
Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple
elements

Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image

Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour
choice)

Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size.
Theme word(s)

Select good quality images

Process: Using photoshop, I took three pictures and blend them

to creat this master piece.
I would start with a sunset picture of the girl holding a
dream catcher and apply a filter to make it black and white.
I would then play with the color to darken it and make it
look like a silouette of a girl.
Then I overlayed the galaxy picture and erase it off the girl.
I took the temple picture and made it smaller and put it on
Linear Light. I would erase the edges, to round it off in the
Dream Catcher

Business Cards

Description: Business Cards for Sami Sweet Photography.

Program Used: Illustrator and InDesign
Date: June 11th, 2016
Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objectives

Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Do not imitate
existing logos or use previous designs. Dont use photos or live trace.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and
letterhead. Photos are okay on business card and letterhead as additional design elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional,
but trim only .125. Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above
center on a vertical page.
Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Keep designs simple with light watermarks and drop shadows and
plenty of white space.
Include contact information: name, address, phone, website, and
email on each piece. Use periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no
parentheses/ hyphens.

Process: Using Illustrator I created a round logo with multiple little squares to

make it look like a sound board. I then put an S and 2 and shaped it to look like
the connected to create a heard. Next I would use InDesign to create the business
cards and Stationary. I created two 3.52 regtangles to create the shape of the
cards. I would then creat the sound board on the bottom of the front of the card.
Then I would put Samantha Sweet Photography above that. On the back I would
paste my logo and put my information. I would also put squares on the back just
to continue with square theme I had going. WIth the stationary I would paste the
sound board again but lower the opacity Plus give it a gradient of lighter at the
top and higher at the bottom. Then I would put my information at the top left
hand corner and my logo it the right hand corner.

Flyer

Description: A flyer for a graduate Leadership Conferenece.

Program Used: InDesign
Date: May 8th, 2016
Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objectives

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to

keep links in InDesign intact.

Process: To create this I used indesign. I really want to

focus on the message of this and the focal point with the
flow. I also just wanted a simple black and white contrast.
So I used some thick black lines to contrast the words and
the picture.

Photoshop

Description: A flyer for a graduate Leadership Conferenece.

Program Used: InDesign
Date: May 21th, 2016
Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objectives

Learn basic photography skills.

Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.
Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.)
Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout.
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four
sides.

Process: The colors of the lipsticks were really important on this picture. And getting the colors to compliment
each other was really important. I wanted the color of
the lipsicks to be showed off so I used a teal color like the
flowers under the lipsticks to give them a pop. I also edited this photo. The lighting outside that day made the
lipsticks more nude then they are so I add a little bit of
brightness into them. I also gave them some contrast and
gave it a little bit of saturation.

Event Ad

Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objectives

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together)

Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design.
Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and
audience.

Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process: I used word to create this flier and to edit the
photos. I wanted the flow just to be simple. One side has the
information while one side is more decrotative and gives a
pop of color. I chose green as the color because it is the color
of mental awareness. The picture I chose is one I took while
at a Set it off Concret in Salt Lake City.

Logos

Description: Logos creates for a company named Star

Pathways.
Program Used: Adobe Illustrator.
Date: June 4th, 2016
Course: Comm130 Sec. 8
Teacher: Sister Lefevre
Objectives

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or

personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.

Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people about
which logo appeals most to them.

Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing.
You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the pen/
pencil, but delete the image before submitting.)

Refine one logo with variations for color

Process: To Create these logos I started off with creating

a circle. Then I wanted a star. My Logo would then star
to form because of that. I would the think of a company
called Star Pathways. So i woud create a road using a
dashed line in the middle and two blurred lines for the
side of the road.
