The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences aims at


producing graduates who can lead and guide the society with
vision and have the ability with appropriate training to
manage its resources effectively. A special emphasis has
been given on business curriculum to create managers with
high competence and ethical values. A unique combination of
classroom experience and corporate training has been
adopted in business studies to create managerial skills,
confidence building and decision making. Our graduate
programs provide a good research opportunity to MS and
PhD students. The faculty has produced over 500 MS and
over 20 PhD graduates in HR, Finance and Marketing. We

Department of Management Sciences offers programs
which explore in-depth relationships between academic
teaching and real life management problems. It combines
excellence in research with state of the art campus
facilities and a full spectrum of undergraduate, post
graduate and PhD programs. It helps students to develop
skills to collect pertinent information, analyze it and derive
meaningful inferences for decision-making. The case study
method of imparting knowledge is used to maintain the
pace of each program at a rigorous level to prepare
students for effectively handling the challenges of a
modern day work place. Course contents are carefully
selected by highly qualified professionals at different levels
to ensure a comprehensive coverage of all aspects of
managing a dynamic business. Due emphasis is placed upon
development of entrepreneurial spirit and leadership

Admission Requirements

BBA program is especially designed to meet industry


requirements in a changing global corporate environment
and provides the right tools that allow students to achieve
their career objectives. Being highly-regarded, the
program opens up a world of opportunities for students

Business Project (6 Cr. Hrs.): It is mandatory for every


student to complete a Summer Project following the 6th
semester or after the completion of 90 Cr. Hrs. of course
work.
Duration: This is a four year degree program comprising of
8 semesters with a minimum of 130 Cr. Hrs. There is a Fall
and a Spring semester in each year. The summer sessions
are utilized for Business Projects or deficiency courses. The
maximum duration to complete the degree is 7 years.

The student admitted in MBA program under Stream II will

Duration: For Stream-I, the normal duration is 3.5 years

MBA PROFESSIONAL
MBA Professional is a new, innovative and flexible program
for full/part time students. As a variant of the MBA
program it is designed to meet the needs of working
professionals. The MBA Professional Degree is designed
for managers and people who are already in a demanding
job and want to enhance their business effectiveness and
careers. The program allows them to continue their
career while they study, putting into practice what they
learn. In MBA-Professional, the coursework emphasis is
on research orientation, problem solving, management
skills, entrepreneurial skills and all other elements
required for effective leadership. After completion of the

BS FINANCE AND ECONOMICS

Admission Requirements

The BS Finance and Economics program is aimed at developing


professionals who can provide solutions to current financial and
economic problems of our country. This program has been
designed for students who wish to acquire career-oriented,
market-driven education that would lead to rewarding careers.
This program provides an opportunity to acquire advanced
knowledge and skills in economics and finance. It focuses upon
developing strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills to
make better decisions pertaining to resource allocation and
efficiency. It helps the student to think critically while applying
economic and financial concepts to solve real-world business
problems and opportunities. It provides a blend of qualitative and
quantitative approach to better analyze the economic and
financial problem. The graduates can also pursue further
education in any of the programs like MBA, ICMA, M.Phil
Economics, MS Banking, MS Finance, MS Financial Engineering,

MS PROGRAM
The MS program is essentially a research based degree
program intended to investigate into and find solutions to the
problems besetting our national economy. The MS Management
program offered by Mohammad Ali Jinnah University has
attracted students from different parts of the country. It is an
ideal program for anyone wishing to undertake research in
management and its related disciplines. The program provides
substantial training encompassing research techniques and
methods used in the social sciences and an understanding of
their theoretical and philosophical underpinnings. The
research-based dissertation enables our students to apply
research skills and develop an in-depth knowledge in a

PhD MANAGEMENT SCIENCES


The PhD program is a research based degree. Our doctoral
students are required to conduct high quality research in all
related areas. The faculty devotes considerable resources to
develop and offer courses on state-of-the-art research
techniques, providing generous support to foster a research
oriented atmosphere in which doctoral students can develop
and thrive as management scientists/executives. As a result,

Admission Requirements
a) For admission into the PhD program a minimum CGPA
3.00/4.00 (in the Semester System) or First Division
(in the Annual System) in MS or Equivalent shall be
required.
b) A GAT (subject) test with minimum of 60% marks or
GRE (subject) test having 60 or higher percentile shall
be required for the confirmation of admission in the PhD
program.

Duration: A PhD student admitted in the PhD program can

maximum of 7 years from the date of admission.
All PhD Scholars of the Faculty of Management and Social
Sciences are required to take 9 Cr. Hrs. as PhD core
courses and 9 Cr. Hrs. for any one of the Specialization. A
Scholar may register course other than his/her own
specialization with the approval of the department which will
be counted towards PhD course work.

A student admitted to PhD program will have to complete the

change as per the HEC policy issued from time to time.
