Every country around the world has its own president; someone who is thought to
be a leader, who governs his nation, who tries to give education and safety to the citizens.
Through the history there were good and bad presidents in Latin America, but the most
known by the people are Pepe Mujica and Cristina Fernandez de kirtchner. Although both
were presidents almost at the same time in South America countries, there are really
different. There are two main factors which can show the differences between them are:
their lifestyle and their government.
One of the factors which can show their differences is lifestyle. The ex-president of
Uruguay Pepe Mujica has lived in a modest farm with his wife and their three leg-dogs. In
addition, he has only a Mercedes old car. His salary was lower than his predecessor and he
has donated the 90% percent of his salary to the poor. According to an article in the 2015 in
Cronista he sold the presidential summer house of Punta del Este for USD$2.300.000 to
the republic bank. The money was destinated for building social houses. Whereas the
Argentinian Cristina Kirchner has bought lands in the south of Argentina to build huge
hotels. According to an article in 2014 the Clarin, she used to earn a salary of $100,624.
In addition she used to bought expensive dresses and travel in really expensive planes.
According to an article in 2014 in TN she used to travel in the most luxurious, modern
and fast jet, only clients like Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg travel in that kind of jet.
Another factor that can show their differences is their government, Pepe Mujicas
government politics allowed the increase of opportunity jobs. Uruguay has obtained one of
the lowest rates of unemployment in Latin America. Moreover the poverty has lowed,
according to La commission de Economia para America Latina from 10, 14% in 2009 to 5,
and 9% in 2012. His mandatory was also criticized for the increase of insecurity and for the
poor quality of education in public schools. As regard as the Argentinian she introduced a
sliding scale tax on agricultural exports, which has the effect of raising export taxes on
soya (Harret Alexander, 2015). In addition thousands of farmers begun protests and the
relation between the government and farmers were tense. There was also a devaluation of
the peso, the vice-president was accused of corruption and she was accused of international
money laundering.
