Brochure
Description: Duplex Folding Brochure

Programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.

Date: 7/9/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: To learn how to make a duplex folding brochure. Text wrap an
image. Have full bleed images.

Process: In the creation of this brochure I used Adobe Photoshop, Adobe

InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator. I started out on Unsplash, searching through

images because I was unsure on my brochure topic. I came across a lot of
images of food and the thought of a Farmers Market crossed my mind.
I created the layout of my brochure in InDesign. It folds twice and I wanted a tab
on the edge to showcase images. For my wrap text image I chose a picture of
a woman and cropped out the background in Photoshop. The image was a bit
hard on the edges so I adjusted the contrast, added some feathering, and shifted
the edges. Then I transferred the cropped image into Indesign to text wrap it with
the appropriate paragraph.

Stationery
Description: Letterhead created with original logo.
Programs: Adobe Illustrator
Date: 6/12/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create a full bleed watermark. Incorperate logo in a stationery
template.

Process: I created my logo through Adobe Illustrator. I started out with a circle,

as I typed my text and chose a complementary color scheme I realized the logos
potentially to be a tomato. I spent a lot of time trying to make the tomato as
organic as possible. Then I copied my logo into InDesign and started to draft a
letterhead. I went through many drafts, I took away decorative aspects that took
from the simplicity of my design. I made my watermark substantially bigger and
made the opacity 13%. I wanted to be sure to keep color in the watermark so it
was apparent that the logo was a tomato.

Montage
Description: Inspirational montage through the blending of two images
and an inspirational quote.

Programs: Photoshop
Date: 5/29/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Blend two images together on Photoshop.
Process: I used Photoshop to edit and blend the images together. I used

the clock as the locked background. I then applied the piano image on top
and created a mask. With that, I think turned the opacity up to 56 and used
124 sized brush and brushed over the middle of the image, faintly revealing
the clock. I wanted the clock to be in between the hands because I wanted
it to appear as though time was in the older woman's hands.I adjusted
the levels of the the image, I also added sharpness so the woman's hands
would appear more aged then they already did. I also added some blue on
the piano keys. I then created a text box and aligned it with the "1" on the
clock. I was sure to use contrasting fonts to show important words in the
message.

Business
Card
Description: Business card created with original logo.
Programs: Adobe Illustrator
Date: 6/12/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create a two sided business card with a consistent design
incorperating an orignial logo.

Process: I created my logo through Adobe Illustrator. I started out with a circle,

as I typed my text and chose a complementary color scheme I realized the

logo's potentially to be a tomato. I spent a lot of time trying to make the tomato
as organic as possible. I created my business card, showing both sides of the
card through my two rectangles. I kept the text and font the same as on my
watermark. I wanted one side to just have text and left a lot of white space.
The other side had my logo. I first had just one huge tomato but it looked a bit
awkward so I made 3 small ones in order to create some repetition.

Event Ad
Description: A full bleed fundraiser flier using Microsoft Word and a scanner.
Programs: Microsoft Word
Date: 5/14/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create an event ad through Microsoft Word. Crop out the background
of an image.

Process: I scanned the photo of the arctic wolf and input the image into

Microsoft Word. I cropped out the excess background. I then input the text and
used contrasting colors including white text to contrast the black background,
green text to promote the environment also to use repetition with the logo colors,
and brown text for repetition with the foxes eyes.

Photo
Design
Description: Use of photography and editing skills through flier
Programs: Photoshop
Date: 5/22/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Take an original image with a DSLR camera. Incorperate an
appropriate quote.

Process: I started out by thinking of the message I wanted share with my

audience. This quote by Emerson came to me so I wanted to take a photo of

something that could show the beauty of nature. I knew I wanted color! I chose
a complementary color scheme. I edited my photo in Photoshop being sure to
make sure my levels and color balance were appropriate. I also adjusted the
brightness a bit to help with the vibrancy of the photo. I was sure to incorporate
my color swatches and color names into the design.

Logos
Description: Logo variations for Vegan Vendors
Programs: Illustrator and Photoshop
Date: 6/4/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create an orignial logo in three different color variations.
Process/ Edits: I recreated this project by using the basis of an older logo idea I

had. I chose organic text and made it green to match the tomato leaf. I tried to
make the proximity with the tomato appropriate to the words. It was interesting
to see my logo in different variations. It was difficult to incorperate the tomato to
my logo. I wanted the logo to be simple yet orignial. I had to make my image
greyscale in Photoshop because I do not think there is a method to do so in
InDesign.

Flier
Description: Black and White flier promoting a graduate leadership conference.
Programs: InDesign
Date: 5/6/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create a black and white flier with a certain set of images. Properly
seperate text according to subheadings.

Process: I first physically sketched out four designs and chose the one I

felt would be most appealing to my audience. I created three drafts of my

sketch before reaching my final image. These drafting processes consisted of
reorganizing white space, resizing of font, resizing of images, contrast, and proper
alignment. I immensely benefited from using a smaller body copy, a smaller logo,
and making an apparent contrast between the photo and title.

Web Page
Description: A webpage created to show a logo I designed and the process of
making the logo itself.

Programs: TextWrangler and Photoshop

Date: 6/26/16
Course & Section: Comm 130, P6
Instructor: Joel Judkins
Objectives: Create a webpage using CSS and HTML coding. Be sure to include
original logo and an appropriate color scheme.

Process: I created this webpage using TextWrangler. I created the HTML and CSS

through this application. As I entered new codes for different aspects of the page,
I was constantly refreshing the web browser to be sure it was the correct design
element. I also used Photoshop to find the HEX colors of my logo. I used the HEX
colors for my webpage, so the colors I used were the same shades as those in
my logo. I also made sure to use three different fonts for each header and the
body copy just in case a computer didn't have my primary font. I also had to
tinker with padding a lot throughout my page. I wanted to make sure there was
white space throughout my whole webpage.
