Welcome. Panorama pleasures.

From abroad.
Your holiday experience begins even before
you reach your Swiss destination regardless of where you travel from. By train, plane
and fast comfortable connections, you start
your stay by arriving rested and relaxed.

Arrive relaxed.

Arrival by train
When it comes to rail travel, the Swiss are world
champions. And that goes for international
connections, too. Every day many trains cross
into Switzerland from throughout Europe from
Germany and Austria, France, Italy and the
Netherlands. To enhance your travel experience,
most trains include a dining car or bar, electrical
connections, and a newspaper service. And
much more besides. Many passengers prefer
time-saving night travel, ensuring that they arrive
rested and relaxed the next morning.
Arrival by air
You land in Switzerland, climb aboard your train
or bus, and head for your holiday destination. Its
that simple. Swiss airports are well connected to
the countrys extensive public transport network.
Zurich and Geneva Airports include railway
stations, with trains departing every few minutes
to the city centre or more distant destinations.
Basel and Bern Airports are served by regular
local bus services to the city centre, from where
you can continue your trouble-free travel by train.

pioneering technology and scenic splendours.
Stopover surprises
But it doesnt always have to be the classic

From glistening glaciers to palm-lined lakes in just four hours? The popular

shores of Lake Como.

Montreux
Wine is bottled poetry, wrote the 19th century
Scottish novelist Robert Louis Stevenson who,
although completing his Treasure Island while
staying in Switzerland never saw the shores
of Lake Geneva. Had he done so he
would have discovered that wine is
poetry while still growing as grapes
on the vine even before the
bottling process. The Lavaux is
Switzerlands largest wine-growing
area, tempting many a traveller to take a leisurely
tasting tour through the vineyards and medieval
towns with their rustic cellars. But theres also

much more to see on the journey from Geneva to

Brig. The Olympic city of Lausanne, Montreux
(home of the famous International Jazz Festival),
and Martigny at the gateway to the Great St. Bernard Pass all contribute to the allure of this region.

The Rochers-de-Naye (2042 metres) is home to various

species of marmots from three continents. Another attraction: an overnight in a Mongolian yurt.

The Jura Foot Line links not only two of Switzerlands largest cities
but also the German and French-speaking parts of the country. And
in between lovely lakeland and the hills of the gentle Jura.

The train trip from Basel to Geneva

may not enjoy international renown as
one of Switzerlands great classic rail
journeys. But between the River Rhine
and Lake Geneva lies a lovely landscape with more than its share of
natural beauty. The Jura Foot Line
takes the traveller along the southern
rim of the Jura mountain range to the
attractive towns of Morges, Yverdonles-Bains and Neuchtel, strung like
sparkling pearls along this attractive
route. Cosy taverns invite you to linger
longer and enjoy the local culinary
delights. On hillsides you will see herds
of Freibergers, the only Swiss breed of
horses. A scenic highlight is the landscape around the three lakes of Biel,
Murten and Neuchtel. And of
particular interest to admirers of
Swiss watches Biel,
Le Locle, La
Chaux-deFonds and

countrys most
important watchmaking centres.
