INTRODUCTION

In recent years we have witnessed a rapid and intense development of the

technology used in radio. We have moved from analog and manual world, and
automatic digital world. The road has not been easy, but has brought great
benefits, both for the audience and for broadcasters.

Radio stations previously used magnetic media and / or analog audio for the
generation that was transmitted. We talk about vinyl records, cassettes,
cartridges, and more recently MiniDisc and CDs.

Currently, technological advances have allowed radio reach more people:

Amplitude and Frequency Modulated have grown considerably in terms of
quantity and variety of its stations, the compact disc has displaced acetates,
satellite transmission and Internet radio are some of the major changes.

RADIO OPERATION

Radio: converts sound into electrical impulses, to take them far from the
place where they originated.

The radio operation and it is very simple. The sounds captured by the
microphones, which are at the headquarters of the station, traveling
converted into electromagnetic signals.

To do this, first go from the transmitter to an antenna, which produce an

electrical variation, finally, thanks to an electrical transformer that
reproduces and magnifies comes to your house. Once there, another set of
components that are on your radio receiver again transform sound to enjoy
your favorite stations.

RADIO OPERATION

It takes three types of components so that we can listen to the radio:

System Issue: located at the radio station. There the sounds emitted are
transformed into electrical impulses that travel to the antenna of the station.

Transmission System: located away from the station (high or clear places)
Here the original signal is amplified and through invisible waves travel
through the air to reach every home. Note that each station both FM and AM
has its own frequency; that is, their own code to capture and send vibrations.
Therefore, you only hear a station at each point of the dial on your radio
receiver. Otherwise, all stations would be mixed on your radio you could hear
well without any.

OUR RADIO DAYS

It's the new way to transport the radio signal, which is known by the acronym Anglo D.A.B.
(Digital Audio Broadcasting). The digital transmission provides a more efficient use of the radio
spectrum by reducing to a single frequency for national coverage chain, which marks a turning
point in the history of radio. So far the analog signal, we know both AM and FM- may be altered
in the course of their route to the receiver. However, D.A.B. It has a capacity to avoid such
interference. The key lies in the digital radio means of transmitting the signal. When
compressed in the space where a single frequency fit before can now be offered up to a total of
six.
