Museum Concept

The CHMA Archives and Museum cannot succeed by being a static experience. It has to be
an active experience, coupled with the great tradition of museum storytelling.
Visitors wont just see and hear about Castle Heights Military Academy, but they will be
able to actually experience what it was like to attend the academy. Hopefully, the visitors
will leave the museum with such a feeling as well as knowledge of the academys history.

MUSEUM THEATER

SEMMES
MEDIA

Museum Theater- Synopsis: A small theater installation is a very practical and flexible
way to deliver multimedia content to visitors. When well planned and executed, it
provides the museum with the capability to present the material that many collections
need and has the capacity to provide diverse content in locations with limited space.
Media theaters have become a standard installation in nearly all modern museum
facilities.

Content developed for a museum theater will provide a means of drawing special
attention to important events, people, or concepts in a manner that will inherently
draw visitors to view presentations. A major advantage of theater based exhibits vs.
static exhibits is in the ability to precisely control how and what content is delivered to
the viewer sequentially in order to best tell a story or convey an idea. This concept will
also provide a mechanism for sponsors to be recognized without competing with the
museums traditional or permanent exhibits.
