Movie

can destroy Iron-Man. Most of the students we surveyed thought
that this movie was better than the first Iron Man. Robert
Downey Jr. portrays Tony Stark AKA Iron-Man . Iron Man 2 is
about a battle between Iron man and Ivan Vanko. Ivan Vanko is a
villain who tries to invent a better suit then Iron Mans. The chart
above shows that over half the students that were surveyed either
went to see this movie or want too.

Earth is getting more polluted because many people

drive cars, litter, and many more. To protect our planet,
we need to recycle more, carpool, don’t litter, and count-
less ways we could help this planet.
Pollution is the major problem that is leading Earth
to its destruction. Many animals and plants die from air
and water contamination. Also, many environments get
effected because of pollution. Air pollution is a cause to
global warming on Earth. Glaciers and ice is melting
quickly because of global warming. If, the ice continue
melting sooner or later everything on Earth would go un-
derwater. Air pollution is caused by the cars we drive
and burning fossil fuels. When the car is turned on, it
produces and release a substance called carbon monox-
ide into the air, also causing global warming. The burn-
ing of fossil fuels cause the o-zone layer in the Earth’s
atmosphere to be thinner. The thinner the layer gets the
less it protects us from the sun. Water pollution is
caused by chemicals, litter, and gasoline that get into
the water. Water contamination can kill many sea ani-
mals and affect the environment it surrounds. Also, pol-
lution can harm anyone’s health on Earth. It can cause
headaches, asthma, allergic reactions, diseases, and a
lot more that anyone can think of.
This planet needs to go green to save itself from
getting destroyed faster. We need to save energy, con-
serve water, use less gas, recycle, reuse anything that
can be reused, and numerous more. Everyone should
learn how to protect the planet that we live on.

The interview of Hillcrest state cheerleaders, taught us a lot of things people did-
n’t know about them. The first question of the interview was if they were expect-
ing to make the cheer team, or if they were surprised. Most of the girls said that

they were surprised, but the girls that were already on the cheer team from the

year 08-09, weren’t surprised. Some of the girls would be continuing high school
cheerleading. Outside of school, the state cheer team did many other activities

such as dance, piano, volleyball and competitive cheerleading. The girls that

have been cheering before the state team, ranged from one to six years! The
other question was what your favorite part about cheer was. There were a lot of

answers like competitions, practices and stunting, but the number one thing that
the girls loved about cheer was the basketball games.

players, Degan Harte and Brandon Todd, and two regu-
lar students, Brandon Brown and John Koprivec, par-
ticipated in a Home-Run-Derby. The results were as-
tonishing. The Home-Run marker was set at 300 feet.
The winner was Degan Harte with 5 home-runs, Bran-
don Todd with 4 home-runs, John Koprivec with 1
home-run, and Brandon Brown with no home-runs.
The data proves that we have the right people on our
Hillcrest baseball team.

Favorite Thing to do Over Summer

This is the survey that was taken in Mr. Herold’s first
hour class. As you can see, out of the 28 students, most
students wanted to go out of state, with Mexico and
Amusement Park tied for second, Staying Home in
third, and going on a cruise coming in last with only
one person. There are many different things to do over
summer; some amusement parks are Disneyland, Six
Flags Magic Mountain, etc. Others are just spending
time with their family and friends on vacations at the
beach; some will just be spending their time at home.

What Are You Going to Miss About Eighth Grade?

What are you going to miss most about eighth grade? A large major-
ity of the Hillcrest students said they are going to miss their friends.
During the interview the quote that stood out the most was by Kelsey
Evans. She stated that “I will miss all my friends that will not be at-
tending the same high school as me.” A few of her friends that she
will miss the most are Tianna, Laura, Katelyn, Stevie, Christina, Lau-
ren, Casey, Rikki, and Caroline.
The school Kelsey will be going to is Mountain Ridge. Another quote
was “I will keep in touch with all my friends during the summer.” Al-
though, eighth grade was a fantastic experience a large majority of
the Hillcrest students are thrilled to proceed onto High School. High
School is going to be a new learning experience to teach more re-
sponsibility, so look forward to a new start!
