(Speech delivered by Vipassana Khandare in Mount Mary
School, Bandra west Mumbai) Good morning to our respected principal, judges, teachers and my dear friends. You may have heard many things about science and technology. Today I will give you a glance about it. The present era is the age of science and technology. The countries appearing distant have come closer owing to the progress in science. The world is developing fast due to the wonderful inventions in science and technology. Human life is getting happier and prosperous. Science is the discovery of law of nature. The schematic and systematic knowledge of the incidents in nature acquired through observation, experiment and conclusion is a science. Technology made the human life happier by preparing various gadgets with the help of science. Technology is defined as the use of science in life. Science, technology and development are all proportional to each other. Basically science is known as the study of knowledge. If nations do not implement science and technology, then the chances of getting them developed becomes minimal and thus could be even rated as an undeveloped nation. Life has become simple because of implementing science and technology together. Without having modern equipments in all sectors, be it in medicines, infrastructure, aviation, electricity, information technology or any other field, the advancement and benefits that we face today would not have been possible. Apart from the medical side, there has been remarkable development in education, communication, agriculture, industry etc. the global economic output has increased 17 folds in the 20th cent
Today women are also inventing more and more new
things. Marie Curie invented Radio Active substance which is used to cure cancer. Kalpana chavla was indo-American astronaut & first women of Indian origin in space who died in space shuttle Columbia disaster. Rosalind Franklin has contributed for molecular structure of DNA, RNA, virus and graphite. Tessy Thomas is the first women scientist to head missile project in India. She is known as the missile women in India. Our former president APJ Abdul Kalam was a scientist in DRDO & ISRO who has launched various satellites. He has a major contribution in Rohini Satellite, PSLV and Pokhran 2 nuclear test. He is also known as the missile man. Can you live without mobile and computer today? It is the gift of science and technology. Science and technology affects on environment. Natural forests are deforested. Living things are destroyed. Science and technology can also give raise to pollution. Pollution such as Air pollution, Noise pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and so on. Global warming is caused due to science which is affecting the climatic change. They are creating holes in the ozone layer which is harmful. Due to the depletion of ozone layer ultra violet rays are directly affecting are skin and causing harm to eco-system. Conventional resources like petrol, diesel, oil, coal, are depleting day by day. Eco-friendly technology should be used for sustaining development. What is sustaining development? Sustaining development is the development that meets the need of the present without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. Renewable resources should be used for conservation of natural resources. Thus, science and technology have benefited the mankind on the other hand is causing disastrous effects not only on earth but also on whole world. Hence, science and technology should be used optimally for the benefits of mankind So my dear friends I would like to conclude my speech by telling you that though science and technology has led us to an
advanced world but we should really care for our environment
