stimulating environment was founded in 1981 by Vasavi Academy of Education. Vasavi College of Engineering
owes its vision to Sri Pendekanti Venkata Subbaiah, a veteran statesman of Independent India. The college has

University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi and Osmania University, Hyderabad has conferred

SALIENT FEATURES OF PROPOSED ACADEMIC RULES AND REGULATIONS


SEMESTER SYSTEM:
Semester system will be followed in B.E/M.E/M.Tech/ MCA courses from the first year (2014-15) onwards.

Backlogs: For B.E & MCA course:


A minimum of 50% credits prescribed for any year (I & II semesters put
together) must be earned to become eligible for promotion to next
higher class. The detailed promotion rules are given separately.
Credits and Grades:
Credits and grades of (both sessional and semester end marks) will be
considered for computing SGPA and CGPA.
Award of Degree: The proposed rules for award of degree are given
separately.
Minimum Attendance For PG (engineering) courses: The required
percentage of attendance is 75% in each subject, but on medical
grounds it should be 65% in each subject.

Assessment and Evaluation System:


There will be continuous and comprehensive evaluation of students. At least 2 internal examinations per
semester and 1 semester end examination will be conducted.

Theory: 30 Marks
20Marks each for two internal examinations in a
semester and 10 marks for assignments /quizzes
etc.
Average of two tests will be considered for
calculating internal exams marks to which
assignment marks will be added for obtaining total
sessional marks.
Every student should secure a minimum of 40%
aggregate marks in the internal exams.
Laboratory: 25 Marks
15 marks for day-to-day laboratory class work
which will be awarded based on the average of all
experiments.
10 marks for the internal examination.
Theory: 30 Marks
20 Marks each for two internal examinations in a
semester and 10 marks for assignments and
quizzes.
Average of two tests will be considered for arriving
internal exams marks in each subject

Semester End exams Marks


Theory: 70 Marks
End examinations will be conducted for 70 marks.
A student should secure a minimum of 40% marks
for a pass.
Laboratory: 50 Marks
End examinations will be conducted for 50 marks.
A student should secure a minimum of 50% marks
for a pass.

Theory : 70 Marks
End examinations will be conducted for 70 marks
A student should obtain 50% aggregate of internal
and semester end examinations put together in
each subject to be declared as passed.

Under Autonomy also, the existing Academic rules and regulation of Osmania University applicable for
affiliated colleges, with regard to subject wise attendance, registration & re-registration of subjects and
eligibility for project registration etc. will be followed.

- 3CREDIT SYSTEM
Credit system will be implemented for both UG and PG courses in each semester. The credit hours for
each theory subject, laboratory sessions, finishing school and project work are clearly mentioned in the
course structure and scheme of valuation.
GRADING SYSTEM
A Relative grading system will be implemented for computing semester grade point average (SGPA) and
Cumulative grade point average (CGPA). Assessment of a course will be done on the basis of marks.
