Intern Interview Questions

Focus on Intern: Blaire Theuerkauf

Blaire Theuerkauf is interning with the legal department at AAR this summer while working on her
graduate degree at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. Blaire became interested in AAR
because she could work in a corporate setting, AAR gave me the opportunity to see how an in-house
council operates. Not many first year law students are given that opportunity says Blaire. She goes
onto say that Don Vilim, who she is working with, has taken her under his wings in order to help
broaden her legal understanding of corporate law. For instance, he has introduced her to the different
areas of law that AAR deals with on a day-to-day basis.

1. What projects have you been working on this summer as an intern?

So far at AAR I have worked on a variety of different tasks. I participated in the Basics of Government
Training course at the beginning of the summer. I have reviewed a variety of different documents such
as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Temporary Occupancy Agreement (TOAs), Distribution
Agreements, Special Business Provisions (SBPs) and others. I am also helping set up AARs PAC as well as
making an intern guide for my position for future legal interns.

2. Whats your favorite part of working at AAR?

I love the people and the atmosphere here at AAR. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful this
summer and has made my experience as an intern that much better. I am constantly learning new

things whether it be about the law, AAR, or aviation in general. It has also given me some insight on
what type of law I would eventually like to practice after completing law school. I am currently leaning
toward corporate law.

3. What have you learned in your time here?

I have improved upon my research skills, my understanding of contracts (both commercial and
government), and time management. I have learned how to use the redline function while editing
documents, all sorts of different things about aircraft (I came in knowing almost nothing about them),
and the different departments within AAR and how they all work together to function as one cohesive
unit.
A high standard of ethics is necessary when practicing law and Blaire feels that one of the key values at
AAR that aligns with that is: Be Honest. Inspire Trust.

4. What would you like to be doing 5 years from now?

Five years from now, I hope to be practicing law somewhere in the Chicagoland area. It is not common
for lawyers to go directly in-house after law school, but down the road I think it could be a possible
career move for me.

Fun Facts about Blaire: She is originally from Batavia, IL and attended Augustana College for her
undergraduate degree. Blaire went above and beyond with a triple major in International Business,
Political Science and Asian Studies. She was also part of the volleyball team at Augustana for a couple of
years and then played on their club team her senior year. She still enjoys the game and you can find her
these days playing sand volleyball. Blaire also enjoys many other outdoor activities such as running,
biking and boating.
