I utilized the Adobe programs of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

for this project.
This is an offset trifold double-sided (duplex) brochure, which was
made to advertise a fictional calzone restaurant.

Objective

My objective was to set up and align a two-sided, folded brochure. I

had to create an original, new logo and use it in the brochure. I had to
incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One of
the images was to be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in
InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.

Process

I first made my logo in Illustrator. I added a tilt to it to make it a little

more wacky and fun and kept it simple, where it could be used in any
number of ways. I then made the layout of the brochure in InDesign,
using ruler guides to help keep my different flaps and folds of the
brochure clear during the process. I made one flap thinner and the
two-thirds of the rest of the brochure I made the same size so that
when the thinner flap was folded in front, it would stop short and show
some of the Italian flag coloring on the side. I found high quality
images online to show different ingredients in the calzones.
Lastly, I used Photoshop to cut out certain ingredients of
some of the favorite dishes used text-wrapping around them.
This took some practice but it was a great learning experience.

Programs Used I utilized Notepad++ for this project.

Description This is a web page aimed to display my created logo for a fictional
graphic design company.

Objective My objective gain a working knowledge of HTML and CSS coding by

writing code to create web page displaying our logo and creation
process of it.

Process I had never used web coding skills with HTML, CSS, or any other
coding formats so it was a new frontier for me. The understanding
of this type of work was slow at first so it was great that we had two
weeks to practice them, but by the end, I was feeling rather comfortable at a lot of the coding process.

Objective My objective was to create a new logo and then use the new logo to
design consistent layouts for a letterhead.

Process I utilized Adobe Illustrator for the new logo design and then placed it
within Adobe InDesign. I then used the rectangle tool to create the
stroke around the business card. I created the dots to
create repetition in the design. I also typed in contact information
in the letterhead and business card with the same layout and font.

I created this logo by using the ellipse tool. I made a 10 pt black

stroke and typed the company name on it by using the Type on a Path
Tool. I then typed hyphens with spaces between them to give them the
dotted line look like you would see on a street. Whats
interesting is there arent dotted lines on a raceway for race cars or
even go-karts for that matter. However, it got across the message
and the brand better than just a black stroke by itself did. I also
put a text box in the middle of the circle for the business acronym.

My objective was to first create three different logos, receive market

research results and then create select one of the logos and refine
the logo with three different color variations. The logo should express
branding for the company.

I utilized Adobe Photoshop for this project.

Description

This is an inspirational montage created in Photoshop made by the

blending of the image of Jesus Christ and numerous images of
additional clouds, along with typography use.

Objective

My objective was to unify a layout with a consistent theme and

dominant spiritual message and learn to blend two or more images
together gradually, using masks.

Process

I placed the embedded image in a 11 x 8.5 document in Photoshop. I

then embedded the image of Christ and added a mask. I then
painted away the hard edges of the image with 100% opacity and then
softly blended in the outer edge of the image so one could not
determine where the image began. Then I added three more clouds
to better relay the message of the montage, as well as adding further
high value contrast from the light and dark images in the picture. I
blended the cloud images with a 10% to 15% opacity brush to ensure
the blend was gradual. Lastly, I added light gold font to keep with the
golden monochromatic color scheme of the image with two
contrasting fonts that helps to emphasize important words.

The proceeds from this dinner
provided by Schmoops Inc. will go to
the U.N. Refugee Agency.

Description This is a color fundraising event advertisement, which I designed in

Microsoft Word 2013. I also incorporated an image I scanned from a
Veranda magazine.

Objective Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together),
find, scan and import a high-quality image, create a full-bleed design,
choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message
and audience, and to learn to use only Word design features without
using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.
Process I began this process by using the scanner of my HP Officejet 5740. I
scanned the image from the magazine by cropping only what I wanted
scanned instead of the entire scanner area. Since the image I was
using was already 8.5 x 11 (the entire page), I didnt need to use as
high of a ppi (pixels per inch) setting since I wouldnt have to account
for enlarging the image in my advertisement. I only used 200 dpi (dots
per inch), which was the only setting I could use since I didnt need it
to be higher and the next lower setting was 100 dpi. I then had to ensure the height and width ppi settings fit the needed
measurements as given to us for this assignment. I ensured the size
of the image was proportional for my needs and inserted the image.

Description This is a daycare ad with specific focus on photography and color
scheme.

Objective My objective was to take a picture and use it in a design, all made in
Photoshop.

Process I created this using a camera and Photoshop. I used the rectangle
tool to create both the swatches and the yellow, orange, and blue border. I also utilized layering, vibrance, selective color modification, and
sharpening. Layering in the different elements in the advertisement,
vibrance to change the hue of colors, selective color to better match
the yellow slides and blue bars to the outer layer of the color wheel,
and sharpness in my nieces eyes. I also used the quick selection
tool to brighten my nieces face to help draw focus. I also utilized the
spot healing brush to remove some smaller, unwanted elements in the
image.

DO YOU WANT TO HAVE THE COMPETITIVE

EDGE IN BUSINESS?
Come learn how at Vouant Communications annual
Graduate Leadership Conference.

Programs Used I utilized the Adobe InDesign for this project.

Vouant Communications is devoted to helping

tomorrows leaders gain essential leadership
skills in the workplace.

Description This is a grayscale flier promoting a Graduate Leadership Conference

for graduating seniors.

During this dynamic three-day seminar, attendees will

meet with top executives of Vouant Communications
to discuss breakthrough leadership techniques.
Those in attendance will also be cultivating attributes
of leadership that will market to any employer.
The conference is available to graduating seniors. Space
is limited.

Objective My objective was to Apply the design principles and use appropriate
typography, incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier
layout, retrieve image and logo from links on this page and create a
project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in
InDesign intact.
Process I created this file in InDesign. I began with a few different
sketches to formulate a plan for the design. I utilized the rectangle
tool often in this design. I created the black background with a large
rectangle to create contrast in the design and from other students
designs. I also used repetition and rhythm with the repeating
gray squares and using that a couple of times in the design. I also
used the Rule of Odds with using three squares. Alignment is found
throughout the design with the aligning of the text to the image.
